So you wouldn't trade JVR and Gautier for Vatanen (best player in the deal) and Ritchie (a slow progressing elite young player)? Richie is a risk but man would that be a nice reward if he works out. Gauthier has no future.</i></div></div>

I don't see how Ritchie has brighter future, honestly. He's not producing playing with Perry and Getzlaf, and you think he's gonna do better here? He's a big, fourth line guy in my opinion, and I know that's what Gauthier is possibly gonna become, too. But Gauthier is 6'5 and 225 pounds, and is still playing very well defensively. Yeah, he may never be a thirty goal scorer, but a consistent 4th line shut down guy who scares the crap out of the other teams, I value that more than Ritchie.
Besides, the value is WAY too high, as Wotisthebest said, a guy putting up nearly a PPG on a low level team is worth far more than Vatanen, no matter how good his numbers, are, and throwing in just Ritchie but sending Gautheir (wash) is not going to change the value. Gauthier is gonna stay with the Leafs for a little while longer, and the Leafs are gonna pursue a bigger, more aggressive stay at home Dman before they look for another puck moving Dman.</i></div></div>

Just an FYI Richie is in the NHL on a significantly better team.

Ritchie is shorter and weights more (but is not out of shape).

Richie is the much better piece. AINEC.

How do you figure JVR is a better player than Vatanen? Vatanen plays a lot of minutes on a much better team. JVR plays on a worse team and gets more TOI and opportunities because of it. How many times have teams been bitten by the concept of a player producing on a bad team so they can produce here mentality.

JVR is a 25-25 guy. That's it. And that is very good. Just not enough to say he is better than Vatanen given the age gap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BStone67</b></div><div><i>No. No no no. No. The Leafs and Habs may make a trade sometime, but it WON'T be for this. I will say it for the thousandth time, the Leafs don't need a LHD, especially a fairly small one who isn't aggressive. We need a stay at home RHD. I'm also gonna say for the thousandth time that the Leafs aren't trading Bozak and JVR before it's absolutely necessary, and if they're going to, they will NOT package them together and definitely not so we can overpay Beaulieu and take on Pacioretty who probably won't even want to come here. The Leafs made the Phaneuf trade targeting Lindberg and they are sure as heck not going to just turn him over again for a 28 year old forward for two years, who has two less points than JVR and one more than Bozak. Right now, JVR is more valuable than Patches because of his PPG (which he has gotten on a low placed team) and his 250,000 dollar cheaper contract, and Bozak is a solid center who wins a large majority of faceoffs and has great chemistry with Marner.
Long story short, JVR and Patches are closer to equal value than anything, which means you're moving Bozak for Beaulieu (So you can pay him a little too much) and Lindberg for Andrighetto, who's currently in the AHL and not even on the roster you have here? No. Not happening.
Also, don't know how much Leafs hockey you watch, but Komarov prefers the wing and has great chemistry with Kadri, and Rielly plays on the left side and not with Gardiner. They don't work well together unless it's on the PP. Oh and Corrado is not staying with the team and Bibeau will get the call up before Sparks does this year. Just no.
You can play the card where Pacioretty isn't being utilized properly, and I'd agree, but they won't make a trade just to move him down to Toronto and they want a top 4 dman, not two forwards and a prospect.
Also Ganly (an ECHLer) and Murphy (a small, puck moving dman with bad defensive abilities) for Rychel and Gauthier? No. There's not equal value there. Neither Rychel nor Gauthier are ECHLers and Gauthier, although not a strong point producer, is a big, 6'5 forward who's great defensively and will probably find himself on a fourth line role with any team if it's not with the Leafs, and that's just now. And Rychel? Yeah, maybe not doing as well as he should be, but 10 points in 19 games so far and aggressive is perfect for a bottom six role. Murphy can't stay in the lineup and Ganly isn't even in the AHL. No where near equal value.</i></div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wotisthebest</b></div><div><i><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BStone67</b></div><div><i>Just nos all around. JVR for Vatanen? I'm not sure about that at all, since I haven't seen much from the Ducks this year.<strong> I know statistically Vatanen had some good numbers, but he's another puck moving defenseman who's under 6 feet and that's not what the leafs need, not even if he's a RHD</strong>. Gauthier for Ritchie just practically a wash and I doubt a change of scenery would better that at all. No to the Anahiem. I'd want Montour before I went with Ritchie.
As Krakowitz said, Hawks don't need that defensive depth but then again I'm not sure. I still think it's a pass.
Duclair going for that cheap? Along with Deangelo? That's a never. Babs LOVES Soshnikov and that's very well known, he loves the aggressive still of Komarov even if he isn't putting up that many points this season, and some scouts do think well of Loov but he hasn't cracked the lineup for a long term position yet and I'm not sure he ever will. Plus, as I said above, we do not NEED a small, puck moving dman. It's just not happening.
Polak for a second? A player who was blown away last season by the speed of the Penguins and suffering from it now PLAYING for the Penguins? No. Not happening. Nope.
All these trades won't happen. The Yotes won't move Duclair for that and the Leafs won't move Sosh or Kommie for that price either. Maybe Komarov for a pick or something in the future, but not that soon.</i></div></div>
