To me, he's the best in the class. Love his 6'2 size (he'll probably be at least 200 by the time his rookie season starts) and he's already playing against stiff competition. They will both be generational talents, but if it were my team, I'd want Fantilli.
On a side note: that Leo Carlsson looks OUTSTANDING! He'd be my number 3.
Of course, these are just my opinions (please no hate!) :)</div></div>
Cant hate a person for giving their opinion. People on here comparing Bedard to Mcdavid and Fantilli to Eichle are not paying attention to the facts.
both those guys were within 1" and 10 pounds of each-other and so you could base your preference purely on skill.
Bedard is great but 5'9" and 155 pounds while Fantili is almost as good offensively and almost as fast but is 6'3" 195 pounds. and in a sport as physical and violent as hockey 6" and 40 pounds is HUGE. Bedard will be a very good hockey player (I see him being a slightly better version of Gaudreau) but Fantilli will be a powerful physical force while also being very good offensively (like a better bigger Pastrnak) and if a team like the sharks had the option to draft either one they would only have to look at their top 4 offensive prospects (Bordeleau 5'10" 165, Eklund 5'11" 178, Robins 5'8 160, Gushin 5'10" 178) and see a powerful larger C to offset their smaller prospects would be wise.

Next Season Stay Patient
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markmws</b></div><div>I respectfully disagree. The Habs can absolutely get a first for Edmundson. He's a far better defenseman than Chiarot, has won a Stanley Cup, is big and physical, a leader, and has a good contract that will be under team control for a few seasons. I have no skin in this game (not a fan of either team), but a 3rd clearly wouldn't be enough to obtain him.
Now, I am not sure that the Capitals necessarily <em>need</em> Edmundson. We can argue that. But to say that Edmundson could not get that team a first is being unfair.</div></div>
I agree that Edmundson could fetch a first. I can also almost guarantee the Caps won't be the team to make that move. Defense is more or less set for the year, and we need to retain futures and picks since the contending window in DC is closing.

While I like Girard, I feel like some of this is sacrificing the future just to be competitive for a bottom playoff spot. I'd rather trade a few assets (i.e. cap hits) and gain futures. If the Canadiens can do that, they will really set themselves up to be a top-of-the-league team in 4-5 years. They just have to be smart about it. That's just my opinion though, so please don't hate. :)</div></div>
They need to bet on high upside players. Girard isnt a number 1 D. Guhle has every tool, if he doesnt make the show as a number 1, it's still a shot they took instead of just trying to compete for a playoff spot which would be the message in any trade involving Girard and a high upside player

I doubt MTL finishes last AGAIN honestly, the talent is there.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>markmws</b></div><div>I think Guhle is going to be a monster; it would be tough to trade him.
I know that he (Dubois) is a fracophone and that being fracophone is legit important to the community, organization and fan base (totally respect this), but I just see them having different needs. Dubois is obviously talented, but he does come with baggage and he isn't a right-shot defenseman. Finally: Dvorak did not have that bad of a season, and was dynimite in the face-off circle. While he's not a second line center, he would make a great third-line option; I would wait and see what happens at the draft lottery before deciding on Dubois. (that's just my opinion, though).</div></div>
The whole purpose of moving Dvorak is to make him somewhat equal to Tuch in the Eichel trade (but worse obviously, because Eichel >> Dubois), and Guhle as Krebs. But if you don't want to move Dvorak i dont know who else you move

But sure, nonsense right?</div></div>
I can understand that moving Price at 10,5M is impossible and a bad move for any team. But I will take Price at 2,65M anyday of the week before Kosk or Smith. Any GM, analyst or someone with common sense will agree that Price can be a top goaltender again. Man even Doug Armstrong and Team Canada was giving him the #1 spot as goaltender if he was ready to play.
As of Chariot he proved that he can be on the ice for 24+min of the ice and being good. Again the consensus for him it's a 1st round pick at the deadline. So I don't really care if ur argument is : Chariot is just bad lol.

As for chariot, he proved that he can be on the ice for 24+ mins and get absolutly hammered out there. Like hilariously so, he gets murdered in shots and chances against. He's just awful and when he doenst have a selke candidate and goalie putting up insane numbers he's exposed for what he is.
There is no consensus that it's a 1st round pick value for him, it was literally one mention by Lebrun that people have clung onto like it is gospel because they really really really want him to be worth that. Whether you like it or not, Chiarot is getting a 1st. Up to half a dozens contenders are interested according to Friedman/Lebrun so so you know one is going to give the late 1st. If Savard got a 1st, Chiarot at least money will get a first.
Sorry if you don’t like it, he’s not worth a 1st, but it is what it is.
All I know, is Edmonton is tanking and they need a goalie ASAP.

Totally agree and sometimes you have to take advantage of the best options available, but sometimes you have to consider if no move is better. I personally haven't looked around at the goalie situations, so I'm shooting from the hip a bit, but is a 1st worth 1.5 seasons of Jake Allen or is it better to roll the dice for this season and re-evaluate in the off-season?

I’d rather a 2nd round over Lavoie but other than that, sure.
I don’t like Lavoie, I’ve seen him a dozen times in Halifax. I don’t think he’s an impactful player by any means at the NHL level. I hate this comparison because it appears lazy since both agreed are from Quebec, but he gives me Louis Leblanc vibes. He has this deer in the headlights look sometimes. Talented player for sure, and I think that helped in juniors but I don’t think it’s enough at the NHL

While Foote was a first and is a good prospect, I would assume that we can all agree that he does not have anywhere near the ceiling that Caufield has. I like Mukhamadullin, and he may well become a top 4 defenseman (he looked good at the WJC).
Never say never, but I would assume that the Canadiens aren't going to trade Caufield. There aren't many untouchables on that team, but I assume that he is one of them. This is all just my opinion though, so please don't hate. :)</div></div>
I think caufield is heavily overrated. foote and muck hammah are still good enough prospects that their draft position still weighs on their values. im not saying footes gunna be mcavoy or anything but hes still a quality enough prospect.
I think this is probably fair value to an overpay for caufield ( i just am not high on him, hes small and relies heavily on his shot.) agree to disagree on value with anyone who comments though.

He isn't a top pair guy, but he is a second pair guy who is responsible and physical. If a team has Stanley Cup aspirations, then they would assume that the 1st round pick is a later pick. Giving up that late pick for Chiarot would be worth it. There are plenty of teams that need what he brings, and I can absolutely see him netting Montreal a first. I understand a team like Washington or a team that’s atop the league trading for him because the first would be late. I don’t see a team like Edmonton doing it cuz that first could easily be an early first. Trading for chiarot will not bump them into the contention category. I just don’t see it. I still think Edmonton is the team that should be trading for Price. With the caveat that we see he's healthy and ready to go first.
At 50% retained, something like Bourgault and a 1st isn't a lot to ask. The pick could even be conditional on Edmonton's playoff success.
They're currently running a 39 year old and a 33 year old. It's not like they would be getting older in the crease. Price and Smith would only come in ~$1M more than they are paying for goaltending now. That could be a hell of a duo with their workload being reduced and Skinner gaining experience behind them, which would be good for his development. Price also has the ability to backstop a team through the playoffs and win games, which is what Edmonton's focus should be.
Colorado makes less sense because they picked their guy and traded for him already. They should give him at least this season and a shot in the playoffs before deciding if they made a bad deal and should change goaltenders.
