Yeah for both. Not sure exactly what the other piece would be...just not one of our top prospects...

We had to trade Datsyuk's contract to free up cap space because he just retired. Zetterberg's retirement was caused by his bad back putting him on LTIR and Detroit gets his entire cap hit back if needed.</div></div>
I'm not trading Z's contract to get it off the books. I know it can go on LTIR. Instead of it just being on the books and doing nothing we could use it to help a team reach the cap floor. I know Chabot is probably untouchable but this deal saves Melnyk 20 million dollars. We all know he's cheap. I think a deal centered around Z and Bobby Ryan + sweeteners could work. I get that Chabot won't be the sweetener but we culd probably get a good prospect and/or a high(ish) draft pick.

I prefer Turcotte as well. I assume he will be gone by 6. As will byram (who I would also prefer over zegras). For this roster is assume Hughes, kakko, Turcotte, byram, and someone other than zegras are taken in the first 5.

Bobfather mentioned Breadman
I don't think it's likely since Panarin has been quoted wanting that "big city" spotlight, but 7x11 would definitely get us a seat at the table. I think both the Howard and Goose signings are reasonable too (although I think I'd like 3 years for Goose, ideally). Very nice. Add in Veleno and maybe a Kakko/Cozens/Dach and this forward group starts to look really good. We just have to roll the dice on a couple Dmen.

deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Drw4209</b></div><div>Playoff teams don't trade useful players at the deadline, especially when they're trying to acquire more useful players and accumulate depth. Wings don't even want Donskoi anyway</div></div>
Donskoi was included to balance the cap hits. Let him walk in UFA. He's a decent player but Nyquist is a definite upgrade. The main pieces of the deal would be Gregor and Florida's 2019 2nd. Gregor is a decent but not blue chip prospect and the FLA 2nd is probably gonna be a top 35-38 pick. I'd consider that a reasonable return for a 0.8ppg winger in a saturated forward trade market.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>I like the San Jose deal but resigning donskoi will cost close to signing nyquist. He's a good player really and San Jose probably wouldn't take that deal. Jensen is a third maybe and you can't squeeze a second out of him.</div></div>
I wouldn't necessarily want to re-sign Donskoi. He was included to balance the books for SJS. He's a useful depth piece but based on numbers he shouldn't cost nearly what Nyquist will fetch.

2018/2019 NHL season 2nd season at LCA
I think your lines are right on. Nice work. The rebuild continues...
I think our first call-ups in case of injury are Hicketts for defense and Svech for forwards but I think this is how we start the year.
Also, part of me hopes they put Zadina on Larkin's wing...We'll see.

TRADE DEADLINE 3DAYS AWAY
I think you have fair value based on rumors. My only objection is that I (personally) wouldn't trade AA. This is just my personal feeling and I acknowledge that he's not untouchable like Larkin and Mantha but I think his ceiling is just too high. Also, we have a better defensive prospect pool (not you can ever have too many good, young defensemen). I just feel like we would have no one to replace AA in the system.

IDEAS
I don't think we'd be able squeeze a 1st + for green out of LA. If we're talking Tampa or Washington, then maybe b/c their 1st rounders are probably going to be in the 28-31 range. With LA it could be more in the 16-20 range. That's a big difference if you ask me.
Also, I don't think I'd trade AA unless he's explicitly said he wants out and you have to get <em>somthing</em> for him. Not even for Faulk.

That’s a terrible trade for DET. Tatar is a legit top 6 winger. Solid prospects and good picks would be needed in a package for Tatar.

Once Holland decides we're out of it
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boomkk47</b></div><div>I personally wouldn't trade Howden. He is the Bolts #1 fwd prospect so I doubt he and Foote (#1defense) would be included in a deal for a rental and we can't sign Green longterm. It's hard to get a read on Yzerman though.
Volkov is doing well in the AHL and at adjusting to North America but still a wildcard as of potential. If I was Detriot I'd ask for Katchouk (LW) or Raddysh (RW). They probably wont be NHL ready till the start of 2019 but have top 6 potential and tearing up the CHL. You probably wont get your 1st round pick in return though.</div></div>
I definitely like both those wingers. They seem like B+/A- type prospects. Maybe one of them plus a 2nd rounder? (No condition on the pick if they’re higher end prospects)

I'm not sure why you want those prospects. Volkov was just drafted so theres almost no chance he's traded unless they consider them crap. Try 2 lower end prospects imo.
I'd do something like Green for Conditional 1st + Mitchell Stephens + Otto Somppi .... if you were wanting to target possible Centers.</div></div>
I think I’d be happy with Stephens + conditional 1st. Thanks for the input!

Howden-Cirelli-Stephens and then in any order: Peca, Colton, Somppi, Lipanov, Verhaeghe.</div></div>
Interesting! Thank you! Would you consider Howden in any Green deal? I've always had the impression that him and Point are pretty untouchable (at least for rentals like Green would be)
Also, I would still take Volkov because in reality the Wings just need forwards in general.

Thanks for the feedback boom. My thought process was a solid center prospect + good pick would be fair return for Green as a rental. I just chose Volkov because (from what I've heard from Tampa fans) he's not quite as highly thought of as Howden. I would take Howden in place of Volkov...just was shooting for a good center

Yes, I'm sure that an almost 6-year-old trade is the driving force behind Ken Holland's decision making. Are you seriously using that to evaluate trade value? Volkov is a very solid center prospect (which Tampa is loaded with and Detroit desperately needs). Combine that with a 2nd rounder that has a good chance to become a 1st and I think you have fair market value. Maybe you could squeeze another mid-round pick out of Tampa but I think you should be content with this type of return.
Personally I'd rather have a 20 yr old center who is already putting up good numbers in the AHL over the last pick in the first round any day of the week.
