DRAFT EISERMAN PLUS TRADE UP FOR IGINLA

I disagree. They have the Flames 1st in 2025 already plus when the trade Savard at the 2025 Trade Deadline they'll fetch a first. Happy to slightly overpay for Tij Iginla.

Well how about we trade Barron and move Reinbacher on the 2nd pairing and put Dickinson as the 7th Dman
Hutson - Guhle
Struble - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Mailloux

Nah, throw another LHD on the pile so we can push one of Ghule/Hutson to play 3rd pairing for years to come.</div></div>
Perhaps.
D-Pairings at start of 2026-27 Season (with Savard, Matheson, Kovacevic departures):
Hutson - Guhle
Struble - Mailloux
Xhekaj - Barron

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Made a post about him today, I'm a big fan.
Seems to be a high-floor player with a very solid ceiling. IMO, he can definitely be a 40-goal, 85 pt guy, and likely becomes at minimum 60 pt, solid 2nd-line guy. What I love about him is his play driving and he is multi-dimensional as well.</div></div>
They should take him in the 7 spot no? why not you know what you get ... hard working centre

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Rather keep the pick honestly. It's a solid line, but that pick has more potential to bang.
Likely we would draft a LW, and the future lineup would look like this:
2024 1st - Suzuki - Slaf
Caufield - Dach -Roy/Newhook
If we were to do that trade though, I think Dach (Maybe Newhook) would be the center. I don't see Z as a center</div></div>
All fair. Thoughts on Tij Iginla? I'm a sucker for players whose dads are hall of famers.

Keep the assets, sign Zegras when he becomes a UFA or when he eventually goes the PLD route and is trade for cheap at 50% retained.
We are 3-4 years out before competing (aka times it takes for guys like Slaf, Hutson, Reinbacher to mature and simultaneously with the downfall of Toronto and Boston). We have time to develop a winning team.</div></div>
I'm willing to overpay for Zegras he's a fine fit as 2nd line centre and the PP will improve.

ZEGRAS TRADE AT 6TH OVERALL PICK OF THE DRAFT PLUS OFFSEASON KNIGHT TRADE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jded</b></div><div>A version of this trade has honestly been proposed by a Habs fan somewhere close to 100 times in the last few months. And by this trade I mean ‘24 MTL 1st, Harris, Yllonen. For the 101st time (sorry for the snark but not sure why we’re still doing this):
Harris - less than zero interest in ANA
Yllonen - less than zero interest
MTL ‘24 1st - very attractive
MTL ‘25 1st - very attractive but likely overkill on value
Drop the uninteresting prospects, add someone like Beck/Mesar, lose the second first rounder and at least the value is right with pieces ANA would care about
Even still, the trade is highly unlikely for 3 reasons:
1. Verbeek wants to compete for playoffs next year and has talked about adding a bonafide top 6 wing. Any Zegras trade is a big step back in an area he already feels we’re shorthanded
2. The only players Verbeek would likely consider this for at 6th are probably gone or MTL would just prefer to draft them (Lev and Lindstrom)
3. You’re trading for a player that isn’t available. Lebrun dispelled the rumor like a month ago based on multiple inside sources (something the original rumor lacked) and Verbeek outright said the same in an interview this past week</div></div>
All valid points. Actually, I'm get feedback from some Duck fans and they're saying that the deal is fine. They would trade Zegras to get 2 picks in the top six.

That said, it’s becoming increasingly clear that Verbeek doesn’t want to trade Fowler, and this trade isn’t a good move for MTL. I just don’t see Z going anywhere</div></div>
It's an overpayment for Zegras and Anaheim ends up with 2 top-6 picks in this draft. Very reasonable

SAVARD TO OILERS ALLEN TO PHILLY PLUS OFFSEASON ZEGRAS TRADE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Habs_22_14_20</b></div><div>Wow this is bad and unrealistic
Raphael Lavoie cleared waivers earlier this year, his value is near zero
David Savard value is probably a 2nd round pick but because MTL don't have top 4 RHD and only two veterans (Matheson/Savard), David Savard is much more valuable to MTL then a 2nd round pick
MTL loses their last retention slot on David Savard with Jeff Petry (50% retained until the 2024-2025 season) and Joel Edmundson (50% retained until the 2023-2024 season)
Savard has another year so MTL would be retaining until the 2024-2025 season
MTL trade Jake Allen (3.85M) for Cal Peterson (5M) only to buyout Peterson instead of Allen ... Allen buyout is better than Peterson as well
For the ANA trade, depends where the pick is and Harris & Ylonen wouldn't be players that ANA would target</div></div>
That's fair. Savard for Lavoie, 2nd rd pick and a conditional 4th rder in 2025 would be fine.
Cal Petersen buried in Laval is fine. Habs don't have cap trouble next year anyways. Do the Flyers clear up some cap room with an Allen/Petersen trade?
If the Habs pick is the 1.02, would Anaheim consider the trade?

LINDHOLM SETS THE PRICE FOR MONAHAN
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac555</b></div><div>Respectfully - two takes from Habs fans who have a vested interest in wanting a team to over pay for a good center/wing who is on an expiring contract. In reality, Monahan is worth a 2nd and a prospect…which is about the same price every year that good players go for.
These are not binary things. Teams who were looking at Lindholm are not REQUIRED to do anything. They could simply not trade at all, or maybe shift resources to another area of need.
Vancouver paid more to have Flames make this move now, many weeks before the deadline.
I’ve seen some posts on here since last night that are truly baffling. Monahan wouldn’t even return Kakko alone.</div></div>
