<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Coachchippy</b></div><div>I know we're not talking about the same Mitchell Marner who is a perennial 100pt guy (and only getting better), is Selke-caliber defensively responsible, and just scored a hat trick tonight. And if 14 points in 11 playoff games last year constitutes "disappearing" I'd love to know your thoughts on Artemi Panarin and Mika Zibanejad.

Igor is usually great but has looked really off this year. Quick has been better than him. And even last year, outside of the playoffs, he wasn't his Vezina-caliber self. I'm not comfortable paying him more than 9m when it's time for his next contract. Besides I don't care if he's our franchise goaltender. Past history shows us that having a guy save your underperforming a**** doesn't win Cups. Look at what this team did to Hank Lundqvist (who deserved much better). You don't need elite goaltending to win Cups. You just need above average to great goaltending. With Benoit Allaire as our goalie coach I'm not worried about a Shesterkin-less team</div></div>

Did you pay any attention to the Tampa Bay Lightning the last few years? There's more than one way to win a cup bud. If there was one way and you didn't need elite goaltending then everyone would be trying to move their elite goaltenders for elite offense or defense. You're talking about trading a top 3 maybe top 5 goaltender in the league and your backup plan is 37 soon to be 38 year old Jonathan Quick who rode the pine last year. Yes he's had a hot start but to trade your franchise goaltender especially with the cap going up in the near future is completely asinine and insanity.
