Rumor
All I saw was 5 player trade being discussed with Detroit centered around Risto and Mantha! The rest on here was just me messing around! It's out there if you choose to chase the rumor but as far as a "source", there is no such thing as a reliable rumor source! It's all made up bologna from so called "hockey experts"

Going to need to trade some big names and big salaries off that roster in the coming years. No way to fit all the big contracts. Especially with the goalie contract they signed! With that team any goalie would have been good enough! That's a wasted 9.5Mil cap hit that could have paid Point. They will be in cap trouble for years to come. See PIT and CHI as examples. At least those 2 won multiple cups!

Only helps this season! Next season with that deal they would need to sign 8 players and have 5Mill if the caps stays the same or a tad more depending on how much it goes up! TB is screwed just like Toronto. win this year or it's all going to start to unwind!

its hilarious because its the exact argument you are making for Mittelstadt not playing wing hahaha
i love how you act like you had a beer with Krueger this weekend and he showed you his lines for game 1 ha
Cozens gets 9 games</div></div>
2 seasons ago Reinhart at center was tried by Housley. Remember? That's how he ended up with this **** bridge deal that will kill the sabres next season. All the fans wanted him traded and how he only produced the second half of the year. It was because he is too slow to be a center in the NHL. He is going to be a premier right winger in the NHL. Mittlestat has the wheels to be a center. Watch them play! Reinhart is a better producer because of his net front presence and his ability to pass from the wing. He isnt a fast enough or fluid enough skater to play center in the NHL!

B. The 9 game tryout only applies when a player would go back to juniors instead of the AHL. I think Cozens can play in the AHL this season. (Have to double check his eligibility for juniors)
C. Olofson di play a few games at RW last season but is better on his natural side. He will slot on the 3rd line LW to start the year.
D. Mittlestat is a center. He is only 20. Hence not lighting it up last season. He needs seasoning on a 3rd line which is why Botts should be doing everything in his power to land a legit 2C to play for 2 years and would be ok at 3C when Mitts takes over the 2C spot</div></div>
Cozens does have junior eligibility left so the 9 game tryout is indeed correct. He cannot play for the Amerks this season

Reinhart was drafted as a Center played center his entire hockey career except past couple years
olofsson plays both wings yeah LW is his natural side but read the damn description...his one time is nuts-theres a reason why ovechkin plays LW not RW
mittelstadt didn’t exactly light up the league at C so try him at wing just like we did with Reinhart before

He didn't leave the team last year. you are thinking of Berglund. No indication he will just forfeit his contract. most likely he will be waived or play on the 4th line,

If we are able to trade him we will have to, without a doubt, retain 50% of his salary! Buying him out is a bad option because than we are stuck with partial salary for this season plus next season. The most likely scenario for him is that he is waived to be sent to Rochester, we save about 1 million on the cap this season and he is completely gone next year. Everyone's thought that he will Null his contract and go the KHL will not likely happen. He will do the Matt Moulson and play in the AHL and get paid his 3.5 million

You are probably correct. I also connected the 2 teams from all the whirl winds of Risto to Tampa while Stevie Y was there. Could be possible he likes the player was my thinking here.

I mean if they're trading Mantha shouldn't they just tear down completely and trade most everyone else a do a full on rebuild?
If they did trade him for Ristolainen I'd guess they'd want a 1st as well and something better then Hickey, probably a good forward prospect rather then Hickey like Pekar or that kid Sabres fans are super high on, Oloffson I think his name is.</div></div>
I looked at DET depth chart on D and their defense corps is aging. Why I thought it made sense to trade for a 24 yrs old D man with offensive ability. There is the possibility of a first in this deal if Mantha performs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mk458</b></div><div>So you agree that Risto has value, but you fail to see that Wennberg is a cap dump at this point. He can't score goals, he's not especially good in his own end, and he just came off a year where he put up 25 points in a full season. He might be able to turn things around and be a 3C, but at this point his 5 million dollar cap hit for the next 4 years is a huge burden. If the main peices are going to be Wennberg and Risto, Columbus needs to retain a million and add a prospect</div></div>
Wennberg and Risto both have lousy numbers. Ristos worsr plus minus in the league for the past how many seasons do NOT increase his trade value what so ever. Wennberg needs a change of scenery. The basis for the trade is there, maybe picks added or whatever needs to be

He does have value, you are correct. What are teams really offering? I cant see any team offering a 2C which is what we need or even a legit top 6 player. Botts is going to have a hard time moving him for real value. At this point there is no room on the roster for him and Jarkiharju and Bogosian.

Whats the Point
I think a attempted trade for him would be the better option! Than you would be able to give the player the "most likely" 5 year deal that they would want. Problem with trading for him is that Tampa cannot take on any salary and the Sabres would definitely need to shed a bunch to sign him. Point to Buffalo is very very unlikely to happen. He will probably do the Kucherov thing and sign a 2 year cheap bridge and cash in after that!

The CBA has rules about a players age and number of games played in the league. He is a RFA but is not eligible for an offer sheet because of one of those clauses. You can look it up on this site!

I think he is moved because of the log jam on the right side. Jokiharju may start in the minors if he isnt moved. I hope they land a top 6 RW to be honest
