The argument for protecting Dumba is not to ensure he stays on the team but to ensure we get the best return possible. I’d rather get a center prospect we feel really good about and lose Greenway than get a guy we’re ho hum on to protect Greenway.</div></div>
Ah, I see. That makes sense. I just didn't know where you were coming from! I've been very impressed with how he's come into the AHL and played extremely well.
But in terms of trade return, you are right, Dumba is worth more.

Greenway is a fringe top 6 guy and Dumba is a top pair defense man. Couple that with Boldy coming in next year and we can easily replace what we lose with Greener, and teams lose the expansion leverage in a Dumba deal.
PS: Ignore this. Saw we won’t lose him in expansion. Apologies.</div></div>
Haha it's alright man. I agree that Boldy could come in and help right away but just to be devil's advocate, couldn't Calen Addison arguably do the same?

Sadly, in the end I think the Wild are going to go 7/3/1 and lose Dumba. Guerin doesn't want to ruin the chemistry that this year's team has, but also needs to protect all the young forwards. Although I don't mind taking a chance on this trade, I do think that we lose Dumba to expansion in the end. My thought is to trade a lesser prospect (definitely not Alex Tuch-esque prospect like Matt Boldy) and a high draft pick to take Ryan Hartman's signing rights. We can't afford him after this year and he'd be a great addition to a new franchise!

Trade the future to get Eichel at the TDL
Omg no. Why? Why trade EVERYONE for just one player?
Here's why we SHOULDN'T trade for Eichel:
1.) It makes no sense to trade the entire farm system for just one guy. It takes a whole team to win a cup.
2.) Even if we do trade for Eichel...we'd have no money for our other players. So might as well trade them too...

I guess I just assumed they were going to try to get him locked up long term. Since I doubted either party wants a bridge deal, I just assumed any contract would send him to UFA. But you're right, technically speaking they could do that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>I've had the 3 of them as a combined $15m-$20m.
For Fiala, I could see getting a shorter term Granny type of deal that takes him to his UFA years: 3 x $6m. I think he's a guy that is going to bet on himself getting a bigger payday as a UFA.
For Kaprizov, I can't really say. The guy is outstanding and getting better as the season goes on. His payday just keeps getting high and higher.
For JEE I have him in the $5m-$6m range with term.</div></div>
What's scary is that about $20 million is all we have to spend next year without a cap increase...between these contract negotiations and the expansion draft, we're in for a very interesting offseason

Not even going to comment on the value of the trade. I'm just going to point out that this would put the Wild WAY over the salary cap. You couldn't even retain 50% and make this work

I was trying to create a 2021/22 AC-GM for the Wild but had a hard time predicting what the titled players would get dollar/term wise. Admittedly, I am not a huge Wild fan so figured I would reach out to users who watch them more regularly.
What are your contract prediction this off-season for Kaprizov, Fiala and Eriksson Ek? Looking for term/AAV.
Thanks in advance for the feedback!</div></div>
I'm sorry, I thought someone else would've responded by now. I didn't respond when I first saw this because the truth is I have no idea on how much any 3 of these players are going to get. Fiala and Ek are in a position to seriously fluctuate their worth based on this season's results. Kaprizov is in a tricky situation. I believe he's in the rare grouping of Free Agent where he can't sign an offer sheet with anyone. So that should affect his value, but from how much? I don't know.
Here's where I personally see it myself at this EXACT moment (could change week to week):
Ek: $4x4
Fiala: $5x5
Kap: ...actually I have no clue on value or terms. I want to say Charlie McAvoy as a comp but his 3 year deal ends in RFA status...anything Kap signs will be UFA ending. So I'm guessing long-term but I don't know any comps for this situation.

It's okay, we're Minnesotans. We've been so bad for so long we're allowed to overreact to this stuff. Too many variables for me to call him a lock but I will say he is the HEAVY front runner at the moment. Unanimous if the season ended today. But a lot of season left so I'm not going to say a lock just yet.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jnowariak</b></div><div>Ryan Hartman from the Wild, he’s similar to Foligno in a lot of ways and playin* great hockey right now. Your ask is pretty big though. Gritty, can play top 6, also affordable. Might as well ask to chop down the biggest tree in the forest with a herring.</div></div>
<a href="/users/MatthewsDynasty" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@MatthewsDynasty</a> I agree with Jnowariak here. Michael Russo brought up a great point that the Wild might be forced to move Ryan Hartman or risk losing him because he arbitration number might be too high for the Wild. Leafs could use him as a rental for this year if they're looking to get grittier. Due to his size, he's not as gritty as Foligno. However, he also is very skilled for a grinder. So if you're going to trade for a Wild winger...he's the most likely trade candidate.

I want Eichel as much as the next fan...but we are in no position to trade for him. We have to essentially empty the asset pool to get him. The only teams who should do that are teams in position to win right now...we are not there.

Best hockey memory
Mine was when my buddies and I attended a Wild game in Colorado. We had like a group of 12 I think? Anyways, we decided to tailgate for the game. We knew it was against the rules but we figured, who hell cares? Worst case scenario we hop over to the nearby bars. We didn't realize how much of a hit it was going to be. Of course, we were the only people tailgating so naturally a ton of people stopped by for a beer and to say hi (both friend and foe) before the game. We were broke college kids so we had a small foreman grill that we brought to the game. One problem, we forgot a pan to use for cooking. So had to improvise and use this bag of toothpicks as skewers for our hot dogs lol.
Anyways, so we get into the game and there are a LOT of Wild fans in the building. Every time the Go Avs Go chant started, we would immediately respond with "Let's Go Wild." The game was heavily in our favor. Final score was 4-0 and by the 3rd period all you could were Wild fans cheering. It was awesome. We were also prepared if they were to win. We had a few bottles of champagne that we sprayed all over the nearby parking area as if we just won a championship (I know, it was excessive but we were drunk college students). It was just all around fun time and can't wait to visit my buddies in Colorado and do that all over again!

I'm sorry but that's a no from Minnesota. For what it's worth, I wouldn't trade Beckman for Strome straight up. That's not because of what Strome is but because we're "rebuilding" and Beckman is one of our top prospects. Strome would definitely help us out this year but we're not a true contender this year (at least I don't think so. Trying not to get my hopes up from this good start). Therefore I wouldn't want to trade one of our top prospects for someone who I consider a decent, but not good, center.

(CBJ/WPG) - Dubois and 3rd for Laine, Roslovic
Is this because Centers are valued much higher than wingers? PLD for Laine straight up was the only thing that made sense to me. Adding Roslovic for a 3rd seems outlandish and honestly a bit disrespectful to both Laine and Roslovic if you ask me. I hope both light it up in Columbus...of course this mostly because I really feel for Columbus' fan base.
