I say thing as someone who likes both Carrier and Novak a lot, I don't see what's appealing for the Oilers in this trade. Ceci still has one season left after this one While Carrier is a pending UFA. And since I'd classify both as number 4-5 defensmen, the Oilers wouldn't drastically uprade their team there.
Which then leaves Bourgault, a B prospect, a first and a second for Tomas Novak, who's a good player but who's not awesome and again, he's another pending UFA.
I believe Edmonton is trading too much here

Defense is his game. Probably the highest PK TOI among Ducks forwards and I’d guess he starts like 60% of his shifts in our zone. Plays physical, has a decent scoring touch for a 4C. Very physical, and is an all out work ethic player. I honestly am hoping we don’t trade him and sign him to another year or two. Great guy for the young kids to be around

Dowd should only cost a 3rd and maybe a Sweetener. He’s a 4th Line 8-12 minute per night forward. Those don’t go for a ton

Nic Dowd would be better, but Carrick’s a decent Plan B/C who should only cost a 4th or 5th RD Pick. That’s my guess

Gritty grinder who has been really good at faceoffs this season. Has been on PP recently as a net front pest.
Just honestly a solid depth piece.

TVR - definitely available, my guess would be for around a 3rd. The Caps' defense isn't very good at the top end anymore but it is deep and they just have too many bodies, they just signed Bear and he's younger so one of Jensen or TVR seem to be the odd men out at RD especially with Iorio probably pushing for a spot next year.
Dowd - possibly available, would be looking for at least a 2nd round pick. Best pure 4c in the league -- a monster defensively and on the PK yet still has enough skill to keep up with better players. Cheap contract and extra year means they don't need to make a move like they did last year with Hathaway but I could see BMac pulling the trigger if a good deal comes around. They got 2nds for Eller and Hathaway last year so that would be the absolute floor for a Dowd move and I honestly would not be surprised for them to ask for a 1st and position Dowd as this year's version of Goodrow or Coleman.
Lindgren - probably not available, would be looking for at least a 2nd round pick. Playing out of his mind this year and should legitimately be 3rd in the Vezina race, he's the only reason this team isn't in the bottom 5 right now. That combined with once again a cheap deal and an extra year would make WSH want something significant to move him. On the other hand though, this is the first year he's played starter's minutes in the NHL and certainly isn't a young prospect. Goalies also don't typically bring back great returns, so I could see a pretty big gap in valuation between WSH and other teams. One of those guys who's value to a specific team is much greater than any other team would reasonably give up to get him and why I don't think he'll be moved.
I will say though, I think all 3 would be great fits in EDM -- Dowd and Lindgren especially. Would also be a lot easier for me to keep rooting for them unlike Orlov and Hathaway last year

All three should be available, whether or not they actually are is a whole different story.
Dowd just does his job every game. Wins d zone faceoffs, kills penalties, makes simple and smart offensive plays, chips in with some offensive output more than an average 4C as well. Asking price should be a 2nd rounder or a prospect with similar value.
Lindgren has stolen so many games this year it's honestly hurt the Caps' draft position. His play this year alone would signify he's worth a 1st, but given the lack of track record it's probably a 2nd rounder and a little something else (unless a bidding war for him starts amongst the other cash-strapped teams).
TVR hasn't been anything special this year. Best suited anchoring a third pair but has shown he can handle top four minutes in a pinch. I don't know if he's the perfect fit for Edmonton given the contract isn't too different from Ceci's, although I think he's an upgrade. Probably not the caliber of upgrade Edmonton would be looking for though

I would agree with most comments, is Ceci great? No, but you have to be objective about how good other teams players are. Grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Given Seattle has had goalie issues of their own in the past and Daccord is on the best run of form by a Kraken goaltender ever, I think right now you're looking at a first round pick or a conditional second round pick that becomes a first if Edmonton makes a certain round of the playoffs (a la the Fleury to Minnesota deal) to get Seattle to listen.

Yeah it just doesnt make any sense short or long term. We've had a run of some truly awful goaltending, this guy comes out of nowhere and gives us hope and we're gunna deal that for picks?
If he werent signed for next year too I might consider it. But goaltending being what it is in the nhl, Im happy to ride this high until the carriage turns back into a pumpkin lol.

Description
I don't think a Larsson trade would be because of a bad postseason like eberle's was, it would be because the past two seasons he hasn't been playing up to expectations. I don't think he has a future on this team and if he plays out his contract he likely will leave in free agency. That's my rationale behind trading him. An AA trade on the other hand would be because of a bad post season, and I don't think that would be a good move at all.
