San Jose Sharks signed Dylan Gambrell (2 Years / $700,000 AAV)
One prospect-rating service I pay attention to says Gambrell is their best prospect. For a team with cap problems, $700 is an absolute Godsend. Labanc for $1M and Gambrell for $700? Is it the water?

McDavid prime years to a Cup Contender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilsince95</b></div><div>Fun to fantasize about as an Avs fan I'm sure but you know that any notion of a trade for McDavid has to start with either Rantanen or MacKinnon involved. Otherwise its just irrelevant to think about.</div></div>
You arent going to get full value for McDavid back, especially not MacKinnon. His contract and his ability outweighs the value of McDavid on his contract. Sorry but thats just the reality of how contracts impact trade values. McDavid is stlll the best player in the world, but do you want him at 12.5m or MacK who is easily top 5 in the world and half the cost....I think you take mackinnon
Oilers are in a bad bad spot, on paper arguably the are worse than they were last year but still are going to try to convince McDavid to ride out a season or 2 until they can undo all the damage that has been done to that roster?

Haberlanche
I expected to see the usual drouin trade, but was horrified by Colorado giving up a top prospect, an rfa wrecking ball on skates, and a decent bottom 6 player, then a 1st and 2nd pick... all for a 3c, a bottom 6 winger, and an old RHD thatbthey dont need.
Just despicable

One Way to Dump Lucic
I mean if you are looking for easier ways to dump lucic, then just invite him to go camping in the mountains of BC, get him drunk, hit him in the head with a shovel and bury him. Problem solved.
But, this method works too.

Colorado Avalanche signed Nikita Zadorov (1 Year / $3,200,000 AAV)
great deal for both. Zadorov gets his 1-Year deal so he can get a big payday next year. Colorado gets him at a rather low price.

(TOR/COL) - Kadri, Rosén 2020 3rd for Kerfoot, Barrie 2020 6th
I'm not sure why everyone is saying this is a steal for Toronto. The only area Toronto did better is Kerfoot over Rosen. I would much rather have a two-way second line center in Kadri than a defensively-poor offensive d-man in Barrie, and I hate Kadri. Plus Kadri has 3 more years BELOW $5m which is great value for what he brings, and Barrie only has one year remaining. Perhaps if Barrie signs an extension, it could swing more in Toronto's favor, but I'm calling this a win for Colorado.
Kadri (2C, 3 more years at $4.5m) > Barrie (offensive d-man, 1 year left)
Rosen (yound d-man w/ possible upside) < Kerfoot (40 point 2nd line winger)
2020 3rd > 2020 6th

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilersfan089</b></div><div>I don't get this one at all. Is Colorado complicit in some under the table deal with Toronto? How do they give them so much for so little and retain salary to help out a cap stressed leafs team? Colorado getting big money from Toronto?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>I don't know Colorado gets a 30 goal scorer for 3 more years and Toronto gets 1 season of Barrie at half price right before he becomes a UFA. Toronto has only 1 defenseman signed for the 2020-21 season and they still need to sign Cici, Marner and Kerfoot.</div></div>
Two completely different takes on the same trade. So interesting. If fans from both teams are somewhat satisfied, it's a good trade. I think Leafs were able to get Avs to retain 50% as it was only for 1 year, and they were getting Naz for 3 at a great price. He is a 6M player easily.
Resigning Ceci, Marner and Kerfoot is going to be possible with over 17 mil in cap space. Not to mention another 1.5 mill saved when 2 league min guys aren't part of the 23 man final roster.
Lastly, Dubas isn't done with his off-season moves so it's entirely possible we have something interesting on the cards again!

Jets went from cup contender to bubble team, the central got nasty, even Chicago with lehner add could be trouble, I think only Minnesota is there to hold wpg out of the cellar, Nashville could have a hell of a year also. And then there is the reigning Stanley cup champs

If Jost takes a step forward this year they’ll be a really tough team to beat.
Much more with Byram and Newhook in another season.

(TOR/COL) - Kadri, Rosén 2020 3rd for Kerfoot, Barrie 2020 6th
I’ve been an absolute junkie for this site for years. Read a lot of things that got on my nerves. Like ridiculous armchair GM rosters with awful trades and terrible signings, where someone way under or over paid someone etc... But I was always too lazy to create an account or bother saying anything. Well I just created the account. For this lol. I’m really shocked to see everyone bashing Colorado and Sakic here. I keep reading about this retained salary over and over and over, yet no one has bothered to point out that Barrie is in the last year of his contract or the fact that the Avs swapped a 6th for a 3rd. I’m Canadian. I know how big hockey is here, but let’s all relax and look at this objectively for a second. Barrie has exceptional puck moving skills, but isn’t that great defensively at all. No offence to Barrie, I love the guy. For the most part, under normal circumstances, trading Barrie for a solid second line C, is a fair deal. However Kadri is signed for a few more years at a very reasonable salary, while Barrie is in the final year of his contract and will ask much more next year. At this point in the trade, I’d say Avs are ahead. So they decide to add another player each in the deal with Kerfoot being a little better to even things out. Then the leafs pay for the salary retention by drastically upgrading Colorado’s draft pick. I’m an Avs fan and I voted fair deal. You people need to stop leaving out key aspects to this trade and putting down an excellent GM in Joe Sakic. Furthermore from an Avs perspective, all they were missing was a talented second line C to contend for a cup. That was the biggest priority this offseason. They didn’t need Barrie, nor could they protect him in the upcoming expansion draft. Too many D to protect and not enough forwards. Avs traded what they had too much of, for what the needed most. This was a fair and perfectly logical trade by the Avs. What will leafs fans be saying if Barrie leaves at the end of the year, or if someone else of equal importance has to leave at the end of the year to make room for the Barrie’s salary increase? But no let’s all leave that stuff out and laugh at the Avs. Ridiculous.

Marner's. Look at it from his perspective: Tavares got paid, Nylander got paid, Matthews got paid, but now that it's his turn he's supposed to take a haircut "for the team"?

I'm guessing 8.5-9 for Rantanen if it's a long term deal.......which would still be pretty team friendly.
