ROR & Maroon
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckShmuck87</b></div><div>Sorry, but I have to disagree. Maroon has demonstrated in both Anaheim and Edmonton that he can play on the top two lines in a capacity similar to Tom Wilson (Caps). Frankly, I think the Blues need a heavy LW that can skate. I think that having that physical presence may make bringing up our younger players easier and we should be giving the youngsters some ice time. For the same reason, I think the Blues should re-sign Reaves. Last year, the Blues got pushed around and played with no perceptible passion. Reaves was missed (the same could be said for Oshie, but that horse is out of the barn for good).</div></div>
i like Reaves as a fourth line player, just like Maroon would be a good 4th line player for the Blues, but not a top line guy. But you have to remember, Maroon was playing with elite centers, something the Blues don't have. Schenn is a good center, but not nearly the skill of Getzlaf or McDavid/Draisaitl. Maroon isn't fast like Tom Wilson is, so that doesn't help us in that aspect (plus again, Wilson was playing with two elite linemates). I agree we need size, but we also need speed. Signing Maroon when you already have a ton of 3rd or 4th line guys without a ton of depth talent doesn't help.

Five stars for wanting O'Reilly.
HUGE over payment. Thompson, T. & Walman, J. are excellent prospects, Berglund, P can still score goals and Fabbri is a young established player. Way more the DATM gave up to get O'Reilly. Botterill says yes.
Let's make a deal!!! :cheers

Blues already have an overabundance of 3rd line wingers. Why get another in Maroon?

ROR, Skinner, Draisaitl... I would take any of them
Listen you really don't need all of that for Draisaitl...Parayko does it alone.

My dream additions for '19 - Tavares/Skinner
Except you are 5 million over the cap and need to send the Islanders compensation if you want JT for 8 years as opposed to 7.

Realistic Deadline - bring the hometown kid to STL
I've always thought that Schmaltz for Maroon would be a good deal straight-up... both teams fill needs, Maroon finds a payday elsewhere after the season.

Jaskin in the dog house
They'd probably ask for a 2nd/3rd rounder as well. I'd be okay with giving up a pick too. Especially once Berglund is back that's a legit top 9.

Wow what a draft day
Decent looking squad. Would expect Schwartz to play with Tarasenko though. Not sure why STL fans are itching to break those two up. Fabbri is great, but Schwartz and Tarasenko are effective together. Also wouldn't be surprised to see Schenn tested as their center at some point during the year.

Staal rumors
Staal is coming off a great season and is on a good contract; I expect his trade value to be a little higher than that. It does sound like a great idea, though, and we would still have our first rounder to hopefully develop into a quality center when Staal's term is up. Maybe one of Walman/Dunn/Schmaltz + 27th OA instead of Jaskin, who is essentially a bust/4th liner.

Now What?
Yep, we're just not as strong as last year's team, and not really rebuilding... which is scary. I could see Sobotka centering the 4th line and Brodziak getting scratched quite a bit, and I'd switch 20 and 26, but other than that, this is what we got. Kinda sucks when you look at what the rest of the central has going for them.:-/
