Butcher was actually deciding between 3 teams when he signed, with Pittsburgh being one of them. I think it would be a great addition, I wonder what it would take to get him.

Lines after 10 more games
what's up pharrow! long time no talk (about hockey)
definitely have some thoughts for future lineys once the team can get (somewhat) healthy again. First, I think Janko has been just fine on this team even if he is slower than Teddy or McCann. His line with Tanev & McCann was our best line for the first week of the season. I think he can be serviceable, and while I am a Sam Lafferty stan, I don't know if he has done anything to deserve a lineup spot *yet*. I think it's worth letting them play a bit more, atleast until they prove to be an anchor. I wouldn't even mind seeing ZAR-Blueger-Tanev get some third line minutes and have McCann have some talent on the 4th line.
the defense is EXACTLY what I would like I see once they get healthy. Keep Pettersson-Marino together, with Marino on the right side. I am a bit worried about Dumo-Letang, but am also optimistic about them much like I am about Geno & Zucker.
Don't know where I stand on Laffterty/O'Connor/Sceviour, but I like that we have some players that can step and in play hard, especially when the injuries happen.
Let's Go Pens!

Pens fans and meltdowns are like peanut butter and chocolate, that won't be a difficult task :| but I am not expecting him to be a Rantanen or a Kane, just someone who can help drive play and cut through neutral zones. I wouldn't even be mad if he ended up as 3RW, but Pens don't really have anyone else they can bump into the top 6 if Poulin isn't ready.

I really wanted Jesper Fast, and for the cap hit I was sad to see them miss out! You are absolutely right about that 3rd line, would be much better than what we have had too. I just feel like Perry shined a bit more in the WCF/SCF and overall wasn't much to be had during the season. It is cheap and only a year so it's not like it hurts them by any means, I think I just don't like him :tearsofjoy I also wouldn't hate picking up someone like Trevor Lewis or Caggiula, but they might be $800k < so might just be thinking too high.

Islanders get better
Definitely put a lot of work into this! Definitely feel ilke you set NYI for success with the guys coming in being under contract. I think you might even be able to lock Barzal up for slightly under that number, or even do a 3 year deal at a lower AAV. You do need a little more cap space for scratches/callups/etc., but the team definitely has some flare.

good luck scoring on this team

Quoting: MG1986

I like the Toews move, I like the Saad move. Thought for what Hall ended up getting, the Avs could have matched it, but oh well for that. I see the Avs still making deals to figure out a way to find a spot on D for Byram and to continue upgrading their secondary scoring. One move that might solve everything is a deal with the Flames. Let me know your thoughts.
TO CALGARY:
Tyson Jost
Samuel Girard
TO COLORADO:
Elias Lindholm
Sam Bennett
So the Avs lines now are
(1) Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
(2) Saad - Kadri - Lindholm
(3) Bennett - Compher - Burakovsky
(4) Calvert - Bellemare - Donski
Now that is tougher and adds additional secondary scoring, plus you free you a spot on D for Byram.

Damn, they get even better!! Also, Calgary gets some big pieces back. I am jealous as a Penguins fan! Trying to find something that I can offer from the Pens side for Jost/Girard, but I don't know what it could even be

I am sure that Vegas would LOVE ZAR, not sure exactly what they are looking for in a Schmitty trade. You did a good job managing the dominos if the Pens were to acquire Schmidt, which would obviously be a big recourse. I also like that you were able to reacquire some picks in all of this as well. Personally, no thanks on the UFAs. I just cant imagine trusting a Matheson/Hainsey pairing, especially if one of those guys above them go down with injuries. Jankowski is a good ZAR replacement on 4L. Still like McCann at 3C, imo!

Seattle is going to reap the same rewards that Vegas did and get a bunch of caliber NHL players sent with draft picks, so there is definitely still a chance! I wanna see some Puljujarvi magic this year too.

Damn.. I already forgot about the Klefbom news :( That's too bad. I don't see a ton of issues with this team. I like the Kahun signing. Interested to see how Barrie does this year. Absolutely love him buying in on himself to prove that he is still a good option. Play a season with McDavid, bank 60pts and boom, big money contract. Still think the defense needs to be addressed, but if Klefbom could come back at some point there might not be a need for a trade. Bottom 6 could use some leveling, maybe? I don't know anything about Haas, though.

Unstoppable
I am sure NY did not want to lose Toews but need to in order to sign Barzal long term. Colorado has the power to take advantages of situations like this, and Sakic is playing it smart. I am sure that it will happen again! I feel like this was a good trade for both teams (other than having to lose a really good player for draft stock). Colorado's D core is absurd and they can trade away one of these guys without even blinking. AND They are already looking at an extension for Landy. Unreal work on this team!

Realistic
I hope for Murray's sake he goes to Calgary or Minnesota. I would feel awful for him if he ended up in Toronto or Ottawa. I want him to be good so badly, he got way too much **** for having two mediocre seasons.
It's gonna happen, and it sucks, but I see him going to Ottawa for a 2nd and a prospect. Would be nice to get 1 of Ottawa's 3 first rounders but unless they REALLY want MM, I don't think they would do it. Otherwise it would have already been done.
My IDEAL trade scenario here (which is also probably completely unrealistic), is to acquire Dube out of Calgary. Heck, I would even throw in McCann with Murray if it meant getting Dube. Murray, McCann for Dube, 4th rounder would make me howl at the moon. Oh well, time to go back to day dreaming.

RMNB big claim
Wow.. Interesting stuff here. I can see Ovi asking for McDavid money, but I don't think him nor his agent would expect it in a flat cap. His contract is up next summer, yeah? Seems like too big of a chunk of Colorado's future, even for a perennial 40-50 goal scorer. They are one of the few teams that can handle a cap hit, though.
Other trades aren't rip offs, especially all being under contract. I think your defense looks better with Carlson & Jensen over Trouba & DeMelo.
Regardless of what happens with your team over the next 2 years, I feel it all falls on how Samsonov plays. If he can be a Carter Hart, then it works.

you think hornqvist (who will be 34yo by the time the season starts) with 3yrs at 5.3mil is worth a 3rd, you are out of your mind.
not to mention he cant stay healthy lol
12-13 - injured
13-14 - played 76
14-15 - injured
15-16 - played all 82
16-17 - injured
17-18 - injured
18-19 - injured
19-20 - injured

I don't expect COL to make this move, but yikes if that is your evaluation of Hornqvist's play then that is brutal. He scored 130+ goals in those injured seasons you highlighted. There might not be a better net front presence in the league. If his contract was shorter it would be an even better player to have. And everyone on the Penguins is injured at all times so that just isn't a fair comparison :tearsofjoy

Rutherford Pens have offers on the table for one of his goalies
Not completely thrilling news, but to be expected. A tough goalie market especially with Kuemper now a potential trade target, I would guess Murray is only getting a 2nd or 3rd rounder when GMJR is probably looking to add a roster player as well. I think the right decision is to trade Murray due to his age and how much he should make, but might be getting a better return for Jarry. Definitely not an easy move.

The good news is that the top 6 is fast and interchangable, the bad news is that it doesnt fix the other holes in the lineup. The 4th line is good not great, Blueger and Tanev are great guys to play there and ZAR is fine but would be nice to see a speedy winger down there. I don't know what you do with the 4th line. McCann is great and pray they give him the time to get his game back from this season, but hornqvist doesnt really benefit from playing on a third line that doesnt generate a lot of chances or shots. I still like Simon but not sure he fits there either. Can't imagine GMJR is moving forward with these forwards as is. Guess we'll see (im scared)

Jake bean would probably have been an easy replacement as he is a better prospect. Could probably increase the draft choice as well.

I agree with your logic on the goalie tandem, and Jarry might be the cheaper option moving forward. I just don't really know if Murray/Jarry would be the definitive selection for Seattle, but it would make sense to not take a chance. They can get a much better player for Murray though. I like Haydn Fleury, always have. The value of the Carolina package isn't much better than getting another year of Murray and losing him for nothing though. And I would 100% rather have Bjugstad for another year than Kyle Turris for 4 years. I love your contracts here though
