I hope one of the RFAs sign so the dominoes start to fall
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>I can agree with that.
To touch on the Laine subject, his uniqueness is what makes his situation interesting. I think he still can be seen as generational, I mean there is only one comparable to him in the league and that is Ovechkin. That being said I don't think its fair to simply strip that status away from Laine for going through some growing pains for one season where, in the end, he still put up 30 goals. He is third in the league for scoring since entering and provided he can start of right this year, will continue to build off of that, if not improve.
I think its fair to say that right about now he is in the middle between the 1st and 2nd tier, and it is going to take more than just next season to determine where he truly is in those conversations.
That's where a 3ish year bridge deal would fit nicely as it allows him time to improve on things he needs to and mature while also settling in to where he belongs in the leauge, which in my mind is still a generational goal scorer,</div></div>
Sure. But the thing is he really could be above the top tier. But you can't pay him like that as his game fell off a clip.
I agree with you the best move with him is a true bridge

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>I do believe in the domino effect and I think Marner is deffinetly the one to watch, but I think its almost a two tier market. The top being Rantanen, Marner, Point and then the second being Tkachuk, Connor, Laine , Boeser and Konecny.
I think we are likely to see contracts follow for those who are closer to a comparable for the player who signs first. So if Marner was to sign, I believe that we would see Rantanen and Point follow and then have some sort of traction begin on the secondary RFA tier situations, but I do not think that makes the contracts fall immediately or potentially close after.
But time will tell I guess.
Keep in mind that I only mentioned the high end forward RFA's</div></div>
I think this summer had a three tier market and an asterisk.
The four superstars: point, Aho, Rantanen, Marner
The stars who aren't quite superstars: Tkachuk, Boeser, Connor, and Meir
The good young forwards: Konecny, labanc, etc.
The asterisk: Laine. He is too unique. Until December 1st he was arguably generational. Then he hit a wall and stank for 2/3 of a season. I don't know how to value him
Note also tkachuk is close to the bottom of the top group

Solutions
I think any deal involving Laine and MTL has to start with one of Drouin or Domi. Add one of Suzuki or Juulsen, plus at least 1 first and some other stuff.
Ive said this before on here, but if Laine is available teams will be calling and a bidding war would ensue.

I agree, I would've liked for us to keep Chariot as well. I think his game really turned a corner in the playoffs 2 years ago.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>I think we may see something like this closer to the second half of the season if Roslo can take the next step, but I do agree that Wheeler could be a key factor in Roslovic finding his game as the 2C. Copp centering Vesa and Appleton would actually be a great line in my opinion, that may help Copp begin to flourish as a C which would be key for us.
We could potentially come out of next season with great in house positional depth at C if all pans out.</div></div>
true dat.
One thing for sure, the jets need a C to step up and take the reigns as the #2 guy. Copp or Roslovic

Bourque in
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>Trading Roslovic would be very irrational considering he will probably be replacing little soon enough if not by the end of the year. Even if Bourque does see significant playing time the lines will probably look like the following.
Connor Scheif Laine
Ehlers Little/Roslovic Wheeler
Perreault Roslovic/Little Vesalainen
Copp Lowry Appleton/Borque
I agree with the D lines
Also, Connor will probably see anywhere in the neighbourhood of 700-1.2 million more on a long term deal for 6+ years.
Laine on long term at 7 would be great but unlikely. 7 on a 3 year bridge maybe.
I agree move Kulikov even if it is for next to nothing.</div></div>
Thank you

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>I am interested to see how it goes down near the end of his contract. Do we potentially look at trading him to get something in return? Do we sign him to a team friendly deal here if he wants to finish his career with us? Or does he maybe go back to Chicago to close things out.
I really cannot tell at this point.</div></div>
I honestly couldn't even take a guess haha. I am definitely interested to see as well. I feel like a short team friendly deal might actually be a good option OR I could see him playing a year or two in Minnesota as he is from there and it's close to Winnipeg anyways.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bulletclub94</b></div><div>If Pionk is going to be playing top line defensive minutes you guys are going to get lit up bad. He's atrocious in his own end. You guys need to figure out a better option for a top RD. He's a top 6 RD at very best and possibly nothing more then an AHL top line dman.</div></div>
2 things.
#1 I think Pionk surprises this season. Do I necessarily think he is a top paring dman? No. But I think he is going to do a hell of a lot better than people are anticipating especially playing along side Morrissey.
#2 I was going to try and sign UFA Travis Hamonic (Manitoba boy) and put him with Morrissey instead. I think there is a very good chance he signs with us as he has already expressed his desire to play close to home. We might even be able to get him at a slight discount but we will see.

Well he can't be much worse then he was last season. When your everyday pairing is Marc Staal and he's better in his own zone there should be a red flag going off.

I think Morrissey boosts everyone around him’s play, so I agree Pionk should fair okay.
But I ABSOLUTEY agree Hamonic should be a top target for the Jets. Especially with Buff’s contract coming up, they will need a top 4 rhd, I’m not sure they will be able to resign Buff

Continuing the influx of youth on d
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mrright</b></div><div>Yes I have heard that as well, not to mention as soon as we drafted him he instantly topped our board for prospects.
I know people may think that we have a huge hole on the defensive end but really its finally time for younger guys to step in and its not as bad as it may seem. Imagine what our D core will look like in 3 to 5 years, it could be very scary.
Just have to wait and see.</div></div>
Between kovacevic (who could become a very good #2), samberg, heinola, niku, and most likely buff, we can boost pionk’s value and then trade him for futures. Not to mention that we have gawanke, Chisholm, vallatti, and green who all have top 4 upside.
In 2 years (after the expansion draft) I see the lineup looking like
JoMo-buff
Samberg-niku
Heinola-kovacevic
Depending on how much buff declines and how far kovacevic develops, kovacevic and buff could be switched
The real challenge will be keeping all these guys after their elc’s however, defencemen bridges are cheap

Yes, I kinda blanked but I do remember him going down to the third line because of that. I also forgot that he was back up and playing well by the end of the season.
