End of Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>QualityTrades1</b></div><div>That is quite the package for Edmundson. Why do you think he is worth that much?</div></div>
Do you remember how much Chiarot got sold for? This package is less than what Chiarot was sold for, and a first round pick wasn't moved (unless Edmonton wins the Cup).
Edmundson has over 45 playoff games in the last 5 years, combined with 2 Stanley Cup finals and a Cup in that span. His play style, not to mention his leadership qualities, fits what Edmonton's D-Core needs. As well, he's got another year on his contract at a very affordable price. To be honest, I don't even think that the Habs would make this move in reality. I head they were asking for Bourgeault +.

If the lineup were really based on who played the best in PS
Pitlick is easily the second best LW. Armia is probably the fourth best RW. Beck is the second best C. Guhle was the most LD impressive based on expectations, but Matheson was still better.

Rest of the Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Ok do you have a credible source? Eklund is far more credible this guy.</div></div>
He's obviously not Frank Seravalli or Eliotte Friedman by any means and I'm taking his words with a grain of salt, but it's still interesting to see a player like Drouin on a team like the Red Wings. Considering the moves that they made this offseason, I would be intrigued to see them make a relatively low-risk move like this.

Unless I read it wrong, I thought it meant that the Habs had received calls on both of them from those two teams.

Calgary Idea
I think both teams say no. This doesn't really help Calgary, and I don't think that this trade is in any way beneficial to the Habs. Although Harris needs some time, his age fits the timeline that the team is building towards far better than Kylington. I also believe Harris has serious potential to become an impact defenseman in his prime. Overall, not good for either team.

Hopes Based On Rumours
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>I have higher expectations for all of these trades from MTL's perspective except for Hoffman... maybe Anderson too I'm not sure how to judge that one.
Feels like this would be selling low. For example, Dvorak was just acquired for a 1st and a 2nd, why would trade him for a 2nd one year later?
Why would MTL trade Petry (while taking on Khudobin) just to move up from 62 to 18... and then trade Allen for Barrie presumably to replace Petry? Just keep Petry until a better offer comes along and trade Allen (assuming Price is even back).
With $6M in cap space, why trade Drouin (while retaining 50%) for a 3rd round pick? Better to keep him and hope he has a good year to be flipped for more at the deadline.</div></div>
I think these are very close to what Habs fans should expect from trades. Many of these trades clear up space for younger players to get their chance. The Dvorak trade was obviously a mistake, and the Habs would probably prefer to move on from him, even if they can't get a first back. Drouin needs a change of scenery for his own sake. He's been getting flamed by Montreal media and needs to get a second chance somewhere else. Moving up to 18 from 62 is huge, and definitely worth it. Rumours have already reported that the Habs will move Petry and acquire a top 4 dman to take that spot. Allen helps Edmonton with their goalie problem, and comes at a good price. If the Habs are willing to be bad, why not let Allen win somewhere else, and lose with Khudobin.

Detailed Hopes For Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ArakinSkywalker</b></div><div>I understand the thought of the avs trade but i don't see the avs burning a first to move johnson. He wasn't a negative asset this season, he played 3rd pairing minuntes for a lot of the time and put up 8 goals and 25 points. with one year left on his deal and then his money goes straight across to mack pretty much i think he's probily safe this season.</div></div>
I don't think I only consider the first compensation for taking on EJ's contract. It's also the price for Dvorak. It's been reported that if the Habs move him they can expect to get a late first in return. I retained on Dvorak and added EJ to help Colorado out, but that's not where the first is getting burned. It's really to acquire the 2C or 3C for 3 mil.

Gibson is more valuable to the Leafs than Nylander is. Championship teams need an elite goalie, unless you're Colorado.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GRIFFIN95</b></div><div>Nylander worth way more than Gibson.</div></div>
Not when the Ducks have leverage. They know that the Leafs need a goalie if Campbell leaves and have depth at forward. In essence, Nylander is much more expendable to the Leafs than Gibson is to the Ducks. As a result, his value is higher than Nylander's.

Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>They have a logjam at LD, RD is actually pretty thin once you remove Petry. Our best RD prospect is Mailloux after that we have Brook (who looks like a bust) and a bunch of guys who can play their off side like Romanov, Guhle and Eddy and some shouldn't play their off side in Niku, Clague, Sheuneman, Fairbrother and Leskinen. None of our LD should be playing top pair RD long term and Mailloux is more of a 2nd pairing guy. Getting a guy like Dumba moves everyone back to their proper positions and we can still move Petry as planned.</div></div>
I understand that, but it seems likely that Romanov will move to the RD because Guhle, Harris, Struble, Norlinder, etc. will look for spots on that side. On the RD, that leaves us with Romanov, Barron, Mailloux. Not to mention that we have vets that could need spots.

He can't block trades, he only has a 10 team no trade list and would have had to submit it already (I believe once the contract was signed or maybe once a year on June 15th. I can't remember what the criteria is lol). The question is who does he have on his 10 team NT list, I don't think Montreal or any Canadian team would be (unless he specifically doesn't like the team) because he is Canadian.</div></div>
The Habs have a logjam on the backend and would probably rather let their prospects prove themselves.

Dvorak is actually not as bad as you think. He just looked really bad under Ducharme (as did everybody lol). His defensive game is very strong and his faceoffs are elite. I would probably keep him if we didn't have 4 young centermen and we were going through a rebuild.
