Also, I don't know how I didn't notice this previously, but how is Bergeron not on this list? He deserves a spot over Getzlaf, Perry, and both Sedins. This one shouldn't need to be debated.

100% he’s been a top scorer every year. Maybe Tavares even should be considered. there’s a couple of guys who have maybe passed their prime but we’re dominant during 2010-2017

Keith and karlsson were probably the two best d of the decade. Toews and Kopitar also deserve a spot on here

Here are players I think should be added
Connor McDavid (well, duh!)
Nathan MacKinnon (if Crosby and McDavid didn't exist, he'd be the best center if not the best player in the league)
Auston Matthews (has been plagued by injuries, let's see how he does without)

Ah okay, makes sense now, also gets a lot harder lol. Probably Duncan Keith should be on here. He was so dominant from 2010-2015

It’s tough cause guys like Mcdavid and Mackinnon have been outstanding this decade but have only played 5 years or so, would you consider them for the list? I’d also probably put Erik karlsson on here just because of how dominant he was in Ottawa.

What if pens got 1st pic in 04
The penguins are arguably the team who was effected the worst by the salary cap.
They had the young talent to win a ton of cups and it wasn't even close with everyone else.
The NHL basically stole a dynasty from the penguins so the rest of the league could live.
Those are pretty much the facts. After FA tore this team apart it took like 10 years for them to get to the cup again. But they were clearly heads and shoulders above everyone else prior to the cap stealing the team of young talent.
Which is exactly what would have happened here. The reason they got rid of Staal is they couldn't afford to pay him. You pay OV....no Staal money.

Wasn't it Florida who tried to draft Ovechkin in that Draft? Basically argued that if you ignored all the leap years since Ovi was born, he would have made the cutoff

Maybe Ovechkin would already have career 800G. Or maybe he'd struggle to find chemistry with Sid and/or Geno. Either way, I think things have worked out pretty well for both teams.

And I guess they wouldn’t have Fleury, so you never know. You couldn’t guarantee what would happen, since there are a bunch of little things that could go differently and have huge effects on the team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kotkaniemi15</b></div><div>Not really. Because if they have Ovechkin in 2003-04 they probably aren’t bad enough to get Geno, and the lottery balls don’t fall their way to get Crosby.</div></div>

Not much debate. No season in between.
I'd move Ovi to 2L on this team. I think he'd work better with Staal than the little guys.

Some Thoughts
We don't need Hall. Guentzel, Mccann, Kahun, and Rust have all made up for Phil's lost production we don't need anymore offense. However we do need goaltending depth which is why we should keep Murray and trade either him or Jarry at the draft for the picks we give up at the deadline to bring in depth

2020-2021 Lineup
Unfortunately the probability of performance bonus overage make some of this unlikely. Marino will get his and Kahun will get at least half if his play continues. Your scenario would still work if Johnson is bought out and if Gal has to take a 2-3 mill 1 year show me contract. You could understand his performance (or lack of) with a re-building MTL and ARZ teams but if he can't make hay with Sid or Geno, where are you at?

Sure, I’m not disagreeing with that. However, NJ and Toronto aren’t in the business to make it economical for the pens lol.

It would be easier to get Nylander to fit under the cap, however, I think he would cost greater assets such as Letang because he’s on such a good contract. Marner is the better overall player IMO and a solid point per game player. If he joins the Pens they would be unstoppable.

I don't like him at all he is carried heavily by John Tavares. And honestly overpaid for his play. I am gonna say he might have some skill but being the liability on defense not so much of someone I would look at trying to trade for.

He'll get a 1st and a prospect.
Teams are going to look at him and take a serious look as to whether he's worth what he wants.
He doesn't even have the same value as Stone in my opinion. Hall has had 2 good season. An 80 point year and a 93 point year, and there was a whole lot of not worth what he'll want inbetween, before, and after.</div></div>
I cannot agree more!
