Agreed. Detroit is an ideal spot, especially losing Comrie on waivers. But if you think Mantha is available in that trade you’re huffing good stuff.

btw that top line is nasty</div></div>
I think he will get time, just won’t begin up there. So many NHL logjams ahead of him:
Dekeyser, Hronek, Green, Neimeth, Bowey, Ericsson, and Daley. For him to start there I would think they’d have to move two of Bowey, Ericsson, and Daley. That doesn’t include players like Hicketts that aren’t waiver exempt and other players that are like him that can be sent down without going through waivers like Kaski. BUT, Yzerman has said ‘If a player wins his way on the roster, he’d make the necessary moves and he won’t be blocked’. We shall see.

Sorry about that, thought it did. I had a top 6 of:
Svechnikov/Veleno/Zadina
Rad/Pearson/ Pope
And a top 4 of:
Kaski/ Cholowski
Lashoff/ Seider
(lashoff to give the kid a veteran presence)

I would move him and Ericsson if they even had value. Until they do, just interchange them with the 3rd pair guys. As for dekeyser, he had a better year last year but I feel you’d have to retain salary to get anything of value. Doubt Yzerman would do that.

$7M over 8 years for TYLER BERTUZZI?!? Even Ken Holland would laugh at that.... He’s likely going to sign between $3M-$4M.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I like the Toronto trade I don't think but I don't think Toronto would. I'd even be willing to retain half of Daley's cap hit. Just to open that roster spot. I don't know what Vanek wants to do but I'm pretty sure if he wants to go another year in Detroit the Wings would resign him. I think they wanted him to mentor Zadina last season but Zadina didn't progress as fast as they expected. I'm not sure on Sutter but I know Detroit really likes how he has been with the younger players. If this is what do in the off season I'd be happy.</div></div>
No way Vanek is back. Before the draft he was asked about what UfAs he talked to and he mentioned Kronner and Witter. The reporter then asked Yzerman about Vanek and he smirked and said “no, haven’t talked”.

Probably not. I just tried to examine Vegas’ roster and it looks like Eakin would most likely to be moved as $3M+ with one year left on his deal and Svechnikov being a cheap young player that could be a sneaker. There would likely be other things added in the deal.

few buyouts in Detroit
I don’t believe Ericsson or Daley should be bought out. I feel Daley could fetch a late conditional pick (6th if the acquiring team makes 2nd Ed of playoffs). The Wings aren’t strapped for cap this offseason so you can simply bury Ericsson to open a slot in Detroit. Not to mention both have one year left. Why buy them out and extend them being on the cap for another year?
Helm is more plausible I believe. You could buy him out and open a spot but cost 1.85, 1.85, 1, and 1 against the cap the next FOUR seasons. Or you can retain 50% of his salary and ship him off for minimal return and only owe 1.9 the next two seasons where they have about 13M in cap this offseason and fought 45M in cap next offseason. I don’t see why they should buy them out and kick the can down the road.

Even as a red wings fan I know that’s not enough. A really good young defenseman for a further along prospect, a prospect that has been sputtering this year, and two second.

Red Wings Big Pull Next Year
Big contracts for FA and Ken Holland scare me. Although I like all the players brought in. Reminds me of the 90s Wings. If they moved Abs this would be feasible, ATLEAST money wise. As Zadina would be up for a big deal, Helms expires. As Mantha and AA are up for a big deal, Green and Ericsson are expiring. A lot of juggling and wishful thinking though. But I like it, just don’t believe you’ll get full cap relief for Z and Franzen.
