Champions again

Where are you getting those numbers from?
They probably get bridge deals before they get paid anywhere near that much, and even after that I don't see how either makes anything over 6.

Fixing the Cap Issues
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TooMalevolent</b></div><div>Lol what? The market is already set, it's going to cost at least a 1st round pick to sweeten that deal. Why would Ottawa do this trade?</div></div>
I don't see why they wouldn't, they have the cap space and are essentially getting a 3rd and 5th round pick, solid top 9 forward (overpaid, yes) who would fit in well in Ottawa, and a decent prospect for nothing. The one thing Vancouver would probably have to do differently is send over a player other than Goldobin, maybe Gaudette instead.

Agreed it'll definitely be a dog fight, but the Avs have a great chance to come out on top now.

(TOR/COL) - Kadri, Rosén 2020 3rd for Kerfoot, Barrie 2020 6th
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapFriendly</b></div><div>Trade confirmed: <a href="/teams/avalanche">Colorado Avalanche</a> - <a href="/teams/mapleleafs">Toronto Maple Leafs</a></div></div>
As a Colorado fan, I initially thought this trade was terrible, but after thinking a lot about it it does make sense. The Avs now have a surplus of defensemen, and were unlikely to sign Barrie after his contract expires this upcoming season. So at least they get something for him, and that something is what they need most: a second line center.
Kadri has a lot of problems, I think it's extremely easy for him to be thrown off his game, but when he's on his game he's a great player all over the ice. The question will be can Colorado eliminate the inconsistencies and mental problems in Kadri's game.
Toronto gets a great defensemen which they needed after Gardiner's probable departure. Kerfoot's a great top 9 guy with top 6 potential. Retaining 50% of Barries salary is a huge help for Toronto and doesn't really affect the Avs as they have tons of cap space. Maybe a slight edge for the Leafs on the trade right now, but I think eventually it'll be viewed as an even deal.

River Boat Gambler
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>I'm guessing 8.5-9 for Rantanen if it's a long term deal.......which would still be pretty team friendly.</div></div>
More than 8 is definitely a little more realistic, but at the same time Joe's never been one to hand out big deals. Rantanen is definitely a player who you could justify making upwards of 8 but he's expressed interest in staying in Colorado and I think he'll take a deal similar to Pastrnak's.
