I’d honestly take that caps trade, I just don’t know how we’d play everyone. Bean would probably end up being the 7D and TVR becomes expendable but we just extended him.

I'm wondering if New Jersey would even be interested in signing Holtby. Lots of UFA goalies are available. Is Holtby really THAT good now?

Possible solution
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jspenc40</b></div><div>Why would both teams retain salary?</div></div>
It cancels out right now, but because hornqvist has a longer deal it would technically benefit the bruins by 550k for two extra years (so not much at all) ...... but also hornqvist is gonna stink in two years so this is just a bad deal overall.

Exactly, and you guys crushed the Blues, Stars, and the freaking Canes in terms of xg. I think this is an excellent looking team. Panik, Hagelin, Gudas, Kempny, Jensen, and Hathaway are all excellent acquisitions from the last two or three seasons.

What do you do when you take a bad contract, turn it into a worse one, (Neal for Lucic)? Why not trade good assets for another terrible contract.

Reirden Out
I mean the Blues were a terrible team up until Jan 2019. So yeah, the Caps have 6/8 possible points and are 2-0-2. The sky isn't falling. They'll make the playoffs, but they need to get some things sorted out if they want to make a deeper run than last year.
Still a lot better than the Pens. 0-4 vs 3-4. This is what really counts.

My take on the 20-21 Caps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jspenc40</b></div><div>Yeah Orlov looks really good this year so far (I know it's early), but I think he's gonna have a bounce back year without Niskanen. I wouldn't trade him. If you let Holtby walk, that alone buys you a lot of cap space to work with. I don't think you have to make a drastic move like trading Orlov, especially when you're going to be having a few ELCs on the roster.</div></div>
I personally wouldn't trade him either, unless it was for a great package in return. I think it's more a question of what we do with our two near-NHL ready defensemen in Alexeyev and Fehervary. I think Kempny is too important to this team defensively to trade. I'd like to see either of Fehervary or Alexeyev play on the right side in Hershey to see if they can play their off-side.

Trading Orlov could prove difficult with his NTC. I think he really likes it in DC and is really close with Ovi and Kuznetsov. Maybe Alexeyev or Fehervary can play the right side?

I dont see how Samsonov helps em to keep 22-man roster
Samsonov needs NHL starts to see if they can let Hotlby walk in 9 months. Copley is simply okay, but his main role at the moment is as exposure requirement for the Seattle Expansion Draft. If all goes according to plan, the goaltending tandem to start the 21-22 season will be Samsonov and Vanecek. No Holtby or Copley.

I am thinking that it will be $168,649 savings... (suspension for 4 days)
However, last year this site's man pages calculated correctly, but the AGMs did NOT account for Wilson's suspension. So if they didn't adjust the software the AGMs will be off all year like they were last year.

Nooooo. Gudas is MUCH better than Niskanen. Niskanen has been declining for 2 years. Gudas has been putting up legit top 4 underlying numbers for years. But anyways, you got it wrong in that Jensen will be 2RHD, Gudas will be 3RHD.
Siegs in 30 games has been amazing. He has a 56xGF% with 45% ozone start. That's extremely impressive.
Caps bottom pair is a lot of teams 2nd pair.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jspenc40</b></div><div>Gudas is by all metrics better than Niskanen. Nisky's play fell off hard last year. It's gonna be that 6th spot that's a question mark, but Siegenthaler showed promise last year, and the coaching staff is very high on Fehervary. It's not their best D group ever, but it's solid enough with that forward group.</div></div>
Siegs had far and away the best defensive metrics of anyone who played more than 20 games for the Caps last season. Smaller sample size, but he looked good.

Gudas has much better underlying stats than Niskanen, at least last season. Gudas was also only on the ice against 67 high danger chances against...Niskanen had like 299. At even strength.

I wouldn't play Eichel and Johansson together. They are probably your best two puck possession/space creators - Let one help Reinhart and let one help Skinner.

Vesey can be 1st line winger...or Tage, Mittlesdat should be #2 Center with Sam as the winger. Goalies switched and Larsson in for Girgensons and it not horrible. Also Dahlin won't play with Risto, it will be Montour or Miller ... Montours injured rn...U got Eichs, Skinny, Victor, Dahlin, Rodri, and Okposo right.</div></div>
Johansson is better than 3rd or 4th line guy. You will be pleasantly surprised as long as he keeps his head up.

1) This team looks significantly worse than our current roster.
2) Maybe Matthews said, "Hey Dubas, I will not sign a contract longer than 5 years."
3) Maybe Marner and Nylander said, "Hey Dubas, we are not going to sign anything until our ELCs are up."
4) "Tavares"
5) Matthews-Kadri-Haula <<<<< Matthews-Tavares-Kerfoot
