<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jchafe77</b></div><div>If wings fans seriously think they're "competing" next year, you are sadly mistaken. Good luck doing it with Larkin and... and... ummm, yeah... LARKIN!
Bertuzzi is exactly going to get you this offer, because seriously... the price tag you guys think is on Bertuzzi is not that. Would you (wings fans) like to acquire a player who is currently coming off of a back injury, and may quite never be the same again? Toronto can afford to lose a couple of prospects, because itll be 3-5 years before they even get a chance to get to the big leagues.</div></div>

Mantha got a 1st and Vrana when everyone on this site said a comparable was Domi and a 2nd. Right now Bertuzzi is a part of our future and we don't want to move him, so to get him it's an overpay. Seeing as he is an RFA and has team control he would be cheaper than what Hyman would command on the open market with a couple more years of team control. You're correct in saying the back injury is a risk to take but if Bert can put up close to 50 on Larkin's wing imagine what he could do playing with Matthews or Tavares when healthy. Change Liljegren to a LD prospect and it's probably fair. Don't know much about Der-Arguchintsev but a conditional second that could turn into a first if leafs make the conference finals (or something along those lines) would be nice.

also I don't think any of us realistically think the wings are close to competing yet, we're at least a competent starting goalie away from that
