agreed...kreider is just a rental and a ufa this summer. nyr don't have the leverage to get this kind of package.

Thursday vs Minnesota
3rd line should be out fourth line with gourde on it. Therefore, Tampa needs 2 (at LEAST 1) top 9 forwards at the deadline. I think Volkov slides into the top nine better than verhaeghe/stephens if they only get one top 9 guy. Kreider/Toffoli/Granlund/Saad all make sense. Last real year without major cap casualties, they need to win this year.

Brayden Point OS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moli92</b></div><div>Yes of course four 1sts would be better for Tampa. But it's not up to them - COL would try to put as much pressure on TBL as possible by trying to get him for two 1sts + 2nd +3rd while still paying Brayden enough so that TBL would have trouble matching the offersheet</div></div>
However Point ultimately has the final say. Doesn’t seem like the type of player to play for the money.

It has been said multiple times that he will take Hedman money to come to Tampa. Around 8 mill or so

Tampa says absolutely as long as the don't retain that much salary. NYR has the space so Tampa would rather throw in another pick.

Fair point. I think that if CBJ has a slightly better off than this one from another team Tampa should definitely throw in another pick or prospect to sweeten the deal. Panarin in this offense would be insane.</div></div>

TDL Moves year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rangsey</b></div><div>Well i don't hate it. Cant see the Rangers being ok with that trade. Killorn and Gourde on the move makes sense over Miller. But have you looked at the following year with this base? Be curious to see what you do in year 3. Feel like that Artemi contract could be costly.</div></div>
Following year could be the year to trade Johnson. Namestnikov would come off the books as well. Thats 7 mill right there. Give 4 more to Vasy (7.5 aav) and 2.6 to Sergachev (3.5 aav). van Reimsdyk would also then come off which opens up even more. Definitely possible, would just be tough.

In Carolina would have much bigger role...would fit into top 6 for sure where as he is top 9 in Tampa.

TVR is needed for 2019/2020 season with Stralman Colburn and Giardi gone .. if I Carolina .. I ask for Gourde or Miller instead of draft picks .. Tampa would prefer this also cap wise</div></div>
Giving up 2 top 6 forwards in their prime both 50-60+ point scorers on good contracts? Tampa says absolutely not. TVR is not a good enough return at all. Callahan is only on for one more year after this one. Tampa only needs to rid of Gourde/Callahan/Girardi/Coburn and they will have plenty of cap this off season.

As a TB fan, love the deal and also think it is fair on both sides. Stephens is a very good prospect but is worth giving up to dump Callahans contract. Canes have the space and are getting a fair return.

win this year
Callahan has to submit a 15 team no trade list so there are 16 teams he could be moved to, not like he is completely immovable. Also I agree, but I would rather lose Gourde than Miller. Miller is younger, lot more skill and they have relatively the same contract starting next year. Big key is to move cally for sure tho.

Making Point fit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>rangers would want a more time sensitive pick.. make it a 2019. 2 more years is too far for a third rounder as third rounders don't usually make the nhl until post 22/23 if at all (essentially another 4 years)</div></div>
Fair, except Killorn will produce more than Fast, more useful for NYR than just taking on cap. But a 2019 3rd won't hurt TB.
