Different supporting cast
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>"Different supporting cast". So you resigned Spezza, Simmons, Bogosian and Riitch, and only ridded the Leafs from three roster players from last year.</div></div>
Changing the entire 3rd line, 1st line winger and 2nd line winger is definitely changing the supporting cast...
Not sure how much of an impact 10 minute a night Simmonds is compared to anyone else you want to bring in at that price.

What would be a realistic return for Miles Wood
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ldog92</b></div><div>if the leafs have to give this much up for him, they wont</div></div>
I agree. Seems like overpayments are needed to make people look at trades though.
Wood would be a very good winger to have heading into playoffs and I think it would definitely be worth it to see his value.

IF Wood were made available, what would be a return that would make sense.
He would be a near-perfect fit for the Leafs right now and going into the playoffs.

deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Copenhagen</b></div><div>Why would Nashville do that trade, they are in a playoff spot?</div></div>
They are on a hot streak right at the trade deadline. Other than these past 6 games they have been mediocre at best. Even if they do manage to get in I cannot see this team as it is right now making it past the 1st round.
Granlund is a ufa and really has not had much value at all for Nashville these past two years. They get a someone who isn't returning off their books for a pick and prospects.

Yea that is why I honestly don't see that great of a fit with him in Toronto. Unless him and Spezza rotate and play 40 games each but to be honest, I don't want either of them to be relied upon to play over 15 mins a night

Lehtonen RHD
Personally, Thronton has passed his time being a 3C in the league. I know he has done it as recently as last year but that slows the entire 3rd line down. He is a fantastic piece in the locker room and brings more leadership and much-needed experience but I would not look at putting him, at the age of 41, into a 3C role on a team looking to contend for the cup.

We finally have defensive depth why would we trade it away
One more piece on that third line would be a reason. Aside from Kerfoot, these are essentially two 4th lines. Giving away 1 defenceman to make room for 1 forward would probably perfectly balance this team out. Still, Sandin and Liljegren are good 7 and 8 options at D so losing 1 will not be that big of an issue.

Close to final team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yikes</b></div><div>If I was Toronto I wouldn’t add haula. There’s no real need for him. Obviously one more good depth piece would be useful but then save a mil or two for TDL</div></div>
Although Haula has been really inconsistent, I think a major part of that is his poor luck in his injuries over his career. Obviously like I mentioned before injuries do occur and the Leafs have been adding depth for this reason, but looking at the best option right now if everyone is healthy, I think Haula adds great penalty killing and is a phenomenal two-way player - granted if he stays healthy.

Bracco and Rosen essentially have 0 trade value. I don't think Savard goes that easily and also Borowiecki taking away a spot from Lehtonen doesn't make much sense at all

They can move Killorn or Palat and keep their third line. These two have been a major factor in their playoff run they aren't losing both of them like this IMO

Right, but that is the issue. Then you continuously need to be chasing a winger for Tavares who can come close to the production that Nylander would put up for 5 more seasons. If Palmieri had still 3 more seasons it'd be a close deal, but 1 year is scary

Nylander
Honestly, if Palmieri had a little bit of a longer contract I would be pretty close to agreeing to that Nylander trade. A lot of people on here undervalue him and it is easy for me to say that as a Leafs fan but his stats back it up. Palmieri would be a good option on the second line and much cheaper, but having to resign him I'd worry about a raise that could end up hurting Toronto as they already know the cap won't go up and they have to worry about guys like Rielly, Hyman, Sandin, Liljegren, and Robertson who will need increases

Love the idea of adding Bobby to this team. Great player and will not get much recognition because of the year he had on and off the ice. Assuming he clocks in around 1.5 mil I'd love to see him in a Leafs jersey this year.

When they believe in all their young guys, they can literally buy their way into the second round of the playoffs given a good group of free agents.
