<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Why would Tanev merit a 5m X 2 year deal? It's 2024. Looks like you lost Giordano and Timmins to waivers, and Minten. The obsession with Tanev fascinates me.</div></div>
Because he’s a top pair shutdown defenseman that the Leafs have been looking for for 10 years. Gio can hit waivers i doubt he gets claimed and Timmins is in the trade.

IMO Minten is pretty equivalent to that 1st round pick as this draft has a pretty steep drop off once you get to the 20th pick or so. He was an early 2nd round pick (which is what Calgary is looking for) and has developed nicely since being drafted. I think there is a deal to be made around Tanev for Minten just depends on the other pieces Calgary might be interested in.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LosPatos</b></div><div>Veteran doesn’t necessarily mean age. That’s what they’re trying to say and it makes sense. Marner has over 500 games with 50 career playoff games. That makes him more experienced within all points of the game (regular season and playoff). Veterans don’t have to be 30+. Look at Michael Bunting he’s almost 28 at last year was considered a “rookie”</div></div>
Keller has played 442 NHL games. If you wanna call Marner a veteran then Keller is also a veteran.

What I'm saying is you can't call one of them "young talent capital" and the other a "veteran player" when they are literally born 14 months apart.

No reason to dump Timmins for nothing. Justin Holl will fit nicely in that spot for Pittsburgh.

I agree but the options are limited with JT, could either move him to the wing on that 3rd line and sign a 2C or swap him with Lowry, both aren't great options. If he would waive to another team I'd move him in a heartbeat.

Make it Lowry for the BOS 1st, the MIN 2nd and... a good prospect. Not sure how TOR has in Junior or the AHL that's ready to jump the NHL.</div></div>
Was looking for a WPG fan's perspective, Leafs could send BOS 1st, MIN 2nd and someone like Roni Hirvonen, William Villeneuve, Ty Voit. Or something along the lines of the BOS 1st, NYI 3rd (2024) and Fraser Minten.

The Justin Holl trade is a good idea. However the next 2 trades are completely unnecessary Dumba isn't that good and Raty is no where near Nylander value. Also wheres Rasmus Sandin?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Riley816</b></div><div>Best Juniors league? WHL, OHL, QMJHL. USDP/USHL?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Octopus_Guy</b></div><div>That's a great question & a great debate.
Younger me used to think the O-Show (OHL) was churning out the best talent but after the covid lockout & with recent drafts I'd say the U-Show (USHL) is really good.
At the end of the day I respect all of those junior leagues.
As a Red Wing fan I know Mantha & Zadina played in the Q. Cossa & Hanas play in the WHL. Buium & Mazur played in the U.
Most of the Wings other prospects of recent, and some of the best, played overseas in Sweden or Germany leagues.</div></div>
I think it definitely varies year to year. I’ve always thought the OHL and WHL had a slight advantage over the Q. The USHL is better for the more raw prospects as they essentially use those years as development for College hockey. The USHL is usually alot younger because of this and the fact that the CHL always has 3 20 year olds on each team. Very different leagues imo.

Debrincat will cost ALOT more than that. I don't think Edmonton has the assets to acquire him. Would have to start with 2 1sts, Holloway, Yamamoto/Puljujarvi and then whoever their next best prospect is.

I'm hoping Sandin can learn from TJ Brodie who makes it look easy on the right side although I see your point. I'd love a mean top 4 RHD more than anyone but no one seems to be giving them away.

Yah I usually send him to Seattle in these ACGM's, I think you would probably only get a 4th out of either of Seattle or Arizona since they will be higher picks in the round.
