Swayman for Levi
Trying to stay objective a bit here: seems like an interesting idea, but feels way too risky for Buffalo considering how good Boston was defensively and how bad Buffalo was. Love the idea of Ullmark or Sway with Levi though, but seems like a longshot

Thats a good point, but it still akes two to tango. They can ask for that much but not many teams are going to, or are in a place to, make a sell-the-farm overpay trade like that to win a bidding war.
I think Arizona would be crazy not to take that even though it's not as insanely big of a W as Nashville just posted.

Presently on a 50-point pace (13+37,) is fifth on the team in avg toi/gm amongst forwards and is sixth in points/60 amongst Sabres forwards who've played 35 or more games. In addition, as we've seen the past few games with Olofsson on a different line, Mitts was far from the central problem of that black hole line earlier in the season.</div></div>
It's so infuriating. Guy plays 4 straight great games before Tampa. Then he plays solid all game against Tampa. Then the 5 guys on the ice get burned by a 150 pass to a defenseman and the team takes a penalty.. Twitter and my group chats were blowing up to burn Mitts alone at the stake

I don't want to give up Kulich, but I wouldn't hate adding JC.
The idea of adding Chychrun at 2.3AAV means they could make a deal and probably get equal value, and then some, back after a year or two at 1.15AAV .

They have >$25 million to resign Meier, Cozens and Klague next year with Okposo, Girgensons and Anderson as UFA. They'd be 100% fine for next 2 years (end of Reinharts contract).
Also, they are actually pretty okay with the cap through 2026 unless Krebs, Quinn and Peterka ALL earn ( or demand ) more than $5M on average, AND Dahlin gets more than $10M, AND Power gets more than $7M. Those are definitely all well within the realm of possibility, tbf

Sure its a risk with his injuries, but a dumb move, it is not.</div></div>

If they were a goalie away from a cup, maybe they'd make a move *like* this. But adding a struggling goalie to a team that is still learning how to defend well isn't the right move for them. It's just an impossibly risky one at that price, when A. UPL is starting to pan out B. 1st round pick winds up 11 in a fantastic draft C. If Levi becomes Demko in 2 years for Vancouver will have to go into hiding
P.s. Even when I was open to Demko earlier - when our goaltending was atrocious - I wouldn't consider moving Levi in the deal

The 2nd was intended to be PHI's 2nd going back but I messed that up when I redid the trade. But yeah was just trying to put 2 guys on Cozens' wings who are a pain in the ass while scoring 25-40 goals

Think that makes a lot of sense. Only difference I can see, from your breakdown at least is BUF and NJD can both make big money work for at least a few years (BUF I'm convinced can for 4, not sure about NJ). Could the same be said about the 5 interested in Stone at the time?

Fair enough on Murphy. Just a huge McCabe fan. With Power/Dahlin I think the handedness doesn't matter too much so can rework the defensive lineup however you want

Please don’t misunderstand when I say that because I don’t want to imply it’s “not enough” but it feels to me like Buffalo is offering their spare parts for what is definitely not a spare part for Chicago and other potential suitors.
I would keep it simple, prospect pick leave it at that. For example I would suggest
:blackhawks
Bloom
2023 2nd (Middle one of Buffalo/Philly/Vegas)
:sabres
Jake McCabe</div></div>
I agree the value of the trade I posted is more than fair. But being against having to flip a guy to get the extra 75% of the value is fair enough. Olofsson should get you a 1st assuming health, which puts the risk fully on CHI, so understandable.
This post is mostly about how much of a nightmare the 2nd line would be tho :tearsofjoy
Edit: also, yeah I should've just kept it simple but needed to move a body out for the roster to work

What About This
I think this is a fair price for Horvat from Buffalo. He'd obviously make us better, but a winger with short term, or some control makes more sense. I'm probably just clouded by the Meier rumors tho lol. Timeline just doesn't quite make sense for a rental IMO
Edit: adding Schenn coming back would make more sense too, if they were in a position to sell out for rentals

IMO, if Olofsson is the roster player, adding retention makes him a lot more valuable. They can keep him as a 30 goal scoring "rental" at 2.3M, or flip him next deadline for 1.2M. That should get them another 1st if year 1 of the rebuild doesn't go well.
Enough to keep Savoie out of the trade? Think it depends on what other offers are out there, so probably not

rumors true
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dkollidas</b></div><div>I wouldn’t say that necessarily. Early in season they wanted to give Cozens and Mittelstadt opportunities at center behind the Thompson line, both being older, more established, but still young players. Cozens took his opportunity and ran, Mittelstadt foundered s bit, but found success with Olofsson when paired with Jost off of waivers…
Inevitably this left Krebs “stuck” centering Girgensons & Okposo. But I really believe this has allowed Krebs’ game to really develop. He can carry the puck but has not become adept in a dump & chase style. He can play with less offensive players and play more of a 200ft game… and he’s developed a REAL feistiness that a young team like this needs. He gets out there and likes to stir the pot and seems to have the respect of a lot of the other players for how he handled that situation.
On the roster right now, my long term keepers at forward are:
Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Krebs
He’s a long term top-9 forward who I believe will get a decent but not over the top 2nd contract and will be able to fit in long term.</div></div>
Spot on. The different style Krebs has picked up from playing with those 2 is going to pay dividends in the future, and I don't think he's the guy to lose confidence in his playmaking skills along the way. Going to be interesting how his next contract plays out in this conversation

Krebs is easily worth a first plus. A top 15 pick from last year is literally a 1st round pick. And a 1st round pick who's developed very nicely (that defaults to a 2nd round pick if he doesn't sign), plus a 2nd is easily worth a 1st... and if he doesn't sign 2 mid-late 2nds is worth a top 40 pick. 3 1sts is pretty damn close to 3 1sts

I'm not a huge analytics guy, so you may be right. But IMO if he's on a team that can get the puck to him he should be scoring a lot of goals
