Pretty sure Necas isn't going anywhere, if that's the ask.

Preds should spend that package on a natural center, which Necas isn't

NSH is pretty high on L'Heureux, and they've got enough talent coming up on the wings that they don't need to shell out all of that for Necas. He's not a difference maker.

Many insiders has pointed out that he probably deserves the Norris this year yet will probably finish #3. Makar has Toews as his partner whom in his own right does a lot to drive that pairing and enhance Makars numbers. (Yes makar is deserving too) Hughes took huge strides but his pairing in Hronek has be a huge benefits as well) Josi yet is always underrated and often viewed as substantial even when analytics points him is a great defenseman as well.</div></div>
Yes. he's a franchise player. Arguably the best defenseman in the NHL right now. A first ballot Hall of Famer. I was making fun of the guy who somehow thinks TOR couldn't use the guy, or that NSH would have to add to Josi in a trade for any of Marner, Nylander, or Morgan freaking Reilly.
Maybe <a href="/users/Ryminister_92" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Ryminister_92</a> is Scott Powers' burner account?

Also 0% chance “only Matthews” gets Josi… Matthews, Marner, and Nylander all clear Josi in value by a wide margin and Nashville adds substantially in that kinda deal. <strong>Even Rielly would get Josi plus a little extra.</strong>
Can’t really see Josi being a fit in Toronto at all.</div></div>
It should be illegal to be this hilarious.

Preds pass. No need for Chabot with Molendyk coming up in a few years. As it stands, we already have 5 NHL LD and I personally would hang onto the 1st and go for Skjei in FA if we were looking around.

Offseason ideas
This is an easy pass for NSH. Boucher has not looked good this year in the AHL, so why would NSH take a strict downgrade on all fronts by giving up more assets not only in prospects but in current NHL quality for a late 1st, an uninspiring prospect, and a 3rd next year? Tomasino is outpacing Boucher in PPG by a wide margin while also putting up nearly half a point per game at the NHL level.
This is also not to mention that NSH already has several top-tier RW prospects and young players like Evangelista, Kemell, and Wood in addition to Tomasino.

We've been through this before, still pointless to trade the goalie we would compete with for a winger to compete with. You keep Marner, this didn't work when it was proposed the last 500 times and it still doesn't work now.

I'm not opposed to Mangiapane as I think a change of scenery might help him out, but I don't think NSH would accept unless CGY were to retain salary then I think this would be better. Mangiapane has not been more productive than Novak and the thought of paying that price for a guy 2.3 million more expensive than Novak just doesn't make sense.
With NSH having an increase in dead cap from the Duchene buyout next year, the cap is a little bit more of a concern next year specifically, so for NSH to give up the player who has statistically been Josi's best partner and a 2nd, for a winger that NSH is taking a chance on, I'd rather be safe than sorry and if it goes poorly, NSH can retain at the deadline next year for a big return to recoup assets by trading him again with more retained salary.
Additionally, I'm not the biggest fan of the Stecher signing. If NSH moves a defenseman during the offseason, I'd rather just sign Statsney to a contract considering he has played well and has earned it. NSH can move either Lauzon or McD to the right side.

That's an easy pass on the Mangiapane trade. He's not worth close to that cap hit. NSH is giving up the two best pieces.

NSH isn't gifting OTT Saros for a late 1st and nothing else.
I agree that Chychrun shouldn't be part of the return though. NSH doesn't need another LD.

Some real poor UFA signing, too much $$$ and term for aging players. There is absolutely no logic in that trade to the cap strapped Sens or having any team wanting to extend Tavares for four more years.
You expect Preds to give up all premium in the exchange of two upcoming UFAs....Saros and Marner.?

No reason for Nashville to make that trade, not addressing anything we currently need while overpaying to do so and then burning a ton of cap to keep him.

He's still very young. Same age as Pärssinen. Just being paid well above what he should be at this point. Id take a game on him but not by giving up novak. That contract will be easier to deal with as the cap jumps over the next 2 years even if his production doesnt change much. Parssinen and a 2nd seems fair to me but im not convinced he is much better than what Parssinen ends up.</div></div>
Well that's exactly my point, ROR Novak Sissons (anyone for 4C) and KK isn't a jump above what is already in place. As you said Parssinen very well matches or surpasses and he's an internal option.

Anderson's contract is just terrible and Nashville has no room for that monstrosity. Let alone turning a promising goaltending prospect into a random later 1st round pick in 2025. It just doesnt do anything for nashville

No thanks from NSH. I could see an argument around a Saros+ for Marner trade, but NSH adding Forsberg - a guy who scores more goals than Marner, who's locked in for less money - is crazy.

Possible goalie solution NJ
Value aside, it doesn't make sense for NSH to trade Askarov for futures. Why extend the length of the rebuild/retool, by trading your top prospect for picks that will take years longer to contribute than someone who's on the cusp of doing that now?
When it comes to trading a goalie, NSH can either move Askarov for immediate help and re-signs Saros, or trade Saros for youth/futures that can grow and flourish on the same timeline as Askarov (the more likely scenario, IMO).
