And tbh who thought before this season started the Flyers would be where they are? They were projected to be top 5-7 pick this year....

If the Flyers start to fall in the standings their chances of advancing in the playoffs gets smaller.
I don't think all those players are going to get moved.....should they be taking calls on them - absolutely. Walker should be moved - will probably cost too much to keep. Seeler would be valuable to a Cup contender + I can't see him as a piece of the long term future.
Picks and prospects can be flipped for better players when this team is ready to take off. Too many years where this team qualifies for the playoffs only to pick in the 20s....Briere braced this fan base for a real rebuild - this year has been a good surprise.

Guys like Seeler, Laughton, Walker, Atkinson should be on the block. Briere stated it before the season they want to build a team that's seen as a contender for the Cup every year, not just a team that makes the playoffs year in and year out. He's got a vision for this team and he should stick to it. This season was about letting the young guys play to see what we have. They've played well, theres no doubt about that.

I know the teams used in these scenarios may/may not happen....Used them from trade deadline rumors....The offseason is a totally different time then TDL....teams will make changes in the offseason, it's always a crapshoot. These are the players who I can see the Flyers dealing in the next season or two to turn this roster over. I didn't include TDA in the trades because, to be honest, who'd want him? Plus he only has one year left on his contract at this point....might as well let it play out.

Konecny trade
Plus DeAngelo wasn't that great during Carolina's playoff run in the defensive zone. I still think Neiderreiter gets more then 4-5 million even if its just a 1 year deal. Plus freeing up the DeAngelo money, regardless of reason, allows them to use that money to upgrade areas for a deeper playoff run.

Konecny trade
Carolina wasn't going to be able to afford DeAngelo as an RFA....They have 9 holes to fill on that roster with around $19 million to spend....If DeAngelo's asking price was between 4-5 million plus wanting to try and bring back Trochek (probably 6 mil/yr), Domi (probably $4 mil/yr), and Neiderreiter (probably $5-6 mil a year) it doesn't leave much room to stay as competitive without too much turnover in the roster.

Tear It Down
Remember this Flyers GM is the same guy who gave up 2 picks plus Ghost for absolutely nothing....and the defense didn't look any better without Ghost + the powerplay sucked without a blueliner that knew what to do on the PP. Ristolainen for Hagg, a first AND a second....Fletcher, in my mind, has NOT won a trade yet for Philadelphia (Atkinson is close, but I see what move as a draw between both teams)
The returns on these trades were just made up....not trying to be realistic....but I think the Flyer's retool/rebuild will include some/most of the players I used in trades.

I have no faith in Fletcher as a GM. "Retooling" over rebuilding is a stupid things to tell your fans. The Flyers have middle type talent right now...let the young guys play for a year....see what you got.....let JVR contract run its course.....put other vets up at the TDL and hope the youth make some strides. I know I sold players for pennies on the dollar in these deals, but I can see almost all of those players being included in a deal this offseason.

That's making Philly really old really fast....3 30 year olds (by the time next season begins) and pick #15 for 2 25 year olds, a first, and a guy on the last year of his contract that we have to pay half for on top of giving up the #6 pick? No thanks

Philadelphia Flyers signed Martin Jones (1 Year / $2,000,000 AAV)
Only 2 moves I've agreed with for the Flyers is the Voracek move and the Ellis move....it was time for Voracek to move on...and they needed to find someone who they could pair with Provy....
I don't understand the rest of the moves? Risto? A first and second for possibly a rental player? Jones? Why not Holtby? Thompson? He was terrible with us in the time he was with us 2 seasons ago.
Fletcher is a terrible GM....and the Flyers not having a legitimate owner overseeing them will be stuck in mediocrity for a long time.

You're right I spoke in a circle there....I think Fletcher SHOULD keep the pick, but he will, in reality, make a dumb move with it. Causing Flyers fans to shake their heads in disbelief.

Not sure Fletcher would be aggressive enough this offseason
I actually screwed up Talbot's $.....I was supposed to be $3.25 over 2 years. It may be high, but he does have report with Hart. So having him for two years as a backup playing probably 20-25 games, unless there's an injury to Hart could be good for Hart's development.
As for Honka/Myers....I didn't move Honka....He should've been the healthy scratch who would fill in every so many # of games.

Not a fan of Kevin Hayes. Wouldn't be upset if they don't sign him. Signing him for $6 million a year is a bit of an overpay in my mind. I don't see him as one of the top 75 NHL players under contract.

I believe Fletcher will make a dumb move with the #11 - thinking he's improving the Flyers. I think he keeps it depending on how the first 7-8 picks pan out. I think if Dach, Krebs, or Zegras begins to fall closer to 11.....he'll keep the pick. Possibly Cam York will be his pick if he makes it to #11.

Yikes
You see other GMs getting creative with their deals. Conditional picks....I understand our is a conditional pick, but c'mon if NSH wins one round they move up to a 3rd? What happens if Simmonds plays an integral part of NSH's playoff run? What if NSH wins the CUP....there should've been more conditions involved...
Look what NYR got out of DAL for Zuccarello....2 conditional picks that have a chance of being FIRSTS....The 2nd round becomes a first if they win 2 rounds and plays 50% or more in this years playoffs....the Zuccarello re-signs with DAL the 2020 pick becomes a first....You mean to tell me that Fletcher couldn't come up with at least ONE of those types of conditions? He's a moron.

Simmonds to VGK
I was just looking at scenarios for teams that are on the playoff bubble or may be looking for more depth/firepower. I didn't say they were good or even decent trade partners. I like Simmonds....I like him on this team....but up to a certain cost....he has to submit a 12 team approval list to PHI before they even consider moving him.....I'm looking at teams that he may be interested in. Could this package be improved? Absolutely....but what's the cost of a rental player who may or may not sign?
