hate to say, but when they signed Faulk, i think AP is a cap casualty, unless Parayko is moved

if it makes it more plausable for you, then sign Mikhylev for 2yrs x 2M, and bring in B. richardson for clifford at $500k less; and then sign AP for 7 x 9.25M

I believe on the open Market AP could get $10M; but he can play in Canada, hockey hotbed, on a cup contending team, he's got a ring may want a new challenge, way more in endorsement opportunity, etc....... its not likely, but its not crazy

Trades can still happen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BLIvingston33</b></div><div>First of all Koivu refuses to waive the no-trade and said the decision was final. Secondly, if they did make a trade imagine a guy comes in and helps them get into the playoffs and then can’t even play in them, that’ll really be a disaster waiting to happen when you can’t put your best team on the ice.</div></div>
the koivu thing was very unlikely, but the other 2 i could see.
the guy can't feel bad about not playing in the playoffs when he isn't going to be playing in them now. imagine you are Daley/Hainsey, i'm sure proud men who have had to deal with the season thos teams have had, both have ties to Toronto; and then imagine getting to live your last 20 games as a professional playing intense playoff style games....... or showing up to play/sit out the string in DET/OTT
and as far as best team goes, these guys are not part of the best team, those guys are on LTIR

i did consider adding Johnsson, but then a pick would need to come back to TML
RoR/Schenn/Bozak/Barber; STL is stacked at C already IMO

Holland is actually killing it
i wish you godspeed....... but every Leaf fan has been hearing, they are too small, they are not good defensively, you win with Defense, etc...
Ennis/AA/Green are small speedy, puck movers who are at best questionable in their own end and don't have size. so when railing again Dubas just remember this day

Parise
this is dicey for Lou.
Parise is a better player sure, but
a) year older with back issues
b) in real $$ costs the Isles +$6m
c) will need to give up an asset (Ho Sang as rumored)
d) will then also have dead cap (over what Ladd was) of +$6M in years 5/6
e) depending on retention will be more $$ AAV than Ladd as well.

tough to say how a Price deal would go down, Habs fans still think hes the best goalie in the world, the rest of us see a 32.5 year old signed for another 7 years @$10.5m currently with the 30th best SV% (goalies who have played 10+ games)
basically any Hab fan will hate it and the fans of the teams acquiring him on ACGM will think you overpaid....... its like every leafs trade on here "auto poo poo'd"

curious if Dubas sees him as a Kappy replacement at $2.5M less?
small, speedy, can probably put up 25-30 points a year with 8-10G; may not be what they need defensively, but then again is Kappy?

hit me with your best shot scheif
as a Leaf fan i woulnd't but hear me out:
Matthews 5 yrs x $11.634 + + F. Anderson 2 yrs x $5.0 + M. Rielly 3 yrs x $5m (leafs then re-sign Muzzin/Dermott)
for
Schiefle 5 yrs x 6.125 + Hellybucyk 5yrs x $6.166 + Pionk 2 yrs x $3.0 + Perrault 2 yrs x $4.125
WPG gets the best (and most expensive) player in the deal
Schiefle is RH C; local boy for TML
Rielly/Morrisey gives WPG 2 pairs vs any line
TML takes on the perrault $; and gets a RHD to replace Barrie
TML gets more G $ security

will you Choo Choo Choose me
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>In theory, I have no real issues with any of these deals. All of Foligno, Rowney and Coleman can play 200-foot games, can all play the gritty game and can all kill penalties. My question is can Jonas Brodin actually play on the right side? It didn't work with Muzzin, it didn't work with Dermott. It would almost be be more worth it for the Leafs to get Damon Severson from the Devils, instead of Jonas Brodin, if the cost for Brodin was both Dermott and Kerfoot. Severson is not nearly as good in his own end as Brodin, but I think he is plenty underrated and has 2 more years on his contract than does Brodin.
If the Leafs were actually serious about contending, they would stick with Liljegren for the rest of the season and move Barrie. While he a decent power play guy, and decent might be an overstatement, he has been as bad as, if not worse, then Ceci in our own end. Sandin should handle first line PP work until Rielly gets back and Muzzin can handle second line PP work.</div></div>
agreed with the brodin stuff, initially i had him on the Left till 44 gets back, thats when choices need to be made.
the part about Brodin i did like is that he would be a natural replacement (at maybe $2m less) for Muzzin next year; and then in 2 years Sandin can take the #2 LHD spot, and hopefully a Kral/Teemu/UFA guy as #3

until Johnsson / Mikheyev come back from injury, perhaps yes, he would be the "Hyman" for that line.
if you prefer Coleman can move up to 2nd Foligno to 3rd/4th with Clifford, or Engvall can go to LW

so your 4th line C; and a 2nd? paid RHD isn;t worth a 25 yr old LW who is a +.5ppg player (who gets under 15mins and no PP time) who scored 20 goals last year (and also signed for another 3 years), and a 22 yr old RW Debrincat jr who lead the AHL in scoring last year? maybe there is some pick swapping to do, but "not even close" is funny when your current LW/RW consist of
Kubalik (will he maintain his 17% sh% ?)
Caggiula
Saad (who may be traded)
