They have traded before (Kevin Hayes most recently) I do agree that it would be better served to send him out west if he really is going to get a change of scenery but you never know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think its more about the establishment of a winning culture more than anything and having these guys that have been around for so long and been successful, giving guidance to these young kids and showing them what it takes day in and day out. Big Z has shown that when he is in a limited role he can still be very effective. For Jumbo Joe same thing.. he brings the veteran presence and professionalism as well as the snarl. It doesnt have to be huge minutes per night for them or even playing on an every night basis, sheltered roles so that these two amazing former captains can bring the leadership these kids need and for the contracts that they have, its a low risk high reward situation.

Avs 2021
As a rangers fan, I dont hate this... Buch has proven to be an important piece of the offensive puzzle but this could clear some space for another up and coming winger and address the need for center depth that they need. Not really sure what would be needed to balance out the trade since buch is an RFA and will be team controlled for a while so that certainly increases his value.
Overall nice idea though

Makar is an incredible talent but I don't think he is better than fox on defense. I think he gets the edge in offense, but with fox's intelligent play, in what I would consider the most difficult division in hockey, playing in all situations, you have to give it to Fox

Gotta love the Kakko is a bust. Dude is 20 yrs old and is putting together a 200ft game and developing his play to be more well rounded. He isnt needed to be "the guy" like most 2nd OA players would be because he is on an actually decent team with players already set in their roles. Watch his game and look at his board play and you will see what i am talking about. Next season he breaks out with consistent play with better line mates.

You do understand that the buyout for DeAngelo is like 350k and 800k... not really a big deal for the Rangers to buy him out... as far as the value is concerned, this is wayyyyy too much to give up for broke neck eichel.

EDM as a team doesn't have that much cap space either, so a cap dump moving other to NYR pretty much need to be included.</div></div>
You do remember they got back ryan McDonough and JT Miller in that deal right... they didnt throw him away for nothing lol. As I said I would love to keep him, he just doesn't fit their timeline or their cap unfortunately.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>He's pulling nothing crazy, but a pending UFA with decreasing numbers is extremely lackluster trade for EDM. They can, and probably will do better than that.
Also there's nothing that points on Namestnikov signing with EDM after the year. Based on how bad the team has been lately. it isn't exactly the most tempting place to play in.</div></div>
His numbers decreased because his role changed to a more well rounded 2 way player. That's why I was saying that hes like a swiss army knife type player who can play on any line. When he played with tampa on their skill line, he was on pace for 60 to 70 points and then came into a NYR organization that was rebuilding and didnt have talent up front. Put him with mcjesus and draisaitl and guarantee that he puts up 70 pts. Not to mention if he doesn't, he can play down in the lineup and play as a pen killer and forechecker. These are the types of players that can help a franchise like EDM and it's why they have been so terrible... they don't have players like that.

Signing the rfas to realistic contracts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>Who cares what some random site predicts? Heinen, another 24 year old winger, just signed for 2.8M over 2 years and he didn’t net 20 goals this past season. Buch gets between 3-4M or he should fire his agent.
I agree Trouba probably won’t get 8M. 7-7.5M sounds about right.
Puji hasn’t panned out, but I doubt EDM moves him for an overpaid 3rd liner, especially if they’re doing you a favour and giving you cap space. I don’t see it your way. I mean, would you trade 20 year old, former top 5 pick who has struggled for an overpaid 3rd line winger? I wouldn’t. In fact, if they were top 5, I’d wait until I was sure they were busts before moving them.</div></div>
Listen in a year or two, if lias andersson,7th OA pick, still has not become a solidified nhler, I would gladly trade him away for a guy like namestnikov at 3.5M a yr and see if he can mesh with the high end talent on the team.

Simple... cap space. The rangers have also taken a lot of reclamation projects from Edmonton over the years and they seem to find their games under the bright lights of MSG.

Buch contract is exactly what evolving wild is guessing on a 2 year deal and trouba is also on par with evolving wild for a 7 yr deal. Just because a guy says "i want 8M a year" does not mean he gets that amount. As far as the EDM trade goes they are trading a bust of a player and getting someone proven back. Pool party has put up 39 pts in 3 seasons total... playing with a talented group of forwards...I personally would like to see what a change of scenery does but all signs point to him being a bust.

Namestnikov fits in neither of those categories.</div></div>
Nobody is going to be willing to part with anything crazy for him as he looks like a bust already. They are however going to be getting back a top 9 winger on a pretty cheap deal, with the salary retained, and they can extend him if he is a fit. Almost no risk for EDM as pool party leaves to go to Europe if not traded.

Realistic Shatty to ANA trade
I'm going to go ahead and disagree with every single statement made in this entire thread... the NYR are not going to trade him as he has not been as bad as some people on this site think. He has had 1 bad season since coming to NYR due to injury. If they were to do anything regarding cap, it's going to be moving players that they see as not part of the future, or they buy out a player like brendan smith or send him down and trade a guy like strome or namestnikov. The marleu cal dump was terrible IMO as they are still in a situation that isnt favorable to keeping their guy regardless and gave up a 1st for it. The rangers are not in the same situation either and have a lot more options.
