Leafs 2021 Weegar Danault
Danault is worth a lot more than that. The second-round pick would probably have to be in there and maybe a prospect.

A high pick. 2nd or 1st. He is an unbelievable two way centre on a great contract. The only thing I hate about him is that he plays for the Habs but honestly probably should get a first somewhere. They have Tatar, Domi (if he stays) and Gallagher, all good options on the wing so adding a 2nd or 3rd line winger would have to be packaged with probably a conditional 1st.
Buchnevich and a 2nd is probably his value

Calgary would never, and Thornton just is not impactful enough to play 3rd line centre

Not sure how Bergevin is valuing Danault, but he definitely should be worth a whole lot more than Buchnevich.

Holl's spot would not be solidified either. The idea of having an available D at the NHL level is a luxury the Leafs have no had in a while. I think Lehtonen will be able to step into a role either 3rd or 2nd line this year and especially right now he is playing phenomenal early in the season in the KHL. I loved it when we signed him and starting him scratched in Game 1 is not the idea that "he is 7th D". Rather everyone will have to prove themselves.

I know a lot of Leafs fans on this site make mock trades for Georgiev but it really does not make much sense. Much better goalies are available through trade or free agency. Decent value, but I don't think it is realistic

If Tanev gets injured for playing physical and blocking shots I am completely fine with that. Playing that style of hockey comes with injuries. Tanev is a player that when he is out on the ice, you know you are getting every dollar out of him and he will get in the way of any shot and lay his body on the line to win a game.

Why does the cap not work? Holl was nice and dependable alongside a fantastic defenceman. Not so nice and dependable when Muzzin was injured.

Dermott on a 1-year prove-it deal resolves the issue. If he shows he can play at a higher level, you can give him a better contract, if not, Sandin should be more than ready to step in. Obviously losing Dermott for nothing is not the solution.

Either sign Dermott or trade him. Leafs won't get compensation worth his value by letting him go. Either package him in a bigger deal or sign him and have him replace Sandin or rotate. He deserves a spot over Sandin for sure right now. Also what happened to Holl. Guy dissapeared

Wow. Yes you are correct that's terrible on my part. FA is always after the draft obviously. That makes it have to be a 2022 1st rounder
At that point it doesn't make sense anymore. Perhaps adding a 4th and SDA can push the first to this year

That defence and goalie will not get it done. The offence looks better with Ehlers but not sure that can hold up while having such an inexperienced defence. Both Bear and Bouchard are first and second-year players, with Barrie on the first line who can not play defence at all. Offensively, this team is great, but defensively not so much.

Mikheyev did not have a good 5 games in the playoffs at all. He does not have many games to use as a platform and he didn’t show up when the Leafs needed him. I truly believe his value dropped after this playoffs

Hard to project what he will get after the season he had and the injury he is coming off of. 2 mil is still a price that would be good for the Leafs to spend on him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MMXD</b></div><div>Not really. The way I see it with Dermott is he’s probably going to shift to the right side. He played right side in the Marlies and in juniors. If the Larsson rumours were somehow true, I was running with a
Rielly-Larsson
Muzzin-Dermott
Lehtonen-Gudas lineup.
The second would be a shut down line all the same with Dermott as it was with Holl and Gudas brings that snarl that they need and have already being called “future leaf”</div></div>
Why would you want Larsson who only has one year remaining on his contract, and then remove Holl from Muzzin when they have played phenomenal together this season. Dermott is not ready to play a shutdown role yet and I cannot see him being ready by next season. In this case, you are just slotting Dermott into a spot that is already filled and is the only Defensive line that has looked good. I would much rather see Pesce (Who has longer-term on his contract, is cheaper, and is a better defenceman) than Larsson on that first line with Rielly, and keep Holl with Muzzin, and the nGudas can bring - like you said - that "snarl" which would be nice to see.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MMXD</b></div><div>Bringing in bennett seems useless if you have clifford for less.
Thats a lot for Gudas.
What happens to dermott?</div></div>
Bennett is a player who never really got to hit his peak. Giving him a chance in a new environment and the Leafs do need a player who is willing to hit on the third line. Clifford is not enough come playoff time. The last 4 years have been living proof that the Leafs are lacking major grit, and they can't be pushed around anymore.
That is around how much Gudas is going to make.
Get compensation whenever he gets signed or add him in a trade. I love Dermott but Leafs signed Lehtonen to play, and if the Leafs truly upgrade their right side, it pushes Dermott out of the lineup. Signing him would also create a logjam in developing Sandin who is going to be hopefully ready to go by end of next season.
