i'm not sure what exactly panarin's return would be, he's starting to decline and his cap hit is massive but you're still getting an established PPG player for three seasons so he presumably has value to a team with the cap space and title aspirations in that window. he also has a full NMC and can control where (if anywhere) he goes

it also saves them 1.3 million the year after that, if you want we can say it's two thirds instead of a fourth and a fifth and the bruins retain 300k less, the marginal assets being exchanged for mike reilly aren't the point of this exercise so i'd rather not get hung up on them

it can be any two mid-round picks, idrc. the price for a guy they placed on waivers earlier this season who doesn't fit into their short-term or long-term plans isn't gonna be much higher than that

valid! the depth on this roster isn't great, especially at C, one thing to note that i can't depict here is trouba and kreider's NMCs both become partial NTCs on 7/1/24 and at least one of them would be traded for cap relief that summer

bc the salary cap exists, he's a pending RFA, and the rangers decided to give large long-term contracts to two other centers in the past 13 months

good to know! the return for lindgren is just picks so you can replace detroit with pretty much anyone, i just used them bc yzerman seems like the type of guy who'd want a pretty good young defenseman on an affordable contract from a cap-strapped team

yea that's valid lol, i figure even if the bruins don't wanna risk losing him for nothing in UFA it'd take an absolutely stupid package including an immediate replacement to pry him away while they're this good

Yeah good points re the cost for Hornqvist, let's say FLA and NYR each send a 3 to DET instead of FLA sending a 5

that's... that's the joke... this package was basically spot-on and you acted like tkachuk was the one who needed more assets paired w him for an older star

yeah there's no way tkachuk fetches a superstar LW, a solid d-man, a first and another asset, good point

offer sheet kaapo kakko
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabresparaavida</b></div><div>But how would you be able to afford Bryan/Newhook the following year to begin with? Mackinnon’s new deal (assuming he re-signs) will eat most of if not all of the cap space that Erik Johnson will no longer require, and Compher’s 3.5 won’t be enough to sign them both and replace Compher.</div></div>
yeah it won't be easy, though the avs would be really smart to try and extend byram this summer
you're also clearing 2.4 from haula, and i don't think newhook's next contract is gonna be too hefty unless he breaks out in a big way next year. maybe you move the final year of reilly? there's enough flexibility here that i think sakic will be able to make it work, that's an effect of trading girard this summer and going into the season almost 3M under the cap

probably! i think that sort of package makes sense, though, the bruins didn't have a second in '23 or '24 or I would've thrown it in instead of a third
i'm sure there's a better fit out there, just figured haula and reilly make sense for the avs' depth needs and the bruins would want a young, controllable D

usually yes, but the rangers have hardly any cap space next summer and have to extend laf, miller, and chytil

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RoyalBlueSabres</b></div><div>Both these trades are wildly in favor of NYR</div></div>
for buffalo, they can have a second instead of giving one up i guess? i figured they'd want a controllable goalie enough to eat nemeth's contract but it's whatever, idrc about the package
for boston, i'm not entirely sure how much more than that pastrnak is fetching a year from UFA, but feel free to add any piece(s) that isn't another first rounder or roster player
in both cases, i'm more interested in the final roster than the trade costs unless they're *dramatically* different
