Case for Byfield if you know
Me personally, I like the Byfield option. Here's my what if: Pens get lucky, get the 1st overall pick. Trade #1 pick, Jack Johnson to Kings for #2 overall pick. Kings take Lafrienere. Pens draft Byfield as center of future. Byfield spends this year in Junior. Who knows what next hockey season even looks like with all of covid going on. 2021 Byfield is starting 3rd line center.

A Fun One
For the Pens...I would love to see Stall come back and Bjugstad go. I love Jordan Stall. BUT...the Pens can't afford to take on the extra cap space. Especially with a flat cap probably the next couple years. So I wish, but no chance.

LETS TRY TO UPGRADE THE JACKETS dont attack me plz
The Pens trade is interesting. After this season, I grew to like Tanev. Nyquist puts up better numbers than Tanev. I'm not sure that is the gain you're looking for because you'd only save 500k on the cap and be getting less point production out of the deal. Would definitely consider it for the Pens...

where does Hall end up
I think those 4 teams seem about right. maybe Florida if they have the cap space. I'd be shocked if its not a one year deal for next year...just bad timing. Since the cap probably won't jump, most teams just won't have to room to do much this offseason unless the NHL does allow some free cap dumps.

2020-2021 flat cap no CBO best case scenario
I'd be happy to see Sheary move on. I don't think he adds a lot and would much rather see Marleau in the lineup. Don't like Simon a whole lot either. Would like to see Poulin get a shot to contribute. If the choice is between Murray or Jarry, I expect GMJR to pick Murray unless he prices himself out of that conversation.
I think your deals make sense with the possible exception of the oilers deal. I just don't see getting a 1st round pick for Murray. As a Pens fan, I'd be for it but would be shocked by it.

To the Future
I like the deals except for trading ZAR. If you could find a different add in, I think that would be good. I know most won't like Gardiner's deal...that said, he's a much better fit for the Pens than Johnson would ever be. One thought that I've had for moving Johnson's deal would be to swap him with Phoenix for Grabner. Probably have to throw in a third or fourth round pick for the extra years on Johnson's deal. But I think Grabner fits the pens quite well and getting him would mean not having to resign Sheary which I'm definitely ok with. Not a big Sheary fan.

Next Year
I like the Graves add...Col might be ok moving him if they think Byram is ready for next year.
Why would the Pens want Barrie and at that much? I think Marino would be set for the second pair and have to pay him the following year.
Mccann will probably be closer to 4mil/yr.

At 86 is there actually room for Hall
I, as I'm sure many others are, looked at it too. I think you reached similar conclusion that I did in that Murray and Johnson would probably have to go. For Hall, I think he could get pretty close to a max deal. So I don't think he signs a 7 year deal at 9 million. I think the smart and reasonable play to Hall would be "Come play for the pens for 2 years @ roughly 9 mil per. Not quite max money, but still solid." Gives Hall and the pens a chance at the cup and then after 2 years, he's still young enough to sign a long term deal for big bucks elsewhere. And after 2 years, Sid, Geno, and Tanger will be much closer to the back side of their careers.

Doughty
The Doughty trade is interesting. Something the Leafs could definitely use. It would take all of that and maybe more to get him. The Kings would probably want Liljegren in deal. All that said, give the leafs current cap situation, that Doughty contract would be really hard to take on. That would mean the leafs would have 4 $11 million dollar contracts on the roster. Ouch.

minor thoughts. I think the cap for next year will probably be close to 84 million. I think McCann will probably close to 4 mil/yr. I hope Simon doesn't get paid anymore than that. I like the addition of TVR. Jarry at 4 mil/yr for 3 years seems right around what Murray got on his bridge deal. Bjugstad has to be moved out for cap. I really think JJ needs to be moved to but not sure how...at least he doesn't have Brent Seabrook's deal.

Wild
Huh? Are you a wild fan? Not going to comment on the wings trade.
I'll freely admit to being a Pens fan. If, for some strange reason the Wild GM called up offerring this trade to GMJR, he'd be nuts not to take it.
If you break it down, the Pens get a Top 6 winger and a Top 4 RD, both in long term deals...and a 2nd round pick. The Wild get a winger that was a 1st round pick, but is in a 4th line role, in the last year of his contract and the Pens best RD prospect. The deal makes no sense. Would gladly take it for the Pens if offerred...but if Guerin proposed it, he should be fired immediately and questioned about still working for the Penguins.

Pens fans input
As a Pens fan, I have a really hard time believing Addison gets moved unless its a really big pickup..and this isn't it. Marleau might be an interesting pickup, but not a major one. I do not see any situation where Thornton fits in with the Pens. He doesn't play the Pens style. Not saying he doesn't have value, just doesn't fit with this team. Dillon would help the D corps depth.
Might be interested in Marleau and Dillon for a 3rd and P-OJ or Almari.

Swap with Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>I think Pittsburgh would need to add a prospect or two to make this trade work.
Toffoli and Martinez are each worth a 2nd and a prospect. Lewis is worth a mid-to-late round pick. Galchenyuk isn't worth much more than a 3rd by himself. Kings would need some extra incentive to take back Johnson.
So let's say the 2nd and Galchenyuk for Martinez. The 1st + ??? + Johnson for Toffoli. 4th round pick for Lewis. You can keep that 7th.
Add in an expansion draft exempt B prospect and the Kings would probably do that. Someone like Almeida.</div></div>
I don't disagree. I updated the trade. thoughts on the additions?

ZUCKER
From the Pens side, I'd be down with that. From the Wild side, you wouldn't want anything in return that would play now? Like Galchenyuk or Simon? Seems odd to me to send out a good winger and get back zero assets that play now.
