Krebs for Zadorov is interesting 🤨, but Indont know about Clifton who seems to only play well with a “B” on the front of his Jersey
How bout Krebs + Stillman FOR Zadorov and if it helps you out a 3rd FOR Joker

Kane but no
If we could get Schneider for retention on Kane & Lyubushkin,
I’d do that in a heartbeat
I’m guessing we’d have to give up more though
Since NyR is losing a talented young defenseman,
maybe we send them Ryan Johnson in this deal as well ?
Love, Love, Love the idea of bringing back McCabe to stabilize our 3rd pair
I’d actually put Schneider with him (for now) & keep Jokiharju with Power
At some point, i agree that flipping them could make a lot of sense- just don’t wanna put too much on Schneider’s plate before he’s ready
Puljujarvi I’m not so sold on
But if all we have to give up is Asplund, then ok i guess
Very interesting 3way trade idea here
Very interesting

Schneider is currently a 3rd pair defenseman
Of course, he’s young & likely to get better
But you do have to give to get
Schneider + what would be a fair trade to get Kane in your guys opinion??
And keep in mind, this is Kane at a drastically reduced Cap hit

tweaks for future
Flames are in a win now window but the next few years could be horrible if the cap doesn't jump. A player like Zary on an ELC is more valuable than Mittlestadt who is producing at a similar clip to Dube at a higher cap hit. Flames have enough middle six, 30 - 40 point guys, they need some real punch in their line up.

Demko to Buffalo
As a disinterested observer, I think that this is a bad idea for the Sabres. People who believe that a competent GM would take the risk of investing significant assets in Thatcher Demko before the trade deadline should research the history of why Jake Oettinger is tending goal for the Dallas Stars.
So let's assume that this trade occurs in the summer. (I'm going to ignore the unsigned Johnson.) Here are the possible outcomes of this trade:
1. Demko turns out to be far from the elite goalie his supporters contend that he was. No matter what happens with UPL and Kulich, Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
2. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie. Buffalo comes out ahead only if both UPL and Kulich don't pan out as well.
3. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but UPL turns out to be as good. Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
4. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but UPL turns out to be an elite goalie. Buffalo REALLY doesn't come out ahead.
5. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but Kulich turns out to be a top-6 forward. Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
6. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but Kulich turns out to be an All-Star. Buffalo REALLY doesn't come out ahead.
7. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but both UPL and Kulich turn out to be first-class NHL players. Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
8. Demko turns out to be a middle-of-the-pack goalie, but both UPL and Kulich turn into first-class NHL players, and at least one of them is very good. Buffalo REALLY, REALLY doesn't come out ahead.
9. Demko regains his form and is an elite goalie. Neither UPL nor Kulich turn out as well. Buffalo comes out ahead.
10. Demko regains his form and is an elite goalie, but the aggregate of UPL and Kulich is roughly equal. Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
11. Demko regains his form and is an elite goalie, but one of UPL and Kulich turns out to be of equal impact. Buffalo doesn't come out ahead.
12. Demko regains his form and is an elite goalie, but both UPL and Kulich turn out to be of equal impact. Buffalo REALLY doesn't come out ahead.
Now I will be the first to concede that #9 might well be the single most likely outcome, but the risk presented by the other 11 possibilities is simply too great for any prudent GM to take.
Or, to put it another, simpler, way, <a href="/users/jonnymc26" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@jonnymc26</a> is right.

I know D-men take longer to develop, but Docker was drafted in 2018 and few 23 yo are prime prospects.
Would one not think he should be able to put Holden in the press for a few games.
Buffalo could use a RHD, unlikely Zaitsev is the answer even at $1,000,000.
Docker would be the minimum price to pay to move Nikita and his $4,500,000 cap hit as his ceiling appears to be 6th/7th Defenseman.

1. We get rid of Zaitsev's full cap hit for this season and next season as well.
2. In this scenario, Buffalo is paying Zaitsev's signing bonus, not Ottawa.
3. We are currently offering a high pick/prospect to dump Zaitsev, according to Kevin Weekes.

Actually Blow it up
Not gonna get into value, the sabres have thompson and cozens, and then savoie, ostlund, and kulich that they just drafted. I think reasonably the sabres have to admit that mittelstadt isn't a center and then decide how best to fill that spot. Centers are very important to me, it's nothing against petterson, it seems like not a great way to spend that cap space. I think a short term two way center that can pass would make sense for us. Plus a physical defensive d, preferably a righty.

Zaitergeist
I'd ask for more than that if they want us to eat that contract. 1 year of Marleau (who was still a good player) cost the Leafs a 1st to move. That 1st turned into Seth Jarvis. Not saying that it costs that kind of player/prospect to move Zaitsev, but he isn't a good player and has 2 years left. Meaning I'd ask for Thomson, not JBD, and perhaps a pick as well. Otherwise, its not worth Buffalo's time

Makes a lot of sense, especially since Zaitsev clears the books as soon as we would need to resign a lot of high end players.

Recope picks next year
That’s just a bit too much for Knight
Especially since he’s been playing just “ok” so far in the NHL,
& hasn’t exactly looked like a “franchise” goalie yet
I think a more realistic trade would be:
Piece1: good young goalie
-Portillo- highly rated, playing in NCAA at Michigan
or
-UPL- been splitting between AHL & NHL, looked good lately
Piece 2: since u need LH defensemen
-R.Johnson- our top LD prospect, plying in NCAA at Minnesota
*both NCAA guys are ready to sign
Additional pieces: idk how much more we’d give you guys, but…
-we do have three 2nds this year, so we could give 1 up- idk about giving you 2 though

Rescinding an offer sheet can't be right. The player already has that contract. There's just a "blank" where the team name goes.

It’s a fun idea! If the rangers aren’t resigning Mika then he should be part of an Eichel package, but the Sabres have no use for him this year, so flip him to get more futures. And to take on Mika knights would have to move money out, a la Smith. Could see something like this happen depending on the surgery

Eichel value is only going down right now : all gms knows that he wants to leaves , so thats even worse for the sabres.</div></div>
Then they'll end up trading him to a more desperate team, see its not that his values is going down. Every single team in the league would move heaven and earth to have a player like Eichel, so there's going to be a bidding war and if the Habs don't ante up then they don't get him and Buffalo moves onto the next team.
It's the fact that each and every GM knows he wants out that's increasing his value rn, people don't realize the only thing holding up this trade is the expansion draft.

Definitely as unpredictable a draft as ever so grains of salt here but it's solidifying a bit and they could almost certainly trade down for Clarke if they were at 2
Wallstedt meanwhile very likely gone at 13 also
He's on par with the Guenthers in terms of overall value and I mean SJ (at 7 OA) might view him as a goalie oasis after being in the desert for so long
I think OP and Beniers almost certainly go 1 2
Next 7 picks very likely SE KJ DG WE LH JW BC

would you do it for that sweet cap space
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>Why on earth would Buffalo do that?!?!
Fleury is turning 36 & has been clearly declining for a couple years now
Even if Vegas held half his salary,
I’d STILL make them give us a 1st or some kind of sweetener</div></div>
I am not a Vegas or Buffalo fan so I have no horse in the race but I think this could make sense for Buffalo.
Even if Fleury has been declining, they still are getting a clear upgrade in a position of weakness. On top of that, they are getting a young stud in Hague who hopefully will develop into their second pair LHD behind Dahlin.
Having said all that, Yes the trade looks fair in a vacuum but Vegas should definitely add a high (1st or 2nd) pick into the package as its the price of gaining all that cap space.
