it kinda makes sense oddly enough
BUF can use the picks and Niku to grab a Center of value
or get creative make a deal for Wheeler to NSH in a bundle for Ryan Johnson (his value's low but he's still young enough and has potential )
Laine gives them a Goal scorer on a level they've never had

Lots of teams can afford him, but really is he worth it? Wouldn't want my team to "win" the Hall sweepstakes.

Go after Jake Allen instead. The cap is like minimum wage, as it goes up, so does everything else. One big giant circle

Well obviously they'd need to have the cap space before acquiring Hall, so that would demand a trade to be made before signing him. Which is very risky.

Winners of the trade deadline question mark
I do think when you have a guy who has the potential to slot in perfectly with McDavid and barely give up a lot you win. But I do feel Carolina made much bolder moves and put themselves in a chance to win the cup. Already being a deep defence they now it’s unfair.
Hamilton - Slavin
Pesce - Skjei
Vatanen - Edmundson
Gardiner - Fleury
That’s 3 top pair guys (Pesce, ham, slavin)
4-5 top 4 guys
And 8 nhl/ top4 cups/top6 guys. If they make the playoffs that team has a legit chance to win it

Senators and Red wings do they make the playoffs
Your lines are bizarre but it would come down to the goaltending.
C's are weak at 2c but 3c and 4c are strong (essentially it's larkin 3 excellent 3c's.)
Wings have two high end pieces (Tkachuk and Mantha) and then good depth
D is passable but not good.
G is really questionable. If Howard/Nilsson can be league average it's a bubble team.

20172018 draft how far do they go
A top 4 of Makar-Heiskanen-Dahlin-Hughes would be ridiculous. A pretty talented forward group but lacks some good role players as part of the depth. Goaltending is an issue too but a good defense could go a long way.

I dont disagree with the ahl part. He is an NHLer and KIngs are lucky to have such solid center depth

Take advantage of the defenseman market
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>uphere</b></div><div>I doubt Holland moves any defense by the trade deadline, he's more likely to add short-term veteran depth if he can do so cheaply. He's going to want to see how Bear, Jones, and Lagesson hold up in the closing weeks of the season, and hopefully in the playoffs as well. He needs a guy like Benning in order to support those less experienced players, and extra veteran depth is an insurance policy.
This summer is when he'll get serious about changing things up. He has strong prospects who are pushing up against less talented veterans. With Jones looking pretty established now, Holland will push hard to move Russell. Lots of rumors of interest in Larsson, but neither Bear not Bouchard are like to step in and replace him. So Benning would seem to be the odd man out. Failure to move at least one lefty and one righty results in the risks of delaying the development of Bouchard and Samorukov, and losing Lagesson to a waiver claim.</div></div>
Bear has been on the 1st pair since game 2, Holland doesn't need to wait to see what he has. Nor does he have to worry about Bear replacing Larsson as it has already happened.

Meh. This thread is a mix of people who see Brodin as a #3/4 guy in value and people trying to pinpoint what his value really is. It's a tough one because he has always been seen as the Ekholm- like cog hidden under the giants of Josi and Ellis, except here those are Suter and Spurgeon... and Dumba. However unlike in NSH, it appears the big names are trending down and Brodin is trending up.
It's a difficult one.
Martinez, on same term, went for 2 2nds. Brodin is better, but by how much is the question. Definitely getting more than 2 2nds. We know that.
I think this trade is bias to the Wild quite a bit... but it's in the right ballpark

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>papishark</b></div><div>You get real. You dont get good players for free.</div></div>
It's time to park the rhetoric and consider facts. Pujujarvi didn't light the NHL on fire during his time in Edmonton, but he is 21 years-old, is an elite-level skater and shooter, is 6'4" and listed at 232, and possesses all the attributes necessary to be a high-quality NHL power forward. He is the most heavily scouted player in the SM-Liiga, and one of the highest ranked players outside of the NHL. He may never be the star player he was projected to be in 2016, but he is a good player.

Columbus has no need for a LHD.... I’m guessing that trade is to anyone, it’s just Columbus can’t afford him next year and really has no need for another LHD.
