Gostisbehere for Athanasiou

Detroit desperately needs a defenseman, but we desperately need a center and a goalie and a right handed winger as well so that's not saying much lol, but as a redwings fan I'd be happy with this trade

Why is it always those who know the least who act like they know the most?

My bad, I thought you were trying to justify the trade. I agree, Detroit declines because it make absolutely no sense

Detroit - Franzen mid pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>Unrealted to the trade being proposed, 2 of Detroits top prospects are Czechs and unlike any of detroits veterans so is Frolik. Just because you are a veteran player that doesnt necessarily make you a mentor, Zadina and Hronek might not have the best english and having a vet there that can teach them and help them adjust makes a lot of sense.</div></div>
Detroit isn't giving up a 3rd round pick and wasting a roster spot for a translator.

Det has a handful of promising defense prospects in: Cholowski, Hronek, McIsaac, Lindstrom, Bowey, Kaski and Saarijarvi. However a blue chip first pairing d-man is still arguably the biggest missing piece in their rebuild.

That "something" will be dumping callahans contract, not trading gourde for a bunch of scrubs and a late 2nd

The plan is broken because Marleau will not waive his full nmc to go to Detroit.</div></div>
Trade him to the Wings with the stipulation that the Wings agree to buy him out of his contract and that the Leafs agree re-sign him on a more team friendly deal. Or they could trade him to the Wings with the stipulation that the Wings agree to trade him back with salary retained. Or he could just waive that NMC

If Ericsson was going to be bought it would've happened couple ago and he's not going to be traded either Holland is just going to let him play out his contract and retire. It's another reason why The Wings need a new GM. Holland is just too personally invested with the players. It's not a bad thing as long as it doesn't prevent you from doing what's best for the team.</div></div>
ummmm you may want to check up on some red wings news

make it happen Kyle Dubas
1) why would Toronto give up their star goalie for a 33 y/o whos been very injury prone?
2) No way Ottawa is looking to trade for a more expensive older winger
3) Why would Florida give up a pick to take on Marleau's cap?

todays throw at the wall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMarch</b></div><div>I like the trades as well, but the TBL/DET trade is where you may see the Dman relief (and most likely be Daley). Tampa needs dmen (they'll need 3-4 this offseason), and only have $10mm in cap space total (they need to sign 6-7 players overall, including Point). You could slide Daley into that mix, maybe do some retention (taking back Callahan and retaining a $1-1.5mm on Daley), which would give them $6-7mm of cap relief. Maybe have TBL throw in another pick (or upgrade to a 1st). They then go to $17mm in space, with only 5-6 bodies to sign.
Also, I don't expect DET will buyout Ericcson. The cap crunch will be coming to them somewhat after next season, and a buyout will extend E's hit 2 seasons, when they'll need space for AA, Bert, and Mantha. If they are going to do anything with E, they'll bury him.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jfstompers</b></div><div>yeah I tend to agree they probably float ericssson on the roster for his last season. Kronwall is kind of a mystery to me. honestly he played well enough that at cheap money getting him for deoth doesn't seem terrible. I like chariots game a lot. hes improved and isn't a bad guy back there. he probably slips threw the cracks for Winnipeg I hope and we benefit. at this point I dont have any faith in us developing dmen so id rather throw numbers at the issue.</div></div>
Not sure Anaheim looks to move Perry at the expense of a pick, I think they're at the point where they'll have to wait out their bad contracts and look to rebuild a core through the draft. The Callahan trade on the other hand is much more realistic. I really like the idea of taking on a couple of contracts from Toronto or Tampa to give them some desperately needed immediate cap relief.

Franzen's contract doesn't count against the cap as he is on LTIR. Why would OTT take Franzen's contract and move down a round in the draft?? also no way Winnepeg parts with Trouba for that return.
