Nah, he was plenty fine in PIT. He's somewhat lacking in mobility but he's steady defensively. Given the role he has played, he's certainly held up his end of the bargain of his 3.25mil contract. And if you think he's such an atrocious player, then I sincerely hope you've given Nurse full credit for carrying a top pairing to success with an awful partner for the past 2.5 years.

Ceci doesn't have negative value, Savard is worth a 2nd + 3rd ish and Ceci is worth a 2nd IMO so Desharnais offsets that difference. Kovacevic is worth like a 3rd maybe a 2nd so maybe you get a 1st for him + Allen. So you are about a 1st off

Taking on Dead Cap
Do you people ever look into anything before you post these?
1.) Foegele isn't dead weight.
2.) Anderson's contract is only marginally better than Campbell's.
3.) Allen is to expensive for EDM to pursue and isn't worth paying much for.
Put simply, no.

Oilers All in TDL
If our pro scouts believed that XB could be a C in the NHL, and this was the return, I dont think i'd be unhappy with that. We can sit here and say all these EDM prospects are likely not stars, but at the time of the Tippett trade, everyone said the late 1st was the most valuable thing in the trade and that Tip was on his way to becoming a bust.
I think this would be a fine trade for TK if the scouts believed in XB much like they did in Tippett

Could this be a good offseason
There's no chance EDM accepts that unfortunately. Also there's also no chance Bolduc slots in on the second line next year. My personal prediction is he gets his 9 game stint next season. Kessel should absolutely be in as of writing this, and the Saad move feels slightly un-needed, was it done for cap purposes? I'm also weary of adding another 6.5 on the blue line this offseason considering we've just got rid of one.

ALL IN FOR PARAYKO

Quoting: mm1010

if you look at his buy out is would regularly be just over 2 Million
since he had high base salary on the front end and lower on the back in those years his cap hit is 3.7M for the last 3 years of his deal.... so 1.7M more expensive to buy him out

Two things:
1. You're assuming the buyout happens at the end of this season? The math looks totally different than what you present: it's about $550k for two years, $2.2M for a season, $3.7M as you identify from 2027 through 2030, then drops to about $2.05M for six years. I get the point that you're making (more expensive versus conventional contract) but the uber-expensive buyouts that you're referring to were the back-diving deals like what Crosby, Ovechkin, Keith, and Weber were signed to many moons ago. @AC14 sets up a scenario where it's likely to be only the +35 years that the buyout focuses on. I believe that sets up June 2028 as the timeframe to look at this buyout from.
2. The four years of Parayko's buyout in 2028 onward progress as:
2028-29: $3.3M
2029-30: $3.3M
2030-31: $1.6M
2031-32: $1.6M
As long as the buyout happens after 2026, there's no fluctuation to the cap hit Parayko's buyout holds.

Deadline Blockbuster
Holloway doesn’t need a change of scenery. He only needs better injury luck to become a full time NHLer. He’s coming back from injury soon and the Oilers will see it through with this prospect. Who looked good before his most recent injury.
Akey looked great in Camp. He won’t be moved. Oilers and the fanbase are extremely high on this prospect. A bit of a steal in the 2nd round for us.
It’s a decent offer for a Campbell though I will admit. The pieces coming back can help. I assume Dickinson can be a decent 3C. Mrazek is an okay option as a backup to Skinner.
Considering that Campbells buy out cost is very easy to take on. I can’t see the Oilers doing this. They can save all those futures and still get rid of Campbell in the offseason and free up plenty of cap space (3Mish saved in the first 3 years).
If we could swap those prospects with some other prospects there could be something here. Maybe Bourgault (former 1st round pick) instead of Akey. Maybe Broberg who actually needs a change of scenery instead of Holloway who’s pretty much already on the Oilers active roster.

Edmonton doesn't even consider that trade. Why would they ever retain 2.5 million when the buy out in the offseason is 1.5 million.
If Edmonton trades Campbell they wont be retaining. If there is a trade to be made it will be with one that knows they are going to be buying Campbell out in the offseason.
Lets take a team like Chicago. Edmonton trade Campbell plus 2024 1st to Chicago. Chicago buys out Campbell in the offseason. The buy out for Chicago is only 1.5 million per season. Essentially Chicago gets a 1st to buyout Campbell and take up 1.5 Million in cap space for the next 6 years. With the cap going up so much over the next few years its pretty minor.
And if Edmonton cant trade him they will just buy him out themselves in the off season.

Edmonton Declines. They keep those picks and prospects and buy out Campbell in the off season. The amount retained is basically the same as the buyout would be.

He's a lefty. Edmonton already has Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak and Broberg under contract next year at LHD. They simply aren't interested in Edmundson, not even a little bit.
And then there's your ask: a 2nd and an NHL-ready power forward for a 1 year rental 3rd pairing defenseman who has known back issues and can no longer compete at the NHL level. Pretty ambitious of you.

This Offseason
I like Bjugstad but he's not getting that contract from any sane GM. His last 2 contracts were $900k each.
Campbell won't be bought out, Holland will give him another chance next year. A buyout saddled the roster with 8 years of dead cap - the exact 8 years that would be considered their Cup window. So that's a bad idea all around.
Kostin and McLeod are RFA's with no arbitration rights, so Holland will squeeze them for sure. That's just the way he does business.
Your Bouchard contract is spot-on.

Oilers 23-24
I don't see Edmonton wanting to move Foegele, or having to pay someone to take him of they do.
I read this the other day, seems relevant:
Among 13 Oilers forwards with at least 400 minutes at 5v5 (and 383 forwards league-wide at the same threshold), Foegele ranks
4th with 1.01 G/60 (71st)
7th with 1.81 P/60 (150th)
4th with 8.95 shots/60 (63rd)
2nd with 1.20 xG/60 (7th)
2nd with 6.13 iHDCF/60 (10th)
1st with 4.02 takeaways/60 (2nd)
5th with 8.34 Hits/60 (88th)
And that’s with minimal TOI with McDavid and Draisaitl. He’s proving to be well worth his salary, but fans don’t seem to be noticing.

Looking at the numbers now, and Provorov's defensive metrics aren't quite as good as Ceci's (past 1.5 seasons at 5v5). And since his cap hit is more than double, I just can't see any way this works for Edmonton.
If Philadelphia was willing to retain 50% (that's not the proposal) then there's a conversation to be had here, but it would have to be in conjunction with another deal for a defensive RHD. Personally I'd rather keep Ceci and trade Kulak + Puljujarvi for Provorov with 25% retained.

Broberg and Holloway will be on the season opening roster for cap purposes, any decision about demotion will happen in day 2. No such concerns exist for Nemo, so expect him to be sent out at the end of camp.
At this point I think Samorukov goes on waivers.

I don't see Virtanen making the team, let alone top-9. I'd move Yamamoto over and Holloway up.
Likewise, Koekkoek isn't going to be on the roster. That's already been announced.
