That’s probably the better route to go. I was just curious what they do if they consider adding him to extend him and possibly let someone “overpay” for Klingberg in free agency. I’m sure Dallas briefly had the same thought, but they are way better at exercising patience with these scenarios

Truthfully, I’m just not a fan of giving up a bunch of major assets for a big name with the potential to end up just being a one-year rental. I’m a huge Kings fan and remember how badly the Lucic trade worked out for us, but I even thought at the time it was a massive overpay. I know 2015 Lucic is no Seth Jones, but I really hope that teams thinking about acquiring him really hit Columbus hard with his pending UFA status to bring down the asking price

Not a terrible offer for Wheeler, but I doubt that Blake pulls the trigger on a forward who will be turning 35 in the off-season. Also, I can’t see Winnipeg trading Blake Wheeler

I could get behind signing Hyman or possibly the Nuge. If they were dead sign on adding through free agency, I’d be tempted to let Athanasiou hit the market to free up a spot for Kaliyev though. I don’t think Arty should be stuck in the AHL next year

Not to mention, this year aside, his performance is one of the biggest reasons (not the only reason, of course, but a big reason) they've been bad the last three years. If he wants the team to be better, he could start by being worth eleven million dollars for them.</div></div>
I think he’s tired of losing because he didn’t have to lose for that long with the Kings. They made the playoffs his second year, and then 3 really deep playoff runs make him want success year in and year out. I just wish he could be patient, but I don’t think he’s ever needed to be patient for success until recently

That’s what I figured. I see Boeser as 30 goals year in and year out and was honestly trying to construct a fair offer.
Thought that Pettersson and Turcotte as a 1/2 punch with improved defense and the potential for another really good prospect could be a decent return, but
Like you said, Canucks have no reason to trade Boeser, so they can just say no and move on with life if they don’t like the offer

I really really like Turcotte and would rather hang on to him. I just think he might be the best valued asset among those that the Kings might be willing to part with. I can’t see them giving up Kaliyev, and having Byfield makes Turcotte expendable, as much as I’d rather keep him

I agree with you. I’d rather keep stockpiling high quality prospects and let them develop when we are a playoff bubble team at best than start throwing away futures. I’m pretty much just spitballing here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Devil1122</b></div><div>Trade Fleury for a first and a prospect. Trade that first, Vegas' first, Krebs, and Glass for Eichel</div></div>
Easier said than done. At most, there are 5 suitors for Fleury; any others than need him desperately are losing teams that likely end up on his no trade list (Buffalo, Detroit are good examples). Maybe they get a prospect and a roster player in return, or they have to retain salary to get a first rounder, but I can’t see them getting both for a 35+ year old goalie

This at least gets Buffalo’s attention. It opens up a discussion of whether it’s better to take good quality players now to start reversing the losing culture as soon as possible, or get all the prospects and picks.
Personally, if I am a buffalo fan, and my team trades our franchise’s best player in decades for “futures” and the return is nothing like the Lindros trade or, more realistically, the Duchene trade, they’ve lost me. I would fear that the Sabres maintain a losing culture and ruin top prospects much like the Oilers kind of did just before they drafted their lord and savior Connor McDavid

The Eichel Ransom Part One
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hockey_Nerd</b></div><div>I highly doubt Vegas looks to move Theodore at all. Moving him makes them incredibly thin at LD. I also don't think Tuch would be moved for Eichel. Not that Buffalo wouldn't be interested in him, but Tuch and Eichel played on a line in college and it sky rocketed Tuch play and value. I could see Vegas reuniting the 2 of them on a line to try to get the best of Tuch's low contract value.
I think a deal likely starts with Cody Glass (not negotiable), then likely includes Fleury for cap reasons, then go where you want with it. Likely at least a couple 1st round picks if Buffalo is rebuilding, then it really depends where Buffalo sees their main organizational weakness at. But I think younger, less proven guys are their target, not guys like Tuch or Theodore.</div></div>
I was just trying to find a way to make the money work in terms of acquiring Eichel. Fleury likely puts Buffalo on his no trade list, so maybe Vegas deals him to an “acceptable team” for a pick or prospect that they can use in the Eichel deal. Even though Eichel will still be an amazing player, giving up the top prospects for him when the team is up against the cap ceiling spells trouble when other guys in the top 6 start hitting free agency or regressing. It’s nice to have talented youth ready for when that day comes. Ironically, Vegas would be undertaking a major gamble here

Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bf3351</b></div><div>Its only been 2 years since the rebuild started, 2 more and it'll be over. No point in doing this. Kings literally need 2 top 6 wingers and a 2RD and the rebuild is over. Assuming Turcotte, Kaliyev, and Stutzle/Byfield pan out.</div></div>
I don’t want LA to rush things because having the best prospect pool in the league means options down the line. They can afford to be patient if guys like Kupari or Clague don’t materialize into anything beyond depth pieces. This is just my idea of what it would take to get Laine. “Slam dunk” 30-40 goal seasons like clockwork are hard to come by and would be costly, especially when a guy is in his early 20’s. It all comes down to if you want to pay this price. I’d be hesitant to trade away the 2nd pick in any blockbuster package, but I believe this is the price for the Kings to get Laine and they have the assets to justify it.

If you think he's as good as, say, David Savard, then you like this trade. If you think he's the functional equivalent of Cody Ceci or Nikita Zaitsev, you don't.</div></div>
I like Risto, but this trade just seems weird. It feels like neither team really gets better with this trade. It’s like scooping water out of one end of the pool and dumping it into another

I’m hoping for that kind of money too. I think he’s played well enough to ask for the 2 million range without coming across as unreasonable. With Matt Roy developing nicely, I don’t think there’s any urgency to lock down Walker for a lot of term.

If the Kings trade Muzzin, it will likely be more of a simpler player for player, 2 for 1, or a "seller's" type of trade where we just take in some picks or prospects. It's not a bad trade, but just not what the Kings are looking for right now.
