OEL Trade
That’s the max I would give up if I were VAN, and it would have to include the retention.
I think what a lot of people are not taking into consideration here is leverage.
OEL has a no movement clause so unless he has a large amount of teams he is willing to go to Arizona has very little leverage for this transaction.
This situation reminds me of when VAN traded Kessler, the difference being that’s Arizona is desperate to shed salary, that gives the acquiring team even more leverage than Anaheim had for the Kessler trade.
I think VAN could possibly even add Eriksson in this trade and still get it done. If Arizona wants to be at or near the cap floor, Eriksson is owed very little real money over the next two seasons but counts as 6 million towards the cap.
All depends on HOW desperate Arizona is to shed salary and how many teams OEL is willing to accept a trade to.
That said, OEL has a huge cap hit for a long time and unless the Canucks get Arizona to retain (which i think is unlikely) I personally hope they stay away from him, even though he’s still a good player.

This is actually very interesting work. Also seems like the kind of team (management) that would want Sutter.

Stecher is their best defender and he's young. Although that statement can be beaten down because hughes has arrived. Stecher is not someone they should move or want to move. In others words he should be untouchable.

I dont know a thing about Vancouver 1
Dorsett is retired from back problems
Gagner has negative value at this point, if the canucks bury him he costs 2M if they pay to trade him retained they keep 1.5M. Makes more sense to bury him and keep assets. He may have more interest come summertime, I hope.
Stecher is very underrated, I would go as far as saying Benning wouldnt trade him. We dont have enough young RHD in our system right now and Stecher has made strides, recently taken over 1st PP duties with Edler out.
Guys on the trade block in Vancouver:
Pouliot
Sutter
Gudbranson
Granlund
Schaller
And maybe Goldobin.. But you dont just find offensive talents like Goldobin available. Its been apparent so far the Canucks see the value in developing Goldobins defensive deficiencies vs trading him which is a good thing. The question is though, if the kid just doesnt get it, how much longer do you beat a dead horse.

Yes. But it was a learning experience for him and every goalie that gets a few days of NHL shots on him would be dominant in OHL or any major junior hockey league.

Undo 3 Trades Draft Picks Signings From The Chiarelli Era
There is but 2 things you can really nail Chia to the board on. The Hall trade and the Eberle trade. Those had so little chance of turning in hi favor that someone in his group should have advised against them.
All the rest are circumstantial. The picks are absolute luck based. No one thought Barzal would be a 80+ point player. Good prospect yes but not as good as he'd been. Lucic signing sucks but you know what, there were other teams willing to sign Lucic so it wasn't only Chia. etc etc
Chia took a leap of faith with Larsson that he'd turn into the next Victor Hedman right before he became a superstar. He also traded a guy that despite being on a terrible team was literally the teams most valuable player ( before McDavid arrived) for a player that wasn't even that high up in the Devils ranks yet.
Eberle trade was also misinformed. Eberle might have had a bad post season but he was still year after year one of the teams most consistent scorers. Sure they saved money with Strome but he only had one year in which he lived up to that potential and nothing else so was he banking on Strome playing the 3rd line and being a really good 3rd liner? IMO That was a wild swing and a miss for Chia on that one.
Had Chia simply not made those two moves, the Oilers would be much better off today as it would have probably meant not signing Lucic as well.

Bennett is a top 20 pick, and nothing is certain after top 5. He had the chance to play with sid and geno when kessel wasnt there. Just a bust like virtanen or zacha.
Sprong just didnt have a spot (for that yes the pens ruined him)</div></div>

By that same logic, Im sure Van fans know they aren't getting Dale "Wayne Gretzky" Weise back in return..... Both players suck. Thats kind of the whole point of the trade.

What do you mean Vancouver needs scoring??? They have BROCK BOESER (led rookies in goals) and Jonathan Dahlen (projected to be a goal scorer like Filip Forsberg). Vancouver doesn't need any F they just need more defence prospects, actually they might not even need those anymore cuz they have Hughes now. But they definitely wont move Olli Juolevi.

Trade Down with VAN
Not sure why Canucks would move up to the fourth position unless they want Brady Tkachuck. At 7 they can grab Hughes, Boqvist, Walhstrom, Dobson, or even Bouchard.
I am aware not all five of those prospects will be there, but at least three of them will be.
Plus Vancouver would have the 37th overall pick, that could be another stud.
