(NYR/CAR) - Skjei for a 2020 1st round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AwesomeMatthews</b></div><div>Rangers fans are rejoicing can someone explain why their so happy he's gone.</div></div>
Skjei is a... serviceable... defenseman. But when you watch him he's incredibly frustrating. He's been our no. 1 LD the past two seasons and having come in with the hype of "McDonagh 2.0" it has been frustrating to see him barely crack the surface of what McDonagh was at his age. Also, I'm pretty sure I remember Skjei being a healthy scratch fairly recently because he was struggling so hard (either was this season or sometime last season). Beyond that, we have unreal D prospects (K'Andre Miller, Nils Lundkvist) and young D (Adam Fox, Anthony DeAngelo, Ryan Lindgren), in addition to Trouba, so we really needed to trade someone eventually anyway. IMO, Skjei was the weakest link of them all. And an expensive one at that.

(NYR/CAR) - Skjei for a 2020 1st round pick
SO the leafs traded Carolina a first for cap space and that first turned into Brady Skjei... That's incredible XD. Y'all talking about Skjei like hes garbage, he's a young top 4 defenseman making 5.25, that is not that bad and we got it basically for free for being responsible with our cap space.

New York Rangers signed Chris Kreider (7 Years / $6,500,000 AAV)
Term is the only issue, 5 years would have been ideal, thought they'd settle on 6, but ended up 7.
The Rangers have the prospects, they have the assets, but they don't have the experience and veteran leadership championship teams have to have. Locking up Kreids means this team chose the direction they want to go and I agree with it. Selling off this deadline would push the window back another 2-3 years, with a few minor tweaks this offseason and adding some veteran depth, this team could make the playoffs next year.
Also, in 1 year like 25 mill is coming off the books for the Rangers. This is a move knowing full well they only have 1 more year until they can make major moves and capitalize on prime Kreider,Panarin,Zibanejad.

(MIN/PIT) - Zucker for Galchenyuk, Addison, 2020 1st round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Random2152</b></div><div>Believe it or not, this is a fair deal. Jason Zucker is criminally underrated and will be fantastic in PIT. Honestly thought the Wild were going to get much less (thanks in part to the fenton era). Good for them for getting fair value.

Going rate for a player of Zucker's calibre <em><strong>with a very manageable contract with term </strong></em>.
Honestly, fair trade for both sides.

I feel like a lot of the people saying the Sens won this trade haven't watched Names play recently or think of him with the Lightning, with Stamkos and Kucherov as linemates...
Names has been consistently bad for the Rangers ever since they got him. Plugging him into the 2nd line of the Sens might get him a couple more points, but any GM would be a fool to ignore his recent history. If he goes to a contender, he'll be bottom 6 again and produce nothing, while being ok on the defensive side of the puck.
Honestly, I'm surprised the Rangers didn't have to give away an incentive pick to be rid of Names. For that reason alone, the Rangers won this trade.

Trade works well for both teams:
Senators can showcase Vlad and give him bigger minutes that the Rangers couldn’t. This will boost his value and they can flip him at the deadline for 2020 picks
Rangers get needed cap space AND a roster spot to bring up Chytil or Kravstov ASAP. They take lesser value to make the trade happen now but getting the kids ice time is the most important thing

Let's just say, the woman's account is accurate. How would any of us feel if our wife or daughter was confronted by three strong drunken men at 2 in the morning. We might not feel it was "boys being boys"
I think back to the Zimmeman/Trayven Martin killing in the townhouse Florida complex. Zimmerman stalked Martin, shot and killed him. HIs successful defence was he was in felt he life was in danger and therefore the shooting was justified. Wow, imagine if this woman had thought same thing, and had a gun on her at the time.

It is an overreaction, however he should be fined just like any average Joe should when they are drunk and disorderly. He acted like a dumb drunk, and he should be treated like anyone else who acts like a dumb drunk in a relatively public manner.

Does Vegas have enough to make a deep playoff run this year
I don't get all this talk about Vegas' defense. Their defense looks nearly identical to last season, aside from Colin Miller, and they were a very good defensive team. Don't get me wrong I like Colin Miller as a player, but I don't think losing your 3rd/4th defenseman is the worst thing in the world, especially when you have a forward group like Vegas. Personally, I think their goaltending is more of a question mark than their blue line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>So many folks think Kadri was a 30 goal. scorer because he was great centre. Marner contract. In the past guys coming off thier ELCs wouldn't be getting UFA money, which is what Stone got...UFA money. Heck the best player in the league starts his 9.5m contract next year Kucherov. Marner shouldn't be getting 9.5m but for some reason the Leaf like to give out premium contracts to their RFAs. Nylander was overpay at 7m a year and no way Matthews shouldn't be getting paid the as the 2nd highest player in the league. Who can figure these contracts?</div></div>
Dubas opened up Pandora's box when he way overpaid Matthews. In my opinion, Marner is more valuable than Matthews, so where does that leave them? In a cap crunch...that's where.

(WPG/NYR) - Lemieux, 2019 1st and conditional 4th for Hayes
I really like this trade for the rangers-- i would've pushed for a better conditional pick and had it on hayes resigning in WPG.
Rangers can always (probably would be a mistake) sign hayes in the offseason.
NY wins because they get a good young physical forward in Lemieux plus a first rounder-- for someone they may not resign. Yes it would've been nice to add Appleton but they get a physical presence that DQ commands. Solid player in both the OHL and AHL that will stick up for teammates. He will do well with the rangers considering they've lacked grit lately and get a productive player rather than a McLeod type player.
WPG wins because Hayes is a huge center that'll play well with Laine and Ehlers. Pass first which should help Laine continue his rebound from the drought. Plus they didn't give away a top 3 prospect in Niku, Ves or Appleton
