A Realistic Oilers Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>You're overpaying for Henrique AND for the secondary retention.
And putting McLeod on the 4th line is a non-starter for me.</div></div>
Mcleod could easily swap with Janmark who is probably more at home on the 4th line.
As for Henrique, I don't claim to have an amazing grasp on how much people are offering for him.
My guess is that teams are willing to overpay for the remaining good centres such as Wennberg and Henrique.

edit. What about swapping Chiasson for Archibald or someone else so the cap is still close?
What about retaining half on Smith so the Caps can either bury him or Samsonov in the minors?</div></div>
Ok. Just made a deal. Check it out.

How about this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I kinda think last year, defensively, Panik was the best player in the idea, because he played against decent competition and had decent fenwick, and Copley would be the most valuable to Edmonton as a proven backup goalie for two years at almost no cap hit.
The Caps have nine established NHL wings, three goalies, and four centers. They're not giving up a depth goalie for a depth wing who they already had at 4R. Panik is as good a goal scorer as Chiasson when given the same opportunity.
Ages are Khaira 26, Copley 28, Panik 29, Chiasson 30? WSH could throw in a 7th to balance that if Edmonton getting the two players it needs the most in the deal isn't already enough. Or build your own Copley offer out of picks/prospects/cheap center depth?</div></div>
What about throwing Mike Smith into the deal?

Playoff team in the making
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Your 2nd line compared to the other teams in your division is subpar. Match them up against Tampa or TO and it's not even close. Eichel may be even against Matthews but JT vs Staal? Or Stamkos etc. And beyond Dahling and Jokiharju I don't see a good defence that matches up against Boston, or Tampa or TO or even Montreal or Ottawa. Goaltending wise, it's not even a conversation. The problem with Buffalo is they get a GM and tell them, make us win right now and they just don't have enough pieces and it fails. It will again here and Adams will be fired in 2 years.</div></div>
Worse D than Boston?
At this point, they may be somewhat on par w the loss of Krug.
I could see Tampa having another solid season, but with Toronto there's always questions, they were almost overtaken by Florida last year, Buffalo could out them even.

Just why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>It only works if NSH has a top 4 RHD replacement for Ellis planned. But also, I just don't see Poile being interested. He's the associate captain (not assistant) and I think Poile is very high on him.</div></div>
I doubt Nsh will ever trade Ellis, but in the case of a potential trade for Nylander, it would be a win-win situation, Nashville's often struggled on offence, and a scoring winger in his prime could be just what they need. With Toronto, need anything more be said?

That can definitely be done, seeing as they now can't get Hall, they should definitely have lots of cap room.
