I think the strome contract is a combination of what he’ll likely ask for and what he’s worth. I’d do it. Also, gagner could be an option on the 4th RW

Great first off season move
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingExLeafs</b></div><div>I like the goaltending but the forward group is too soft and too small. Kerfoot and Engvall are not playoff type players. Kase is always injured, he's not reliable.</div></div>
This team is very skilled and fast, just like the Avs were who are kinda like, cup champs. Big heavy teams aren’t the way to go anymore. Also, every forward on this roster except for Nylander is balls to the wall on the forecheck, so they aren’t “soft”. Watch out for Robertson next year. He plays bigger than he is. If your definition of soft is fighting/hits, sure they’re not the best, but who cares about that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Muzzin isn't waiving for Detroit and Detroit isn't giving up a 2nd for a 33yr old dman</div></div>
A late 2nd for a late third and Jake Muzzin who is still decent isn’t a bad trade for Detroit imo. Considering their left side consists of Jordan oesterle I don’t think this is the worst idea. He ideally won’t be on your top pair, but as a 2LD why not

Such a bad situation in net
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GenXHockey</b></div><div>Are the leafs a festering pile of ****? Because that describes his play. I don't see any sort of fit with the leafs other than a cheap project that will not be a starter. Jersey doesn't move Blackwood for his diminished value.</div></div>
He has all the talent to be the good goalie he promised to be early in his career. He’s playing in front of a better team which should help. Give him some time and try him out. In the scenario they don’t give up much anyway. His value is really low, so the devils even trading him is unlikely, but if they were too, this would be ok. The fleury signing also provides some extra insurance

Best option out there that is realistic and fits the leafs

Leafs trade Muzzin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles5513</b></div><div>It isn’t lol. Muzzin contract is worse in terms of dollars, cap hit and has a full NTC. Isles can find a better defenseman than Jake Muzzin on the open market.</div></div>
Ben chiarot is the best LD on the open market. Muzzin is an effective defenceman when healthy

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Ya know, there's a lot here you could probably pull off, maybe a small haggle here or there. The real question is does this make them a better team?</div></div>
Deeper forward group, better goaltending, space at the deadline to add on defence, or on offence (defence more likely) (1st rounder to spend). The defence imo is the same. Sandin here a full year hopefully and better, Liljegren better, gio, Rielly, Brodie, it’s decent

Sorry lmao I thought it said Varlamov. Well if it was for wahlstrom it would be good value wise… but still the idea of trading sandin when we have no one else on LD after Muzzin is past his prime (arguably is now).

No. The leafs aren’t moving sandin. Also, if they were to, trading for a goalie with a year left on his deal would not be an ideal trade.

Well I think losing Gaudreau makes them lose contender status one way or another. Looking at it again, it would be more worth it to trade him and pay the price, then sign jarnkrok
