Evidence would show that to get rid of Bailey it'll likely need to be a 2nd rounder.

Late Roster Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>Canucks aren't paying to move Ferland</div></div>
Per Frank Seravalli literally <strong>TODAY</strong>: "It’s not exactly one that’s eating up cap space, but when you consider the ramifications that come with having your team operate in LTIR, the Vancouver Canucks have in recent days and weeks been attempting to move the contract of Micheal Ferland. Now, he’s in the final year of his deal, we know that he’s not coming back to play, his cap hit is $3.5 million, and his real cash owed to him this season is $2.75 million, so they’ve been in touch with some other teams that either have had injuries in training camp up to this point, or are already operating in LTIR and might be able to use a little bit of a boost.
The thing with Ferland’s contract though that I think has gotten in the way of some of this is that because Ferland is out with injury, it’s not insured, so whoever’s picking up that deal would be paying the full $2.75 million in real cash. The Canucks are obviously trying to get rid of it because they don’t want to pay that and they don’t want to operate in LTIR, so they’re probably going to have to pay a little bit to move it, but we’ll see how that unfolds."

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SociallyHawkward</b></div><div>Lol not real at all. Hawks don't consider that. They want futures. They traded away debrincat and dach. They're not trading for necas. Picks, prospects, and probably a cap dump. Not a young player that will help the team win games this season.</div></div>
The cap dump of Kase or Martinook, Scott Morrow, 2023 1st (or Noel Gunler), and 2024 2nd is probably what it takes to get Kane at 50% retention.

I'm sure you enjoy your fancy graphs and all that, but I'd bet that every playoff team this year would love to have 3x cup champ Patrick Kane on their roster. Sure, this trade might be a little lofty but if you think a late 1st and Nils Lundqvist gets you 88, you're just dense.

100% - there is a trade to be had here, but if they're taking back bad contracts PLUS including Strome, Chicago is going to demand a 1st plus some combo of a 3rd/4th and/or one of Knies/Hirvonen/Robertson

EDM doesn't have cap space this upcoming season. Look at it from the perspective that you're giving up Savoie for an impact free agent signing, maybe Kubalik's RFA rights.

totally fair - depends on whether a GM wants to gamble on future potential or go and acquire someone with proven results. Besides a flukey 2018/19 season, DeBrincat scores at a near .5 gpg clip.

okay cool but kapanen is 25 and an rfa who I'm sure wants to get $4m+ on his next deal and the hawks are not doing that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EccE</b></div><div>Why does Hagel get a return like that? Isn't he like your average middle-six scorer? No way the Wild do that. I wouldn't pay a 1st for him</div></div>
No one is asking you the Armchair GM what you'd do. I made this based off of deals already this year and deals from previous years. He's young and cap controlled at 1.5m for two more seasons after this. He works his ball$ off every shift and plays solid defense. Also, has 17 goals on the year. Toffoli, who does have a larger sample size, fetched a 2022 1st, the 7th ranked prospect (athletic), a 2024 5th, and a 4th line guy. Not saying they're similar players but both are valuable, goal scoring wings. Given that Hagel is younger, cheaper, and arguably less of a defensive liability, you can make the argument for the hefty return.
