@TJL Saying someone won't make the team for not being in NHL shape based on reports from early in July is just silly.
say he won't make it cuz he's 1 year out of Junior. Say he's too immature, inexperienced. But don't say he's out of shape. It doesn't take 4 months to get in shape.
I'd love to see Giordano or Monahan's conditioning in July. while it's probably not awful it's not going to be NHL game ready in the first week of July either.
Ask me again about being game ready in September then we'll talk.
I'd be totally fine with this line up come October I'd still resign Nak though it's familiar he's depth and he can play.

Kucherov
All fair points. The flames can't afford Kucherov and Brouwer with Kuch at anything more than 6million. They need the rest of that space for bonus payouts so they don't get nailed on going over the cap. That's factoring in the 3.5 relief for Smid IF SMID misses all season. If he doesn't ther'es about 500k coushin there. Just hope that Smid takes most of the season to come back if he comes back at all.
I thought the Johnny contract was right in line with Tarasenko's. I would be fine bumping up the 2nd and 4th rd pciks to a 1rst and 2nd for Kucherov. Would do that deal all day but that would be my starting point with Yzerman.
@tradejong - I think your last point there about Johnny home and away probably has a lot more to do with last change and shitty bob hartley tactics.
He didnt know how to line match up to save his life.
First season he sheltered mony and johnny more on the road.
Put Johnny on a team with a coach like Vingualt and i dont think youd see a big difference in discrepancy home and away.

Why would you trade Elliot who has bbetter numbers than MAF and less concussion issues. for MAF who has 3 more years at almost 6,000,000...

- I dont like a bridge deal for Gaudreau at all. Monahan okay i can see the justifications there.
But Johnny is an elite winger he's already proven it he's not going anywhere when it comes to regression he will if anything only get better. Therefore having Johnny lockeed in at 6-7 for 8 years makes a lot of sense you get top production for him at a very cost effective cap hit. If you do a 2-3 year bridge deal which is the max his agent would go without being insulted now you're pushing 25-26 and you're signing him for 8 years at 10-12M depending on where the cap is? you're asking for cap troubles as he ages and speed declines.

Yeah there is no way Carolina, is going to give you Teevo, Fleury and Lindholm for what is essentially Bennett. I wouldn't even do Lindholm for Bennett straight up if I were them.
Wideman is basically a cap dump. You're not gonn actually get a value in return for him (something with a name on it) if wideman is tradeable at all it will be a future consideration.

Most likely
Agree this is highly realistic for opening night. Though I doubt Vey makes the top line ever. He's a depth player at most.
I personally have Vey penciled in for starting in Stockton.
Minor nitpicky things that are largely inconsequential but for your info:
Wotherspoon had to be qualified at 105% of his 925k he made last season so he won't be signing for less than like 970k or w/e the math works out to Im too lazy to get the exact figure probably more like 966 but w/e. Pioint is the Flames can't offer Wotherspoon by CBA less than the 970k.
Tkachuk as all top 10 picks do will likely be offered the league max. 925k + bonuses for 3 years. Because he was signed at 6 I dont see him being offered less than mony or bennett. Anyhow just some minor things for you to be conscious of.

@Trdejong
All you ever do is rip everyone else without ever posting your own thoughts. If you're so smart as a armchair gm let's see your team put one together.
You're wrong about a few things.
Very likely that Tkachuk doens't make the team and gets sent back to junior. He's one of the younger players in this draft class. There's nothing wrong with that. He will get an audition though.
Furthermore, there's also huge question marks about his junior production. I dont' want to see the kid fail myself because he was our 6th rd pick and I want my team to be successful. However, reality check. here:
Tkachuk played with Marner and Dvorak last year and the year before he played with auston matthews... that's a huge red flag for his production.
Granted if they can transition him to right wing and play him wtih mony and johnny well again he's gonna benefit from those guys.
Poirier had a bad sophomore season. A lot of guys do. Doesn't mean he's instantly junk. He was asked to focus on his defensive game from the management down to Huska on top of a couple minor injuries not uncommon to see a drop off in production from those circumstances. Give him a season see what he does this yeasr before writing him off.
Hamilton and GIo didnt work as Hamilton was adjusting and Bob was a moron with a dumb system. Once he got the roll of things though Im sure they could play together again.
@hf: I don't really see Mony or Johnny only getting bridge deals. That's my biggest issue wiht your team here. Just dont' see it Johnny is proven he's a top scorer in this league. His ES pt/60 and primary points are indicative that this is just par for the course I sign him 7 or 8 years and give him what he want.
Mony - perhaps there's some questions there so you warrant giving him a bridge and see if he continues to produce. That being said 3 seasons no one from his draft class has scored more. Probably Gve him the money and just see if you can get his term down a bit. He's a legit 2C if not a 1c. needs hlp on his defensive side and shot suppression.

AW-Hartnell
CBJ does the deal because they need to protect Hartnell due to his NMC during the expansion taking up a spot that they'd have to use for the 7fw.
I think however to make this deal you need to include at least a second rd pick.
Then it gets done.
CBJ frees up space agains the cap and gets something for a player that they no longer need to protect. Flames get a useful albeit older fwd and contract. In exchange for moving up 3 spots.

CGY - Trades with TBL and CBJ
That's a lot of faith in a college kid who has about 7 games of pro. Who put up barely 20 points in his senior year of college.
CHances are Jankowski is not ready for any NHL action at this level for at least another year. ANd even then it's a long shot for him to be anything.

Flames CBJ trade
After Johnny who is really in the pipe on the left? no one... no one.
Bouma - Centre or Left
Shinkaruk - Centre can play the wing probably prefers the left but you can make him play the right im sure.
Ferland -lw or rw
Poirer is the only true LWer they have in the pipes right now and Im not even sure he's legit ready for the NHL he needs to prove that.
So yeah Hartnell fits in fine line up wise. The question is can the FLames free up Cap to do it. Personally I think they can.
Alot of this is dependent on Smid being on LTIR for 70% of the season or more.
PErsonally I'd rather move out Bouma and Use Hartnell on the third or foruth line.
JOhnny - Monny - JP
Raymond - Backlund - Frolik
Shinkaruk - Bennett - Pribyl (if he's ready and can adapt to the N).
Hartnell - Stajan - Ferland is a decent bottom line.
Let Bollig go down to Stockton.
You can alternate Raymond and Hartnell if you want or send Raymond to the minors and use someone else there. Doesn't matter really.

Every team gonna ask for the moon.
Flames aren't going to give up one of Nylander/Dubois/Tachuk (especially given the propensity for one of those two teams above them to screw up their draft) for a 31 year old near 6m cap hit concussion prone goalie, sorry to burst your bubble.
Why would they? Reimer is available for free and he's an above average goalie gets the flames 3 years to let Gillies develop.

First of all, there's no teams looking for a goalie other than maybe Toronto.
The upcoming expansion drafts means there will be a ton of teams trying to get something for one of their two goalies because they can only protect one.
Why would you give up half the farm + a roster player that PIT will never take for MAF. Even at his prime Fleury wasn't wroth a 1rst, 2nd, 3 prospects and a roster player.
If the Flames get Fleury it will be for a 2nd rounder and a prospect.
Or maybe a couple of picks.

I dont see the utility in bringing Hudler back. He's too expensive when you can probably work out a deal and pay Hayes from NYR less.
Or Okposo on the open market for about 1.5 million more. Hudler with his age is Not worth it.

Look at the Luongo deal.
I'm sorry you're not getting what you think you should for Fleury.

When I created this.
I seen the CBJ trade as 6th OA + Mangiapane for 3rd.
THe Flames taking on Clarksons contract at full vlaue to save columbus money and getting Rychel for doing that.
The rights to colborne really being a pot sweetner. You could subistitue his rights for a second or third round pick. See if CBJ wants that. I Do realize CBJ is looking for a centre though.
So probably the conversation is gonna surround Bennett or Backlund... If that's teh case BT should simply hang up.

Big trade
Love me some Carey Price. He's a probably the best goalie in the league right now.
BUT we've seen how quickly a dominant Goalie can turn into nothing but an over priced contract.
Assuming you even get passed Bergevin's secretary hanging up the phone on you for mentioning the word price.
YOu're gonna give up 2 cornerstones, a useful all around player + a future corner stone for a star goalie and 33 y/o third liner?
When you have reimer available to the open market for what might amount to a difference of 30 goals per season between the two?
Think about it like this Frolik good for about 20 goals/season fairly consistently, Bennett protential for 30+ (right now though let's say 20), 6th OA down the road hard to say but let's say if he plays anywhere in your top 9 he's good for 15 (probably a chance for more), hamilton is good for 20GF (not even counting the goals against he prevents). So that's 75GF you just shipped out to save yourself 30GA in price say you get 15 From Plekanec (if lucky) you're still short 30Goals. from where you were before price. It's not worth it.
Id rather pay Reimer for free 4m x 4yrs and get make up that 30 goals in aggregate some other way.
