Another troll post. To think that Los Angeles would pay those prices for Shattenkirk and Muzzin.

Given our current roster, every trade Los Angeles makes from here on in has to be both cap-neutral and roster-neutral, and this trade is neither.
Dillon with sufficient retention for Sean Walker is about the only deal that works.

With Mikey Anderson and Sean Durzi to re-sign (giving us 7 defensemen) and 15 forwards under contract already (including the just-re-signed Gabe Vilardi), any trades from this point on will have to be at least cap-neutral and roster-neutral for Los Angeles, and this one is neither.

Torey Krug is a fine player, and earlier in the off-season we might have been able to entertain an offer like this. But with Mikey Anderson and Sean Durzi to re-sign (giving us 7 defensemen) and 14 forwards under contract already, any trades from this point on will have to be at least cap-neutral and roster-neutral, and this trade is neither. But the team down the road might be interested in talking to you.

The zombie Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles-in-spite-of-the-cap trades never stop . . .
Fortunately, the Kevin Fiala acquisition and Adrian Kempe signing have now made all Jake-Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles trades impossible. Pretty soon they should die out, as even Toronto fans will eventually get the numerical message.
Current roster:
11 forwards = $43.3 million
4 defenders = $17.5 million (Doughty, Roy, Walker, Spence)
2 goalies = $10.8 million
dead cap = $2 million
Subtotal = $73.6 million
Grundstrom = $1 million or more
Vilardi = $1 million or less
Turcotte, or other promotion from Ontario = < $1 million
Anderson = $2.5 million or more
Durzi = $1.5 million
Total = $80.6 million or more
Amount remaining for one LD = less than $1.9 million
So we couldn't fit Muzzin in at 50% retention ($2,812,500) unless you took Alex Iafallo back, which would mean adding your 2023 first-round draft pick to the offer.

Even if we trade BOTH Turcotte and Vilardi in a Chychrun deal (highly unlikely), we still have Byfield, Kupari, Madden, Helenius, Pinelli, Anderson-Dolan and Thomas in the pipeline. @kingsfaninSD is right.

I think that you're overvaluing Johnson's worth. There's a not inconsiderable chance that he plays out his college career and then waits three months to sign with either of his hometown teams, both of which need LDs. Inasmuch as the latest rumors have Walker being ready by training camp (instead of January), I don't think that there's much more than a fourth there.

I can't imagine ANY team in the NHL, let alone a team like Los Angeles that wants to add a top-line forward and therefore needs every dollar of cap, taking on Gallagher's contract without (1) at least 25% retention, and (2) getting paid for it.

When will it stop?
Once again, deluded Toronto fans refusing to give up on the Muzzin-back-to-Los-Angeles wet dream and still flogging the dead horse they had to dig up first . . .
. . . as if Muzzin would approve the trade to begin with.
Just out of curiosity, how does this segment of the Maple Leafs fanbase think the mechanics of this transaction would unfold? Doesn't it occur to anyone that before Dubas could make this offer to Blake, he'd have to go to Muzzin and ask him to waive his NTC? And who thinks Muzzin would prefer to return to Los Angeles instead of stay at home?
And the idea that we would trade local boy Trevor Moore, our biggest surprise of last season, for him is just cuckoo. Never mind the fact that Muzzin doesn't fit without at least 40% retention.
By the way, our offer for DeBrincat is Alex Iafallo, Alex Turcotte, Jordan Spence or Helge Grans, our 2022 first-round draft pick, and our 2023 second-round draft pick.

Being a contender in the West
Take Clarke out of the Arizona trade and the Kings would consider it.
The significant downgrade from Roy to Holl isn't worth the value gap between Robertson and Pinelli, if there even is one.
The Kings could probably acquire Kylington for less if they just picked up the phone and called Treliving to try and work out a trade.
LA does none of these deals.

FLAT CAP DECISIONS
{sigh} Yet another Jake-Muzzin-back-to-Los-Angeles fantasy. Have we reached the thousandth-time level yet? We're looking for a top-level young LD with term like Jakob Chychrun, Ivan Provorov or Mikhail Sergachev, not an expensive veteran who has a poor injury history, and we don't need stopgaps because there are several cheap UFAs that won't cost us anything to sign or pay. And Muzzin's cap hit would effectively preclude any acquisition of a true #1 LD or a top-line forward, which are our two actual primary needs and objectives this off-season.

Yet again, the zombie Muzzin-to-Los-Angeles pipe dream. The Kings aren't interested in this effort to shed significant cap.
Absolutely no interest in installing Jake Muzzin 2.0 even if he would waive his NTC, plus we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Jake's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to re-acquire Muzz. Will you Toronto guys please stop doing this? It's like the Montreal guys with their silly Jeff-Petry-to-Detroit trades.
For the record, here are the figures for Edler and Muzzin:
Edler, 41 games, 3 goals, 19 points, +18, 52.1 Corsi, 54.4 Fenwick, would not cost more than $3.5 million to sign.
Muzzin, 47 games, 3 goals, 14 points, -6 , 48.1 Corsi, 47.9 Fenwick, cap hit of $5.625 million.
