does fla even have gas in the tank (aka assets & prospects) to keep their competitive window open more than a season or two?

If you're implying that Bear signs as a non-tendered UFA, you shouldn't sign him via the offersheet mechanism, it's misleading due to the compensation going the other way</div></div>
my b
and as for weegar, if the canucks take on net cap then there needs to be some benefit to them. as far as i can tell florida will be all-in next season, and will need cap space to bring on more players. Theyre sitting at 3 million in cap space with 6 roster spots to fill

Fair enough on Fiala deal
Bear is signed after he becomes UFA
Panthers do that trade to clear cap space

surely miller commands more than that? maybe im out to lunch. probably thinking of miller's value with salary retained to teams like COL/TBL/TOR that want to take another run with a 99-pt center at 2.7 million a season

well then
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>I sort of see what the OP is getting at, that Dadonov and Broissoit's contracts would lower the value from that side, but if I was Vegas, I'd simply use a 2nd to dump Dadonov, then shed another $4-5 mil elsewhere. I'd certainly not be moving my best (or 2nd best) dman for a 1 year rental on a position that really isn't a huge need. </div></div>
Good point - do you think a 2nd really moves Dadonov? Do you think he agrees?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lenny7</b></div><div>Everybody crappin' on Vegas forgetting that their best players, guys like Stone and Patches, missed more than half the season, Eichel had been out a full calendar year, then there were a whole bunch of other guys who missed a ton of time. The narrative that Eichel is the reason they lost is hilarious :tearsofjoy</div></div>
I figured the 1-year rental of Miller was a good way for vegas to get another quality player for another push next year while gaining flexibility the year after, the cost being Theodore. I agree they underachieved massively this year

very hard no from VAN. eriksson can be dumped for a 2nd+3rd. roussel for a 2nd. schmidt worth a 2nd or 3rd. meanwhile, OEL could be replaced on the open market for 3-5 million per... and he's got 6 seasons remaining! Being generous, thats (8.25-5-1.1)*6=13 million cap-years... which is twice what Eriksson has remaining. brutal trade for vancouver without retention
