So Hanifin for Montour one for one?
That is actually pretty close.
I am not sure what needs to be added to square that deal.
It balances our LHD with RHD.
At this point I think Bennett has more potential but Johansson is the better of the two right now. So I do not know if I like that part of the deal.
EDIT:
Let me add, if Buffalo could sign Hoffman and swap Montour for Hanifin, the Sabres would be much better than this years team.
I also like not trading away the 8OA pick.
Buffalo finally has some actual NHL prospects, I like the idea that you are not trading any futures away.
Lastly, last year's team would have been in the preliminaries if Hutton did not go blind, or Skinner does not implode, or if the PK did not self destruct, or if Rodrigues and Sheary had career bad years, or the PP just disappear, or if Krueger knew how to put together an NHL line up.
So last year's team was close, if not for many unforeseen disasters.

It is very strange. Cirelli is much better as a defensive center, Strome has problems with this, and Dylan has problems with skating. I would also think whether to trade #7 for Cirelli, but I definitely would not give away #7 for Strome, especially in this draft.
for me
Cirelli > Strome

Philly probably takes that, although I think its a slight underpayment on their behalf, maybe a 2nd instead of a 3rd or a high ceiling mid level prospect added.
Philly needs a RD, Ghost is not the right fit in Philly, and its been to his detriment that Provorov, Sanheim, Hagg and Myers all developed at same time. I think its not a huge downgrade from Risto to Ghost. Risto will either sink or swim going forward and while theres an age difference, the contract difference would be huge at renewal. Both are number 3 dmen, not number 1s.
Philly doesn't need to move Ghost, so theres no point in trading him for an underpayment. Theres also expansion coming and its really down to what either team will protect. PHI will protect Sanheim, provorov and myers likely, whereas BUF will have McCabe expiring and likely getting close to Ghost monies and could protect Dahlin, Montour and Ghost.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>melloni17</b></div><div>What would it take in your opinion?</div></div>
I would think that they would be after either our 2nd or a good prospect plus an NHL forward and a depth d man atleast
I would be comfortable doing 2nd, Vesey or Sheary and Montour or Pilut

That is true but for team fighting for a wild card pilut doesn't really help and if they're trading trocheck their 2c theirs prob more trades coming

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>melloni17</b></div><div>I agree with you, the only thing that scares me is his contract. Could be another Okposo</div></div>
He still looks good on the PP and he has been putting up points playing with AHLers and 4th liners this year -- less obviously, but he still is. He was playing well at the start of the year when injuries hit on a line with Duchene and Granlund (I think it was Granlund) and he got the majority of his points then. So give him good line-mates and he plays fine and produces. He was on pace for like ~50 points before they stuck him on the 3rd/4th line with non-offensive players. But regardless of all of that, you're right, it is a big risk for anyone to trade for a 30 year old center with a $6m cap hit for another 4 years after this season. So who knows

Preds would do it - I think he could really turn it around though given some consistent line-mates and players like Skinner on his wing.

No, Reinhart signed a bridge to prove himself better beforr signing. If he proves hes a 8 mil-9mil player, Buffalo can give him that. Hardly a kings ransom for one of the smartest players in the game imo. Certainly not a Marner 12 mil request

I think your very accurate on Risto. Considering what Winnipeg got for Trouba from the Rangers is what the Sabres will.get for Risto. A 1st and a Player , personal opinion I'd want something more proven then something like Puj who I think is a bust.

With the amount of wingers we have, I think Risto + Sheary for RNH is pretty damn close.

perhaps if you took back a back (short term) contract, i would venture Holland likes RNH over risto; but risto is cheaper younger, and signed an extra year.... this has the start of something

Given last two seasons Wennberg, he definitely doesn’t cost much, much less Columbus doesn’t need Risto, they have Seth Jones and David Savard on the right side.
