Bring em back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>worldwidesensei</b></div><div>You're trading a guy that is on a 33 goal pace for a 2nd round pick????
Olofsson is tied for 47th in the league in goals.
He has as many goals as Marner, JT Miller, Suzuki...
And more than Kucherov, Eichel, Tkachuk and about 800 other NHL players.
2nd round picks have a pretty small chance of even making the NHL.</div></div>
Well he does disappear for long stretches, if it wasn't for the first 10gms of the season he wouldn't be close to that. I would take the 2nd and maybe change the 4th to a D prospect

I would prefer to do this in the offseason, but if Buffalo agreed to give up the Philly 2nd, I would probably pull the trigger now…

I got positive reactions to the idea of Olofsson + 2nd getting a 1st. After all you are merely moving down in the draft for a non rental.

I think Hughes is aiming to weaponise his cap space and retain salary on those 2 to get 1st round picks, but as is, the value offered is ok with me.
I NEVER say that about a Sabre fan AGM, sooo good job.

I quite like Garland and think he'd still get a solid return if moved. Similarly, I think Schenn will as well at the deadline. If Canucks had interest in Jok I could see this being of interest. My only thought is that they wouldn't have interest in Bryson so I'd think a pick instead. Oloffson would have a nice value for the Canucks to double retain and trade again IMO. It's very intriguing for that and Jok with RFA rights.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nhldeadline2</b></div><div>I may have missed/messed up some of the math on the cap space, so let me know. Going to make '23-24 and '24-25 posts with these same deals to see if it checks out on paper</div></div> First of all, you laid out the cap projection perfectly and in an easy to understand manner.
Second, it has been three years since the Sabres traded a draft pick for a player. They may start if they think another piece to the puzzle to win the cup, but not to add a player for 20 regular season games.
Third the only player I would add from your list of trades would be Schenn, but I would not trade Jokiharju.
I do not notice him in a game to assess if he is any good, is the best comment about Henri. IMO that makes him a very steady if unspectacular defenseman.
Add a solid RHD physical defenseman, let's keep the picks to throw darts at possible RHD.
We have too many hole to fill, to be a cup contender.
Adding players who will walk at the end of the season for draft picks does not make any sense at the present time.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fjordy</b></div><div>I don't know why we need so many veterans. Add one defenseman and one forward. I am satisfied with Jost and Krebs like ours 3C/4C.</div></div> Completely agree.
<strong>Jost</strong> is this years Curtis Lazar only better.
Picking up young former first round picks either as a UFA or waiver wire is a smart move IMO.
<strong>Krebs</strong> seems to play his best hockey with Girgensons and Okposo.
They are excellent forecheckers, keeping the puck out of the defensive zone and frustrating the other team

I'll take the 1st here in this case. Krebs would be great too but I just like the allure of another 1st and it's something KH has specifically stated he's after for this years draft.

Quantity over Quality in every Chychrun trade I see
Mid tier players/prospects don't net you a top pair defensemen on a steal of a deal, and if you don't think he's a star defensemen then don't trade for him.
AZU has no interest in wingers, doesn't need centers... does need D and netminder prospects respectively</div></div>
Interesting 😆 I assume you don't know who Savoie is. Anyways, this trade is fair, maybe 2 much but worth giving up.

They could easily fit these contracts in with the 4 players listed with the cap going up <em>conservatively</em> $5 mill before then, and KONECNY (and 4 other replacement level players' contracts totalling ~$14 mill) not even being on the books when the two forwards in question need a contract. Not to mention the $5.8 the OP left in cap space.</div></div>

The good news is Arizona passes.
Doesn't Konecny's contract expire when Quinn and Peterka need new contracts?
The big problem would be paying an overrated Severson that much money.

He's really not though. He plays 12 minutes a game, has 7 points, and is around 50% even strength corsi all while usually drawing the hardest defensive assignments. He battles for pucks, he hits, he draws penalties, blocks shots, forechecks and backchecks. Maybe he's a little overpaid for a 4th liner, but he does everything you could expect from one. You could do a lot worse than a 4th line with Gus and Asplund.

He's a no-namer to LA.</div></div>
He missed an entire year of development due to injury then entered the AHL at a ppg pace in the playoffs. His draft position is irrelevant. Yakupov was taken 1st overall. Ullmark taken in 6th round

Agree as to Iafallo's value but just because you have never heard of a prospect means absolutely nothing as to their value. Rousek is doing well on Rochester this season, he's very quick and a great playmaker. Underrated Sabres prospect imo

Why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Assuming the Sabres finish out of the playoffs, should the Sabres be giving up futures for two years of Chychru? Plus he is a LHD which the Sabres have plenty. Keep Dahlin and Power, Samuelsson on the left side.</div></div>
I understand the perspective but I’d throw a few arguments the other way;
1) Dahlin plays better on his off hand imo, and has great chemistry with Samuelsson. I want that pair to be our top pair for 15yrs.
2) Power is still so young and I don’t think it would hurt to be able to limit his minutes a bit, adding a piece like Chychrun allows that.
3) Chychrun played in Arizona with Lybushkin so should have some chemistry there to start with.
4) can never have enough talent on the back end.
5) cheap deal with two additional years
6) Sabres have an immense amount of depth in their prospect pool. Dealing 1-2 pieces that aren’t Savoie/Kulich/Rosen/Levi is a solid deal. Also, they have too many forwards in their pool and will need to offset that at some point by either trading for nhl defensemen,
Or trading those forwards for picks or defense prospects.

Well, if you want a better prospect than Pelletier, JJP easily qualifies. He is 10 months younger than Pelletier (pretty significant when a prospect is 20), had a slightly higher PPG in the AHL, in his first season playing on NA ice. Not to mention he has better size/physicality.
