What if you could get Duclair instead of Kahun? I love the idea of Duclair and McDavid together.

Love the idea of Duclair playing with McDavid and Kassian. Speed and snipes from Duclair and Mcdavid + grit, defense and cleaning up the garbage from Kassian. Well done, great idea.

Pretty solid team
You’d be wise to resign Sheahan... He and Archibald are the reason their PK is so strong. He’d be cheap (less than a million) and would be a better choice at centre than Ennis.
Right now my eyes are bleeding at the site of Chiasson and Neal on the same third line.
I suspect Neal is going to get bought out or dumped somewhere else to be honest. There’s really no need for him if we keep Ennis (who’s a better fit as he can play up and down the line-up) and following the acquisition of AA.
Benning? I suspect the Oilers keep him for a bit to ease Bouchard in, and trade him at next years deadline.
Lagesson? I suspect the Oilers will keep him as a 7th DMan and trade him at some point as well as he’ll be made redundant by Broberg the following year.
Last, Bear - the Oilers would be wise to sign him to a 4 year contract. Hopefully that gives them a bargain deal for 2-3 years, they maintain RFA rights by the end, and they don’t have to worry about him for 4 years. At 4 years, I suspect he’d be around $3.5MM to $4.5MM.

Healthy lineup going into postseason
I'd swap Haas and Sheahan
Ennis - Haas - Archibald... that'd be insanely fast line.
Neal - Sheahan - Chiasson... would be slow... but could be good if deployed in the o-zone and they play down low / cycle.

Package Neal with a 3rd, retain $1.5MM (maybe even $2.0MM...), and trade him for one of OTT's 2nd round picks? It would put us in the same position for cap space as if we bought him out, but he'd be off the books sooner rather than later...

There's no room for Lagesson net year though and he'll be waiver eligible so we'd likely lose him if we ever tried to call him up.

That defense is going to crumble; there's potential for it to be a good group in 2+ years, but in 2020/21, I just don't see them being that good... which may actually hamper their progress and prevent them from reaching their full potential in 2+ years.

Why would you trade for Washington's 2nd? Detroit's 2nd is more valuable to Edmonton? Though - that's assuming Poolparty can fetch that high of a pick right now.

Next season 3 good lines
WPG Trade should be:
- From EDM: Russell and Larsson
- From WPG: Copp and Fourth Round Pick
While WPG is in desperate need of d-men, Larsson isn't good enough to get Copp. Toss in Russell and top up the return with a mid/late round pick. Increase the likelihood of getting this done if you make the trade after July 1st, 2020 (Russell will receive is final signing bonus on July 1st from EDM; following that, while his cap hit may be $4.0MM, he'll only be owed $1.5MM in salary from WPG). I wouldn't worry about his NMC, EDM fans will do what they do best and easily turn on him and drive him out of the city.
Chiasson Trade should be:
- From EDM: Chiasson
- From anyone: Third Round Pick or hold on to him
Markstrom Signing:
- Not happening. He's way to good to sign at that amount. I suspect there is a competent back-up you can sign for $2.0MM though...
Bear Signing:
- Comparables point to 2 or 3 three years (likely 2) at min $3.0MM.
Benning Signing:
- While I think he's worth less (maybe $0.5MM less), I think he's worth more to the Oilers in a trade (either to sweeten a deal for a team or on a stand alone trade for a pick).
Granlund Signing:
- He's been crap, better to bring in Sheahan for similar amount. Sheahan is also better than Marody IMO.
Nygard Singing:
- I would resign him for $1.0MM as insurance for Yamo. If Yamo doesn't appear ready to step up into a third line, we can send him (and his cap hit) back to the AHL and slot Nygard in. If Yamo's ready, we can try sending Nygard (and his cap hit) to the minors, or lose him on waivers; not a big deal either way.

Don't waste all those assets for the right to negotiate... trading for his rights only makes sense if you want to sign him to an 8 year deal, which it looks like you're not.
No way Hall is signing for less than $10.0MM and 7 years, regardless of what he's actually worth (thank his agent and the overpaying of free agents for this).

Send Lagesson down to AHL to play top pairing minutes for the season.

Tippet has said Kris Russell will be playing his natural left side.
Manning is brutal and should not be on any NHL team. The Oilers should hold on to him until after opening night making him waiver eligible, and send him to the AHL. Best case scenario, someone picks him up; likely scenario, he sits in the press box in the AHL and withers away from the hockey world.
Jones is a left shot but is comfortable on both sides; he'd be much better to play on the ride side of Kris Russell. OR Joel Persson would be a good option. He'll be a decent second PP quarterback but should play limited defensive zone minutes. He's a good match to play with Russell. Also, if we're not going to play Benning... trade him. Maybe he'll yield a 3rd round pick.

I like the idea of PoolParty for Faulk. Seems like it would make sense for both teams.
I would say this deal should be structured in a way that doesn’t require us to also give up Manning and additional assets to get rid of Manning. Giving up draft picks to get rid of him just hurts us longer term. He can be buried in the minors and the Oilers would save $1.1MM... then he’s off the books next year.
Maybe Pool Party plus a late pick is enough to get Faulk, with Carolina retaining sufficient cap to keep the Oilers compliant.
I also wouldn’t be against throwing Benning plus a pick into the trade for a younger winger with upside... would make room for Persson / Bouchard. Depending on how the team progresses and how Jones plays, Oilers could then move Russell at the deadline for a pick and let Jones finish the season with the big club.

If the NJD offer is legit that’s close to what the price will be. Apparently they offered Severson and 3 1sts.
I don’t think Russel Yamamoto and 2 2nds is even close. I think with Edmonton, it starts with Nurse, Yamamoto and a 1st
Also, for 3 years, Laine will be around 8.5m, he’s not taking under 7.25 even for 1 year.</div></div>
