Unfortunately, Krejci said that if he can't resign in Boston, he will return to Czech Republic.
Anyone have any context as to why JT Miller had such a bad year in 20-21? Having not watched anything of him this year I pulled his GAR / xGAR stats from evolving-hockey.com and he is significantly down in both GAR and xGAR. similar to 16-17 before rebounding in 17-18.

More in the trade, or more money to re-sign him?
I wonder if Fiala would risk taking the Wild to arbitration this offseason. That would be 1-2 year deal.

One Year Deals
I think a lot of people are looking at long term S&P ramifications this way: Rask + Dumba = $10M... Rask + Zuccarello = $10M ... I am assuming Rask will likely play out this year and be a nominal cap placeholder for dead money. Then next offseason, when we can trade Zuccarello to 20 teams and Dumba to 20 teams, both possibilities will be explored to try to clear out some more cap. Obviously that doesn't count in the tradability of those players... just that there are some natural options that we have going into the painful years of the buyouts.
While the contract is in line with the term, I am not sold on 6 years for McCabe... we might regret that year 4... I agree with your premise of keep contracts short. It's really all we will be able to afford. I think 2 year contracts are okay as well as 1s. Thats just me though. I might go 2 or 3 on McCabe.

I am terrible at knowing what I am looking at when it comes to goalies... I like your description. I just assumed that KK needed more games because he tired out as the season wore on.

The more often goalie KK played the better, or more consistent, he was.</div></div>
I’d also add that he is following right in line with what Kuemper did… stretches of great play and stretches of very poor play… I am not ready to say that KK will put it together as a bona fide #1, but I am also not ready to call him a career backup. I suspect he will end up somewhere in between… and that’s worth keeping around if you can

Like the above team is definitively not a cup contender, and we know there are impending cap issues, so it’s seems counterintuitive to give up assets for a rental.
Its underwhelming, but I think we just need to patchwork center(s) with UFA and then look to trade off some salary next year via Zucc, Dumba, Greenway.</div></div>
I hate the idea of not contending at all for 4 years, but that seems to be where we find ourselves… I don’t know that trading Zucc, Dumba, Greenway get us a contender either

If Stastny fits best with Kaprizov and Zuccarello, then do you see Ek with Fiala? I could see a Fiala-Ek-Foligno (one volume shooter with some go to the net guys) or possibly a Boldy-Ek-Fiala

I find it extremely valuable. That said, their model doesn’t always predict the irrational nature of GMs on FA day, so I could see Stasny gettin as high as 1x$4 or 2x$5, I just don’t know if Guerin would go that high
He’s eligible for a 35+ contract, so that might play into it.

Evolving-hockey.com has Stasny projection of $2.1 for 1 year or $3.8 for 2 years… so I don’t expect he’ll get $5. Their projections are typically fairly close

I've been thinking alot about Strome and I don't think the Wild will go that way. Greenway's stock seems pretty high now and I've had positive responses from other teams' fans trading him for Tarasenko, Hertl, or as part of an Eichel trade. So I think you can get more than Strome for him.</div></div>
What’s added to Greenway to get Hertl?

For context, evolving hockey doesn’t have a 2 year deal as the most probable…but they do give contract projections for every term length.
They also specify whether the player is more likely to resign or go to FA (Bonino, MarJo etc…)

The incentive is whatever picks and prospects come with the cap dump... as <a href="/users/TanSor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@TanSor</a> said... it is typically a very high price... the budget/cap floor/cash teams have been the ones in the past to take on dead cap, so there is precedent for someone to be willing to take on Parise's Cap... especially when the real money is much lower. Buffalo wouldn't be taking on Parise for free. And I am not sure they are the right partner (if there is one) for Parise

They'd be on the hook for a lot of cap over the next 4 years, and basically a depth player for 4 years after that (think it's like $800k or so for the last 4 years of the buyout). If I'm Buffalo I'm asking for a truck load to do that</div></div>
Does the Parise - Henrique swap have potential? That's been my favorite ZP proposal so far.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hero9154</b></div><div>Buyout makes zero sense.</div></div>
From whose perspective? It has been reported (Michael Russo) that Parise would welcome a buyout because it would give him an opportunity to play in a more elevated role. MN doesn't want to buy him out or have him retire... both scenarios have a cap hit that they are not interested in. I can't figure out the "Mutual Termination of Contract"... I feel like if that was a viable loophole more teams would use that instead of a buyout. So MN either needs to suck it up and keep him... or convince him to waive his NMC. And it's easier to waive the NMC if Parise is guaranteed that he will be bought out... make some money in the deal, and then sign with someone else. The only player where the buyout probably doesn't make sense is Buffalo if they hope to contend in the next 3 years... but if they don't, if BUF is trying to build for 4+ years down the road then buying out ZP doesn't really matter as much as they attempt to stockpile young talent.
I don't think I would do this scenario, but a trade ZP for the purpose of buyout isn't totally outrageous.

I was just trying to figure out the cost of putting Parise's Cap into the Eichel deal.
If the ask is 4 top picks or prospects, then it is Sturm and O'Rourke to take Parise... which doesn't get it done on Buffalo's side. If they drop the ask for Eichel, then maybe... but as a Wild Fan l have a hard time trading 4 prospects/ 1sts ... it really hurts what we can accomplish 3+ years from now.

The only way Minnesota can afford Jack Eichel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Personally I think it would be a really bad idea for us to move both Rossi and Boldy for Eichel, regardless of whether or not we get to dump Parise. I know Eichel is a top 10 player and Rossi and Boldy almost certainly won't be as good as him, but we need those two to fill out our roster depth for the future top 6 with Eichel or without.
Trading Parise to another team for buyout purposes will probably cost us way more than it's worth.</div></div>
I'd rather not trade Rossi or Boldy in an Eichel deal.... the question was more about what the guess of Market Value would be... because I'd like to use Dumba in a different trade, and not have him be in the Eichel deal either. I'm curious about maybe 2021 1st, 2022 1st, Marat K, and someone else ... plus Parise.... but that doesn't seem like it's enough... just brainstorming...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TanSor</b></div><div>Sure, but after next year Rask is off the books (buying him out is a mistake imo) and we'd still have a ton of relief. All we'd have to do is trade two of Fiala, Dumba, and Greenway. Eichel is very doable, just a matter of putting together an offer that doesn't destroy our prospect pool and beats out other teams.</div></div>
What would the package for Eichel look like if the cap going the other way was Parise instead of Dumba? Buffalo has said all along that they want futures, but we need to shed cap, so if Parise gets traded and bought out by Buffalo, what would it cost? I assume the ask would be 2 1sts, Rossi, and Boldy .

It seems like that should have been classified as a retirement because Buff chose not to return but the team wanted him back.
I just assume that the NHL will find a way to stick the Wild with a cap recapture penalty

Found this on Puckpedia.com

What are the ramifications of a Mutual termination? Wouldn't Cap Recapture Penalties apply just as if he retired? The cap advantage has already been "spent". If not, does he have to play for another team in order to circumnavigate cap recapture penalties? Otherwise I would think that this loophole would have been used as an alternative in some cases to LTIR.
