I think if the avs can get another center I still like them to come out of the west but you have to say dallas has as deep a roster as anyone in the league.

yeah Dobsons having an incredible season, I just think Barzal is the more technically gifted hockey player. IMO gets a bit underrated I think playing on long island for a notoriously defensive team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>True. It would take some massive luck, though. Gavin McKenna will probably be 1st overall in 2026 and the new lottery rules only allow teams a chance to win the lottery two times in a 5 year span.</div></div>
I believe that rule only applies if you win the lottery from outside last place. If the hawks finish 32nd and pick first this year, they would still be eligible to win the lottery in 2026

Outside the Box Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rajvinder</b></div><div>One of the great things that Capfriendly did recently was partner with a scouting firm to provide free scouting reports on all players.
Now I'm sure you guys didn't take the time to read the press release but this firm makes millions selling it's scouting reports to NHL teams and offers a more limited free version on this site.
I'd highly encourage you all to navigate to the players names, click their name, and click on their scouting report. It includes amazing things like projecting the role of that player.
If you took the time to use this feature which was inbuilt to raise the quality of discussion on this site instead of people just saying random BS. You'd see that the consensus scout report for Vlasic is that he will be a mid-range 3rd pairing D. The kind of guy you pickup in FA every summer on a League Min deal.
If you looked at Robertson you'd see a higher end 3rd liner as his projections and Timmins is also a higher end 3rd pairing D than Vlasic.
These types of comments from Hawks fans really put this data into perspective: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/797075</div></div>
lol everyone knows cf has a scouting tool. It wouldve taken you less time to type "I've never watched Alex Vlasic play hockey so I dont know how good he is", since that is clearly the case. Try using some scouting analysis from this season if youre not going to watch the players play https://twitter.com/WallMaz35/status/1749646692033417685

Vlasic is borderline untouchable for the hawks at this point in the rebuild. He's a plus player on the worst team in the league as a rookie - all the makings of an elite shutdown guy.

Mack Celebrini Incoming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>I would not be opposed to Levshunov, but when I think about who is available and what CHI needs, Demidov and Lindstrom make much more sense. Especially when you consider the depth of RHD in this draft, we should be able to snag a very exciting RD with the TBL pick, another possible 1st if we trade up into the 1st for a third pick, or even with a 2nd round pick. And we still have Murphy for two more years and Jones for 6 more. Crevier has shown flashes and could still turn into a decent third pairing guy, Connor Kelley is having a great senior year and could get an ELC, and Rinzel is looking like the real deal. Plus, we have a few interesting LHD who can play both sides. We don't really need to go out and get a #1D right now. Also, I've watched quite a bit of Levshunov this year, and he is great, but I think there are a lot more holes in his game than his stat line might have us believe. But, again, if they pick him there, I wouldn't be opposed and I totally get it.</div></div>
All good points, I think especially the emergence of Rinzel as a legit guy for both minnesota and usa hockey shows maybe were a bit deeper on RHD than the org would have thought a few months ago. I'd be fine with a high end forward in the top 5 if thats the bpa, Lindstrom and Demidov both look nasty. Should be an interesting draft after Celebrini, its pretty rare theres so little consensus for who should go 2.

Obviously we have the best odds at celebrini at the moment but if were not picking 1st I think Levshunov will be the guy. Cant see the front office looking past his size/skill combo.

Yeah if thats the best they can get they definitely consider that but KD might also prefer to just keep them around. Theres not a lot of pressure to sell this year since the hawks are already a basement team with a bunch of picks and are short on roster players. Really the only other guy you'd use a retention spot on this deadline might be tyler johnson and at 2.5M I dont think he gets you more than dickinson or mrazek at lower cap hits anyway

The values fine but if the hawks can retain and get more from another team they do that instead. Especially with all the injuries in chicago I think its gonna take quality over quantity to convinced kyle davidson to ship out his few healthy guys left

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>I’d throw in a 4th if you’d like but I’ll need 50% retention on Dickinson just in case Siegs can come back before the playoffs. Would give us room to send down smith or miller and bring Siegs back into the lineup</div></div>
not too far off value wise but I think at this point chicago has so many picks stocked up that another 4th doesnt really do anything for them, theyd probably actually prefer to retain on both contracts to try to get max value back and accrue higher picks that they can use to try to trade up at the draft. Ideally I'd maybe want something like both guys at 50% and a 4th for 2 2nds.
