I'm a Habs fan and I would say no just because I would feel bad for Vancouver fans if this went through. Horvat trade probably starts with one of our top prospects.

Making it to the finals doesn't guarantee you to be a contender, let alone make playoffs. Look at Dallas for example. I understand the injuries but they didn't even make the playoffs. Especially since we're playing in an extremely talented division, no guarantees we even make the postseason. Unless we find a 3C, the loss of Danault will hit us HARD.

Copp is a little upgrade on Lehkonen
We need defensive forward, so Lehky is crucial now for the PK</div></div>
I half agree with you. Lehky is a massive part of the defensive system built by the team but he doesn't really have a spot right now. I also think that it is crucial that the Habs bring in a more experienced 3C. Andrew Copp just had his best season and has steadily been improving. I believe that he is a pretty significant upgrade on a defensive-minded winger who struggles to contribute offensively. Copp can play PP and PK and brings added scoring to the lineup. This is nothing against Lehky, I think he is one of the hardest workers on the team and seems to be a favourite among the players, but with so many good wingers, it seems like he is the odd man out. As well, we have wingers who are very good defensively. The only player that Lehky really could replace is Byron but Byron is just as effective defensively and brings more to our offense. As well, he's our assistant captain so the leadership aspect comes into play. I think the money used on Lehky could be better served at this time on a 3C who can play up and down the lineup.

Offseason
First of all, why would we ever give up Chiarot in the Expansion Draft? He's definitely in our protected list and the D to be left exposed imo is Weber. As much as he's a crucial piece to our blue line, if Seattle wants to take his contract off our books, it opens up a lot in terms of improving the team. Sort of a one step back, two steps forward kind of thing. As for the trade, I wish Nashville would accept that lol. They aren't gonna let us fleece them again. Drouin has almost become a cap dump because no one is sure when he'll be back and if he'll be the same player ever again. I would expect the Habs to move a pick so that Seattle takes him. It would be a great change of scenery for him and I think he could really succeed. I think a cheaper option to Ekholm could be Goligoski because he's already a free agent and will cost a similar amount. He had a fantastic season as well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sam_Qc</b></div><div>Montreal is not doing that Eichel trade.</div></div>
Yeah I know. I don't particularly want Eichel because it puts us in a tough spot financially but I wanted to see what people think about the package. I must admit it's a big package for him but I'm afraid that's the price. It starts w/ Suzuki and then adds quality prospects.

Why would we not protect Chiarot? We won't protect Weber because if Seattle is willing to take his contract off our books, they can gladly do so. Instead, I see us protecting Chiarot as well and most likely losing Allen to Seattle.

In theory, you are right except if you look at it realistically, Tatar makes more in the open market than Danault. Tatar has been a consistent point producer for most of his career and gets more recognition. As well, Danault should be more inclined to resign as he's pretty much in the perfect situation for himself. Tatar signs higher AAV for less term and Danault signs less AAV for longer term.

Josh Anderson
Why would the Habs do this ever? We don't want another overpaid dman on a big deal. We have so many promising young dmen coming up. Josh Anderson is one of our best forwards and is on a good deal. He brings speed size and skill to our lineup. This is awful for us.

I would like to see him too but the only place he maybe fits is in the place of Armia or Caufield. I think he gets a shot though just based on his experience.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SevenLeg</b></div><div>If Suter makes it, I can't see Weber not making it.</div></div>
Difference is Suter is considered one of the best American dmen of all time. I don't think his value comes from his career necessarily because he has had a similar career to Weber's. It's his importance to his country. However, even then, he is a better dman all time than Weber. With injuries and consistency, Suter is far and away a better dman over his career.

this summer
If Bergevin signs DeAngelo, it might legitimately be his worst move as the GM of the Habs. DeAngelo is the worst thing any team could ever have. Quite frankly, he doesn't deserve another shot at the big leagues. He will ruin the team completely. Hell, he could be a 100 point scorer for all I care.

HABS 2021-2022
Under absolutely no circumstance should the Habs even consider signing a free agent DeAngelo, let alone TRADE a prospect for him. He is the definition of a locker room cancer and quite frankly shouldn't get another shot at the NHL. This is quite possibly the worst move the Habs could make as an organization.
