<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shanesaw9</b></div><div>I have higher expectations for all of these trades from MTL's perspective except for Hoffman... maybe Anderson too I'm not sure how to judge that one.

Feels like this would be selling low. For example, Dvorak was just acquired for a 1st and a 2nd, why would trade him for a 2nd one year later?

Why would MTL trade Petry (while taking on Khudobin) just to move up from 62 to 18... and then trade Allen for Barrie presumably to replace Petry? Just keep Petry until a better offer comes along and trade Allen (assuming Price is even back).

With $6M in cap space, why trade Drouin (while retaining 50%) for a 3rd round pick? Better to keep him and hope he has a good year to be flipped for more at the deadline.</div></div>

I think these are very close to what Habs fans should expect from trades. Many of these trades clear up space for younger players to get their chance. The Dvorak trade was obviously a mistake, and the Habs would probably prefer to move on from him, even if they can't get a first back. Drouin needs a change of scenery for his own sake. He's been getting flamed by Montreal media and needs to get a second chance somewhere else. Moving up to 18 from 62 is huge, and definitely worth it. Rumours have already reported that the Habs will move Petry and acquire a top 4 dman to take that spot. Allen helps Edmonton with their goalie problem, and comes at a good price. If the Habs are willing to be bad, why not let Allen win somewhere else, and lose with Khudobin.
