What is the St Louis thing
The only "conversations around Parayko" are GMs calling and being told no out of hand. That and clickbait nonsense from Pagnotta beating the same dead horse over and over and over again because everyone falls for it every time and he gets to keep his job.
He's not available, and if he was that offer above ain;t gonna start a new conversation.

How about this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmgthegm_1</b></div><div>What about throwing Mike Smith into the deal?</div></div>
Caps don't have any cap space, and have two starting goalies, plus two backups.
edit. What about swapping Chiasson for Archibald or someone else so the cap is still close?
What about retaining half on Smith so the Caps can either bury him or Samsonov in the minors?

Playoff team in the making
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmgthegm_1</b></div><div>Worse D than Boston?
At this point, they may be somewhat on par w the loss of Krug.
I could see Tampa having another solid season, but with Toronto there's always questions, they were almost overtaken by Florida last year, Buffalo could out them even.</div></div>
It's going to be interesting for sure. Personally I see TO coming on very strong. They have a much deeper Blueline, they still have decent depth up front, especially if Barbarov and Robertson play well. Andersen will bounce back, Campbell is a very good backup and a full season under Keefe will make a big difference. Couple all that with the chip on the shoulder attitude the core is going to have after hearing so much **** from everyone and this team will want to prove everyone wrong. Tampa won't be as good since they are going to lose several pieces. Boston's age will catch up to them but still both teams are better than Buffalo. If you stay healthy you will be fighting for a wildcard spot and could make it sure but that's about as far as I can see you going. There is just too much power ahead of you.

How about this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmgthegm_1</b></div><div>I'd be inclined to keep Khaira and trade Chiasson.
Who's also more comparable to Panik and around the same age.</div></div>
I kinda think last year, defensively, Panik was the best player in the idea, because he played against decent competition and had decent fenwick, and Copley would be the most valuable to Edmonton as a proven backup goalie for two years at almost no cap hit.
The Caps have nine established NHL wings, three goalies, and four centers. They're not giving up a depth goalie for a depth wing who they already had at 4R. Panik is as good a goal scorer as Chiasson when given the same opportunity.
Ages are Khaira 26, Copley 28, Panik 29, Chiasson 30? WSH could throw in a 7th to balance that if Edmonton getting the two players it needs the most in the deal isn't already enough. Or build your own Copley offer out of picks/prospects/cheap center depth?

Playoff team in the making
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PleaseBanMeForMyOwnGood</b></div><div>Possibly, but you are still shallow and have more questions than answers.</div></div>
Where are the questions?
You have 2 solid lines 3rd line is still be constructed but looks like it's gonna be young so is that it? 4th line is overpaid but is solid. Defense is pretty much the same as last year and was a top 8 d 5v5. Ullmark had a .920 save percentage when healthy so add a back up goalie?
Like if the 3rd line and backup G are the biggest question they are doing just fine.
They will be right in the mix with the top 3.

Just why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmgthegm_1</b></div><div>I doubt Nsh will ever trade Ellis, but in the case of a potential trade for Nylander, it would be a win-win situation, Nashville's often struggled on offence, and a scoring winger in his prime could be just what they need. With Toronto, need anything more be said?</div></div>
In a vacuum, the deal makes a lot of sense. But NSH's D would be pretty bad if they lost Ellis. Fabbro should turn into a good top 4 defenseman, but he struggled a lot last season and is likely a couple years away from being a real contributor on the team -- and NSH's D prospects aren't that great either. They have a couple that seem ready, or close to it, but they don't project to be more than 4/5/6 defenseman. So unless NSH can add a top 4 D elsewhere, I don't see how it helps them. And to top it off, Josi - Ellis was one of the top defensive pairings in the league last season - so I can't see Poile being too eager to break that up. They could just sign Hoffman or something -- older and not as good, sure, but they don't lose Ellis in the process.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmgthegm_1</b></div><div>I mostly did it because resigning him could be upward of 5M, and with an upcoming resign of star goalie Carter Hart and various depth players, I didn't want to lock into a too-large contract.
But yeah, you've got a point, resigning for a year on a smaller contract might have been better.</div></div>
He won't get beyond a 2 year deal on the cheap. One year $1-1.25 million works best for all parties involved. Flyers don't have to worry about putting him on LTIR beyond a year and get a potential bargain. Patrick gets some extra cash in the bank on a prove it deal if he can be healthy. I'm hoping he gets healthy and can contribute from a Flyers fan stand but on the human level he seems to be a good level headed kid and hope he finds success whether it be here or somewhere else.
