Based on what? He's not fragile and he's no more or less soft than the bulk of the roster. Pasta and Krejci are the same level of physical as Kase.

Agree - McAvoy got 4.9m and Carlo got 2.85m on bridges, why does Sweeney shell out 5m for Gryz. Anything over 4m for him is an overpayment.

Bruins Offseason
I think you're much more likely to see younger players plugged into the holes than signing cheap low level free agents. Lauzon, Vaakanainen, Studnicka, Frederic, and Kuhlman. I'd much rather see Kuhlman on Coyle's wing than Derick Brassard. I don't quite understand the Moore hate when you're willing to bring back Chara who will be exponentially slower than the rest of the league when next season starts or Zach Bogosian.

NO ONE WANTS DAVID BACKES! Even if he waives his NMC, he is a net negative trade asset because of his contract and his on ice value. He has locker room value, but most of the time coaches don't count against the salary cap. I think he's a great guy and a great leader. He logged many miles playing a heavy game and his body is just slowing down. I wish he had more left, but he doesn't.

I can't see how any fan views Donnie that way. Cassidy and Donnie have both done a great job. Bruce learned his lesson from his failed time in Washington, and Donnie learned all the lessons Chia taught him. If this was Chia's team (and they weren't still in cap jail) then he would have traded Pasta already. I was okay with the Nash trade at last year's deadline and I'm okay with Donnie not making any moves this year. I wouldn't give up a first for a rental and I still think the jury is out on most of the young guys.

If BOS went all in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ngikas</b></div><div>Like I think this is a lineup that could be a real threat to tampa. I think all the prospects in the deal have a legitimate shot at being NHL players. The highest ceiling being Studnicka and JFK and I think they're both locks to be in the NHL as top 6 centers. BOS has a log jam at LD right now and I can't see Zboril cracking the lineup any time soon with how Vaak and Lauzon have developed and the emergence of Grezlyk. Senyshyn will get there soon I think too but his development has just taken longer than expected. The draft picks are tough to give up but they carry value and especially in the OTT deal, they need a first rounder desperately.</div></div>
The only way Tampa doesn't get out of the East is if they have a significant injury or injuries OR a complete meltdown. They're so dangerous. They're defensively competent. Vasi is elite. They play fast and heavy. I think I'd rather take the first wildcard spot and have to go through the metro this season.

I don't know much about Tierney, so I'll leave that up to someone else who knows more about him.
I don't mind the Gust deal. I'm afraid the ask is going to be much more than that. Acciari has been good, no complaints about what he brings to the table. But, how many guys are there in every organization who can bang into **** and not score? I don't think the league values him. I wouldn't be surprised if the ask on Gust was roster player under contract, prospect, and 1st. Scoring at .83 PP/G will get you a good return even for a rental.

Hahaha damn concussions... better get him some of the Brady concussion water!
Bs D depth has been really good this year. Almost everyone that has suited up this year has looked like they belonged for the most part. Clifton, Kampfer, Vaak(limited ice time), Moore, and Lauzon all looked fine. You add in the regular guys and I'm mostly happy with the output from the D. Don't get me started on the secondary scoring. If you aren't familiar with secondary scoring it's because the Bs don't have any.

Krug is the most valuable and most tradeable asset BOS has. Removing Krug from the backend actually improves the D quality in the Bruins own end. People get hung up on Krug's point production, and it is impressive. But, because Krug is a quality player, BOS can expect a quality return. Adding a point producing winger starts to balance out the scoring between the top two lines. I don't think BOS makes it out of the first round with their current scoring distribution. They might not even get into the playoffs. By adding a winger to the second line you improve the output of DK46 as well. Krug also has a team friendly deal at the moment, so any team taking him on is not getting solely a rental, nor are they getting a player who is a cap albatross. BOS is not going to have the cap space to resign Krug at the number he will command after next off season because of the young guys who will be coming due.
That's my opinion.

Perfect Fit
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ctgoalie</b></div><div>I don't think loosing Krug would be as big of a hole as people make it him out to be. Yes we would miss his offense from the back end but it we got the a quality Top 6 right wing that would be pretty easily offset. It would also make our defense better in out own end and we are already sitting at 4th in the league with 2.63 Goals Against a Game, and we have plenty of LD in the system ready to step up. I do agree that buying Toffoli low could be a low risk high reward move and possibly the best option. I actually really like the John Moore contract, he plays above his pay at worst is a very tradable asset if we need to move him.</div></div>
I agree completely. Krug is the most traceable asset in terms of returning value and team impact. Krug is great, but a defensive liability. If you add a quality forward then your team is going to improve by bettering the D and adding secondary scoring. AND, giving Krug his pay raise when his contract is up is not fiscally sound. He will not be worth his next free agent deal. Trading him not gets a team a player that is under contract through next season too and not solely a rental. Too many people live in this philosophy: kRuG sCoReS sO mAnY pOiNtS, yOu cAn'T tRaDe hIm!

Carlo will laugh in your face if he's offered $1.7m. If that's the ceiling then the entire league will offer sheet him. You know what that compensation is? A third round pick. This is the same guy who, on frequent occasions recently, has been your best defenseman.

Next Year
I think your sum for Mac and Carlo is in the ball park. It will be interesting to see how Sweeney and Mac's agent approach this. If you're Mac, a long term deal is going to be below your ceiling because he hasn't really hit full stride with all the missed time/injuries. He may want a bridge deal so that he can really get PAID in years 6-12, as opposed to taking slightly below market for the full 7-8 years. Management may want to lock him up at that lower number. Trouba got $5.5m on a one year bridge, Skjei got ~$5m per over 6 years. I think Carlo and Mac are going to cost the Bruins between $10-13m. There are nights where Carlo hedges on being the best Bs defenseman.

You couldn't be further ahead in preparing for an expansion draft. Why would you trade prospects without a deeper understanding of their ceiling. BOS might not have a roster problem when Seattle comes into the league. You made the team worse. Depth is not a luxury.

Trade with st louis
Let's start with the most egregious of the trade offenses. David Backes. No one wants him. I don't know how many teams would take him even if the Bruins signed every single one of his paychecks. The Bruins aren't even loaded with talent, but he still doesn't have enough quality to belong in the lineup. He appears to have aged 5 years in the last two and he is slow. Slow in a modern game that is built on speed. Backes is built for power and grit and against a heavy STL team last night I don't remember any hits. Contrast that with Acciari, Wagner and Koraly who hit almost everything that moves. If Backes wasn't making so much g'damn money he would be a buyout candidate. BOS would still be on the hook for a substantial cap hit.
Next, you don't trade young developing talent for older established players who aren't head and shoulders above the prospects. Perron has decent output this year, but how much of that can be attributed to playing with ROR who is having a tremendous year. Perron is heavily overrated.

TT: .34 points per game. David Backes: .31 points per game. You're giving up Kevan Miller for another David Backes? Get lost. Friendly reminder that Killer is the only legit tough guy on this team. Z isn't fighting anymore unless someone tries to end the careers of Rask, Bergy, Marchand, Mac or Pasta. Then he'll come calling, otherwise, it's Killer.

You're assuming this Tampa team is the same team health wise and performance wise as the one that will be in the playoffs. It's extremely hard to go wire to wire and win the Cup. Since '85, 8 teams have won a President's Cup and a Stanley Cup. You have a 19% of getting knocked out in the first round vs. 25% a chance of winning a Stanley Cup.

Second line winger.
That balances your scoring and increases the impact of both top two lines. Boston can make a trade for a skilled winger without decreasing the quality of this year's team AND without creating a prospect deficit.

Even if he hasn't said it, why would he want to come back to Boston? The organization sewered him after trading him. They used his off ice "issues" as fodder for why they took less than his value to trade him. It was unnecessary and feels similar to what Lites just did to him and Benn. Players don't need to be **** on in the public. That garbage tosses unnecessary shade on an organization.
